what kind of corner does he have to turn like? he's a footballer who can play football, now that we're playing football he's starting to look a decent midfielder and will continue to do so as long as we play to his strengths and not his weaknesses as we'd done for the entirety of his time with us We didn't play much football on Saturday tbf. We set up perfectly for Anita to max his strengths and Man Utd. played to his strengths too. But Anita did his thing. It's where there's strong midfield runners looking to get ahead of the strikers and really boss the midfield is where he usually struggles. But today we saw a glimpse of what we could do. i honestly don't think we should be comparing what he's done or not done in the past to what we're seeing now when he plays in the right system if he's playing behind wijnaldum/sissoko (or colback) and his job is as it was on saturday he'll be able to do the ball recycling thing we all know he can do, but he'll also be better protected and able to track runs, intercept and so on, just as he did on saturday and he's actually very good at i know it perhaps seems like a massive excuses are always being made for anita but he's a diminutive defensive midfielder playing in the premier league, in the same way that armstrong is a diminutive striker and didn't suit having the ball launched up to him by williamson armstrong hasn't "turned a corner" at coventry, he's just being played properly (and of course has dropped down levels) if you expose anita he's going to look s**** because he doesn't have the physical attributes, but played correctly he's twice the CM colback is and offers twice as much As soon as Wij joined and I found out he had been playing at CM for PSV I wanted a flat 3/ 3 man with a defensive pivot and if we go that way long-term Anita is the guy for that role. However, in a 4-2-3-1/4-4-1-1 I still don't know about Anita. IMO he might be a bit of a specialist in that 3 man midfield and not nearly as effective in another type of set-up.

That's because a lot of fans at the ground have about as much football knowledge as Lee Ryder. Even social networking, you see far more praise for Colback than Anita. I'm surprised Anita has stuck around this long tbh. He's not had the backing of fans and his performances on the pitch have generally been way below standard because we never played to his strengths. he's never been openly criticised though has he? iirc obertan for example was booed on or off once right? can't recall that ever happening to anita, seems like he's not managed to annoy people with his performances

Who'd have thought Pardew would be ruining a player? who knew? oh aye, everyone Not really, I'd say the majority of the fans haven't stuck by Anita. A lot questioned his physicality for this league along with his overall ability to play football. Even on here when I said during pre-season Anita would be a key player under McClaren and show how good he actually is, it was rubbished off. jesus imagine not understanding enough about football to think this

has he not just described alan pardew's entire time managing at the club in two perfectly weighted sentences?

Promising. Obviously not the best performance but really showed what he can do and never gave up as well. A bit too isolated imo. Cheers! Is he the type who can score goals off his own esteem like say Ba could, or does he require good service ala Cisse? Not as explosive as Ba was imo so he's not likely to be barging through defences the way he did when Pardew had us belting the ball up to him on his own. He's going to score goals though if we can put crosses in the box, and I confidently predict you're going to love the mad cunt.

as if geordie jack is getting dropped

think you've covered pretty much everything there

Class, more money for Mike then

he first row at St James' is already at pitch level. Add another 2/3 rows and the view will be awful and you won't be able to read the game because your head will be at or close to pitch level. They're the thoughts of people who have been in the new rows at the etihad, at least. I think at the etihad people will go in those first rows once and then never again Lowering the pitch not an option?

If he did come we'd lose him and Mbemba to the ACoN I guess Better keep Willo on the books just in case.

Hilarious stuff, Anita is considerably better at putting in a tackle and winning the ball imo. He generally just does it staying on his feet rather than a full blooded good old inglish tackle. Colback offers nothing defensively that Anita doesn't, he's all bluster.

I really hope we give someone a fucking hiding at home soon, away would be nice too but I'm struggling to remember the last time we took someone apart. Really want him to set the team up to attack at home when he can.
-
He won't even be good for Palace tbh, but the limit of their ambitions is to exist in the league and as long as he manages that it'll be a success for them.
-
That rather large IF is the major question of this season imo Agreed. Hopefully Thauvin has that in his locker. That header yesterday man

3 weeks or so since woodman fucked off right?
-
hoping he fucking terrorises arsenals back line next week
-
ah i was out of commission last week, missed that
-
i'm concerned about aarons tbh, think there's more to him not playing now, baffling why he's not played a single minute like maybe know more after the cup game

Teams will cotton on to how he plays, he has already started to show negative changes and playing people in their wrong positions. The football is gradually getting more direct. He will come undone when he winless run comes along and all of a sudden he's out of ideas aside from hoofing it. The trouble is I do suspect he's actually "good enough" to keep a team in the league these days, especially when he's allowed free reign to sign and play all the shite cloggers he wants. The league itself really is terrible, as we know, coupled with Palace rightly having low ambitions I just don't see him getting sacked there for a long while. Death it is. Palace have a good enough squad to stay up this season, and without being in danger. Most of the players who are good enough though where there before Pardew arrived, just wait until he has time to ship out those attacking minded players, it will all fall apart eventually. I'm not convinced like. As long as he's able to stick to roughly 40 games a season (going out of the cups early etc.) I'm of the opinion the league is bad enough for him to stick around a long while yet.

Watched the game yesterday (sort of) and it stank of the games with us where he got everything wrong and fluked a winner / the other team were poor enough not to take advantage. Nothing has changed at all with this prick.

I don't think there's any takers for any of our players, especially for the big money we'll want for the likes of Sissoko. That might change come January mind.
