  1. Same Thirded. Born in 86. Was a Basketball/Baseball man before then, World Cup being held in my country turned me around. "Chose to support" (I realize that term itself may seem a bit foreign to the natives here) Newcastle because I was enamored with the idea of Alan Shearer: a living legend, leading the line and symbolizing everything the club stood for. My two greatest regrets in life are being too young to have ever seen Freddie Mercury in concert or Alan Shearer at SJP in his prime. First trip to SJP in 2007 (couldn't afford travel costs before then), been to two games so far. Yet to see a goal socred, much less a win, at SJP. Two matches I went to were Man City(06-07) and Liverpool(07-08)
  2. "Ladies and gentlemen, I'm so very happy to return to Newcastle United. Now, I'd like to introduce you to my new friends. Dimitar, Shaun, come on out."

    Stephen Carr

I think Geremi+Taylor+Carr all being able to play in the position will be good enough backup for now, since Beye isn't really the injury-prone type. He's already 30 though, so should look at getting a promising young right back in the summer.
  4. God, I just don't hope we pass this window by, thinking our current squad is just about good enough, and then get hit with an injury crisis or something and get relegated because we're forced to play Geremi on the wing and Smith in the midfield. Ugh. Bad thoughts.

don't think we need Chimbonda tbh. Beye is just fine at right back and he's a complete tosser that would probably demand massive wages because he has it in his mind that he's one of the best right backs in Europe (to be fair, he might not be wrong.)

...Are you our Martin Jol then?

    Stephen Carr

ok, last time I made a thread like this it was titled "Titus Bramble," so take this with a grain, nay, a pound of salt but... Last season, Carr hardly deserved to be called a footballer. He was overweight, out of shape, slow as f***, and his defensive skills weren't all that hot to begin with. He was completely useless and a liability to the club. He seems to be the one man who has seriously benefited from Big Sams new(or is it "old" now?) fitness regime. He's definitely back in shape and seems to have gotten a bit of his pace back. He's been shaky at the back at times but he's become capable of making those bombing runs that he used to do at Tottenham pre-knee injury again. Now I'm hardly saying that he's suddenly a top-class or even an above-average premiership right back, but I think we just might be able to stop thinking about him as dead weight but rather as decent cover for Beye. Probably another 1~2 years from him at most(when's his contract up) but I think he can be a squad asset to us now.

For now I think I'd be satisfied as long as we're still in the premiership. Hopefully top half by the end of next season.
  9. a left winger and a tin man defender in the middle of midfield? Would you rather have Carr in the midfield then? There's really are no realistic alternatives.
  10. Sidwell off chelsea on loan? Hoping he can wrap up a quick midfield signing within the next 48, however unlikely that may seem.
  11. Given Carr Taylor Cacapa Enrique Milner Roz N'Zogbia Duff Viduka Owen Seems the sane and realistic option.
  12. CACAPA! Is today our "everyone who's lost confidence gets to score and get back into it" day? Who are we playing in the center on saturday? Roz/Cacapa with the Zog?

that would be class Halftime at the Stoke game, KK rides a helicopter into St. James Park. He walks on to the pitch, fans start going mental, KK starts speaking and suddenly after a dramatic pause... somebody shouts "Look! Up in the sky!" A second helicopter is slowly making its way onto the pitch, and KK speaks into the mic "Let me take a moment to introduce my new backroom staff, starting with my assistant manager. You might have met him before..."

Very worried but I hope it all turns well. Don't think I could bear to see another disappointment for King Kev... Or us, for that matter.
  15. Not another favourite? Eh? http://www.rfi.fr/actufr/images/055/foot_desailly220.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b9/Didier_Deschamps.jpg The way I tell them apart is, one is a f*cking lazy thick n***** and the other is Desailly. OMG!!11 that... was interesting.

  17. To be fair, Lyon couldn't play boring football in the French league if they tried. They're a elite European club who gets to play in a league composed of mostly Championship-level or worse opposition.
  18. Would probably get along well would N'Zogbia too, since Houllier's a legend in France, right? As for his transfer record, for what it's worth, French youngsters now are looking a lot better than French youngsters back then, so maybe he'll have better luck this time. Bringing in young prospects is a crapshot really, figure he just had horrible luck last try.
  19. This is what I'm hearing, but that its going to be more of a case of Shearer/Houllier. With those two, surely they'd have a bust up within six months and things would go to hell again.

    Darren Bent

Why? Both are out of form. One was arguably in the top ten strikers of the world when he was in form. The other was a decent player for a relegated side.
  21. the best in my opinion agreed To me, Hiddink is hands down the best manager in the world. My nationality biases me a bit, but still, I would trust him unconditionally any day. If at all possible should snap him up right now when he's not in club management, although the Russians probably wouldn't take kindly to anyone poaching him before Euros. The man likes to things over all else: money and a challenge. We can give him both. Mort would be crazy to not have at leats pitched the job to him. EDIT: only on 2.4 USD a year apparently! We can double that. Hell, we can quad that.

kingdawson and Martin Jol are more fun.
  23. Offside does matter. If there's a deflection or the ball pings around, someone can knock it in from a yard away. I've always wondered why teams don't have some kind of strategy on walls. Why not just half of them jump? Can't you have someone lying on the ground behind the wall, so when the rest jumps, he's lying there covering in case it's a low one? Probably since a person's body would only cover about 1/3 the wall. But what if you had a skilled acrobat preforming rapid forward and backwards rolls along the wall? ...Or you could just use Peter Crouch
