  1. There is no ground or arena in any country in the world in any sport where the fans will be in full voice at 5-0 up (or the equivalent) man that’s just a completely unreasonable expectation unless you’re going to downsize every stadium to 5,000, sell tickets only to Ultras, and kick out all the normies.
  2. Anything short of 25-0 will be a disappointment I say.

    Jacob Murphy

Combine Almiron’s first half of the season and Murphy’s second half and you’ve got one world class player. This is why having a squad is good!
  4. Whole point of being in Europe is to see us playing against the best sides, travel to historic grounds etc. It’s not like we’re realistically aiming to win the CL next year so bring them all on I say.
  5. Given the likely implications for CL qualification, probably a top 4 result since I’ve started following the club, alongside 4-4 at home against Arsenal (RIP Cheick), 2-0 away at Stamford Bridge, and 2-0 at home against Liverpool with Jose Enrique playing goalkeeper? Maybe I’ve missed a couple from the years I was away, but I suspect not many good things happened in that time period.
  6. Sometimes the team plays badly and we lose. This is a welcome transition from the bad old days, when most of the time the team played badly and we lost.
  7. We're going to play in the Champions League what is life.
  8. "Oh no, Isaak is out and we only have serial one-in-two Premier League goalscorer Callum Wilson to bring off the bench? What do we do?"
  9. Having an actual squad is a very good and unfamiliar feeling.
  10. Similar. Supported this team for long enough that the sheer amount of effort required to ratchet up the meter above a five for anything positive is Herculean, but it’s creeping up there.
  11. Wasn’t a good coach to begin with and hasn’t had a real job in years. Ticks all the boxes.
  12. Winning the League Cup to a Man United fan probably generates about as much joy as winning an away league game by two goals against solid opposition does for us. Every draw probably feels like a 3-0 loss, the average league win barely noticeable. They’ll never experience our lows but they’ll never know our highs either. It’s a shit way to be a fan, if you think about it.
  13. Didn’t realize this was next in the fixture list. Can we just not show up and take the 3-0 loss or whatever you get for failing to field a team
  14. People got to meet Mike? Fuck the league cup finals, this is the opportunity of a lifetime I’ve missed by not being able to go this weekend.
  15. Who needs these tin pot trophies anyway. First one to break the drought should be the League or the CL
  16. We may have fallen short of the finish line today but the pain is blunted by the fact that we all know the club is at least going in the right direction now. This isn’t like under Ashley where any cup run was a massive fluke and defeat felt like a crushing blow because we’d probably never advance as far again. We will be back. Club is already massively ahead of schedule in terms of delivering a cup finals and a decent shot at European football just a year after being in the relegation places. Would have been nice to get lucky for once and go a step further, but this year everything is a bonus as far as I’m concerned.
  17. Just the first of many important nights for this club. It would’ve been too easy if we broke our drought immediately our first full season back.
  18. I hate when VAR gives you false hope. It’s like conceding twice.
  19. Ferguson looks a hundred years old, which, to be fair, he probably is by now.
  20. Great weight lifted from everyone’s chests there when Karius didn’t immediately fuck up the first ball kicked at him
  21. Wouldn’t be surprised if a large chunk of tickets in the Man U end were picked up by our fans. My friend is there too because he couldn’t get a ticket in our end. Why would they particularly care about the league cup anyway. Don’t know if there’s ever been a larger disparity in interest between the two fanbases in the final.
  22. It’s the opportunity that feels so special, not necessarily the winning. The feeling, after over a decade of futility, that what we do in supporting this club actually matters. They can’t take that away from us anymore, so it almost doesn’t even matter if we win or lose. We will be back again. For this and for bigger trophies. …love it if we win though.
  23. As someone else has already noted this sort of "COULD FACE PRISON TIME" stuff is always vastly overblown, but not exactly a great first impression is it.
