Based on absolutely nothing I'd guess that they're low Championship/high League 1 level. The Championship itself is probably competitive with most lower-tier Western European leagues. Find it hard to believe that a club with an average attendance of a couple thousand and no meaningful domestic competition could match that.

No disrespect to them, but this is an Azerbaijani team playing in an athletics arena with fake grass. Their highest paid player probably makes about as much as our tea lady. A draw wouldn't be a disaster in the sense that we probably beat them at home anyway, but anything other than victory is an obvious failure & a bit of an embarrassment.

I have to say that hand ball decision before the first goal is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen, pre or post VAR.
-
Now I know why they’re over performing their xG by a trillion goals this season

Call me crazy, but I think we'll see Woltemade and Wissa up top together.

On the one hand, I know enough of how the sausage is made to know that his agency probably set up this piece specifically to try to turn around fan sentiment after he's strung together some decent performances. On the other hand... He does come off as a really nice bloke. Some people can't fake it even when they're told to.

That's it for this season then, might as well pack up

That makes sense. I saw it on Wikipedia and was like “oh god it was longer than I remembered.”

This guy played for us for six seasons. SIX SEASONS! Jack Colback running around doing nothing in a Wonga shirt is the most emblematic image of the Ashley era.

Only have to look at Spurs to see what happens when you start playing Russian roulette with managers when there isn't an obviously good fit out there

Have to consider that he was dropped into Eddie's lap mid season without a whole lot of thought as to how he would fit in the side. I think an offseason worth of planning by the coaching staff (along with his own natural improvement as a young player) will be transformative. We've already seen moments of incredible quality in him and I trust that will shine through if we are patient.

I’m deeply confused as to why body parts other than feet matter for offside. Feels like overcomplicating a simple decision.

He will score for fun next season and we'll all look silly.

He's the one we scouted the longest out of all the summer singings so not surprising that he's by far the best. (Of course, Elanga was a long scout too... Nobody's perfect).

The team has his flaws and mixed summer business and injuries haven't helped either, but this match and Brentford both confirmed for me that in addition to everything else, we have been comically unlucky this season. No way 2-1 is anywhere near an accurate reflection of how the match was played, even if we were all collectively expecting their goal to go in

Right. Precise opposite: the PL is the best, most competitive, most egalitarian league in all of Europe. I wish it was actually shit so we could be running away with a CL spot every year
