  1. Ah well, obvs I wasn't defending that statement or indeed making it.
  2. Carroll had scored a few goals in the Premiership before getting his real chance in the Championship and with his size especially he was built for the PL. Armstrong is obviously much smaller but when he's came on for us has looked overawed and scared to pick up the ball for me, let alone take someone on. AC on the other hand dived straight in, going up against big defenders and really putting himself about. Buffon was even coming out singing his praises. Also despite being the same age Aarons' appears totally unfazed and is happy to take someone on and put himself about in the game and has shown real talent when playing in the league. I can't see why you'd regard him as the most exciting kid to come out of the academy in recent years when he's done absolutely nothing in the 2-15 minutes he's been given to try and make a mark on the game and performed no better than Adam Campbell did for us when he was getting the run-out's here and there. I'm not saying he's going to fail and be released or owt, but at this moment in time he looks nowhere being a decent PL player and only time will tell what happens with him - It's a total 50-50 how he'll turn out at the moment IMO. In Armstrong's defence when he's been on the pitch for us it's invariably been at the wrong time of games and into a team that hasn't functioned properly in an attacking sense for about 2 years, more probably. Aarons has the build and explosive pace to impact at this level now, might just take AA longer to adapt.
  3. Sunderland might well be desperate enough to pay the fee pretty soon btw, whether he'd go there is another question.
  4. totally agree with that, apart from I think Anita is just as crap as the others. Don't understand why they're so keen to get rid of Abeid like. I like Anita's movement and recycling of possession but feel that until there's a working system we're pissing in the wind persevering with him, especially partnered with Colback.
  5. Wijnaldum & Sissoko is all we've got. I'd let Colback, Anita and Tiote go tomorrow in place of one quality CM and keep Abeid as 4th choice. And I like Anita fwiw
  6. It's pretty incredible how hard they have to try every season yet we've had Ashley purposefully hobbling the club any way he can since promotion and we can't even manage to get ourselves in as much of a mess
  7. Isn't there quotes that we'd been scouting Mbemba for ages? Yes, but the decision to buy him at this point being opportunist, rather than we weren't watching him previously. Think we'll still buy a big defender. The fact it looks like our perseverance with Thauvin has paid off, has given me a lot of hope regarding Abdennour. It's been a similar story there. Lots of reports of firm bids, and Monaco wanting more money, and the player not wanting to come etc. There has been no further interest in the player from other clubs, and not long ago there were reports the player was open to Newcastle, and then it went a bit quiet. Negotiating still perhaps? And now reports we will go back after tying up Thauvin. I mean we had been linked with bigger big money centre backs from the outset, and Mbemba was really cheap, and I just think we all just assumed that was it. I'm feeling good about the situation right now. Think Mbemba was just an extra i.e. too good to ignore at that price. Also got more money to Anderlecht who had to give some of the fee for Mitrovic to Partizan. You might be right in a way seeing as he'd had talks with two other clubs before we ponied up the money, maybe the club thought be was too good a prospect to lose out on a la MYM
  8. Good. Hopefully Colo gets hobbled before the lads confidence gets shot to fuck. Mind he's got a few harrowing games coming up. Aye, hopefully he has to play alongside Williamson or Taylor, that'll give him a boost. i think he'd be much better off with taylor atm like Hmm, not so sure, couldn't be much worse though I suppose. taylor is dumb enough for his confidence never to be shot, colo is mentally and physically broken at this level, that much is clear, so what kind of example he's setting mbemba is anyone's guess

  10. Doubt it, SM has been loving Moussa recently in interviews and phone ins. We know that counts for little. Can't see Thauvin being brought in as a squad player so, assuming we aren't going 4-4-2, he'll play wide right of a 3 in a 4-2-3-1 and I don't think Moussa would cut it in the two. fwiw I do see Wijnaldum dropping into the two when he's up to speed with the premiership and De Jong is fit. Could see Sissoko taking the advanced CM spot through the middle and Wijnaldum dropping in with Anita. Thauvin wide right, Aarons wife left when he loses patience with Obertan. Could be very effective.

  12. Not according to most French journalists and French football fans. A quick scan of Twitter confirms that. Most seem to think that he has played poorly recently but he's got HUGE potential and ability that not many others have in France (hence so many comparisons to Ben Arfa). Cabella was never rated that highly. Potential-wise yeah, despite his erratic form last season, most people will say Thauvin has the higher ''ceiling'' as it were. On current ability, I'd put them more or less level; I would disagree that Cabella wasn't highly rated in France but Thauvin seems to have a bigger reputation. Is he quicker than Cabella with the ball at his feet? If so he's got a much better chance of making an impact in this league.
  13. I hope if Cabella goes it's just a fee agreed for purchase that we could sack off if he goes there and tears the place up. I suspect it'll be some bullshit low fee locked in for them to buy a la Mbiwa however
  14. This from the guy that gets wound up all of the time. Like the journalistic John Carver this fella. Without the journalism skills. Seriously, is there any cunt at the Chronicle that edits his articles before they go out? They're littered with spelling errors every single day. It's a wonder he gets his name right. Daily Ryder is quality on Twitter
  15. He was thrown out of NUFC by fuckwit shit managers and relegation battles ensued. He was thrown out of Hull by another shit manager and Hull were relegated. Viva HBA!
  16. Can he beat a full back and whip a cross in consistently? That's about all we need to know tbh, if he can do that then he would be one of only two players at the club who can.
  17. Imagine signing Thauvin, shipping Cabella out and then playing Thauvin as a number 10 ahead of De Jong and Perez It would literally be the most stupid transfer in history.
  18. This. And we're not getting any.
  19. Hopefully can play right, then once McLaren wakes up to Obertan we'll have him and Aarons either side of Mitrovic
  20. This. Though I agree with playing Taylor and what TCD said about the spine. We gotsta change it ASAP.
  21. god forbid a highly successful, professional, unmarried woman likes to have sex EVERY DAY and doesn't just pop out bairns and get in the kitchen eh lads? BITCH
  22. he's chosen to back colo and offer him a new contract when everyone knows his finished he's chosen to play anita and colback as protection for one of the worst defences the league has seen in the last 2-3 years, not even pardew was this fucking stupid he's chosen to play obertan ahead of genuine talent like aarons and perez he's chosen to play cisse as a lone striker which he's been poor (at best) at in his entire 4 years at the club these are steve mclarens choices, not mike ashleys - there are alternatives to all of them, some of them tactical rather than personnel, but there are alternatives, at the moment he's making a lot of wrong decisions
