  1. Rob Lee has raised a good point about players looking at us selling and not buying and the impact it will have on our squad this summer. He's right, what chance of us keeping Remy now? Assuming we ever had the intention that is. As I said in the Pardew thread, our case isn't helped by how little the management and coaching do for most of the players we sign. I suppose some people might still be subscribing to the idea the players aren't very good like, I prefer the sane option.
  2. Every thread I go in about our players I come out wondering why the fuck they would want to stay here any longer. The list of players he's arguably fucking up is mental: Marv, HBA, Mapou, Santon, Anita, Cisse, Sissoko - all of these are players I could imagine thinking they're rotting away under this clown. On the plus side Gouffran has done better than expected under him I suppose, Debuchy has settled in but might have other options, and Remy we all know about. I just can't escape the overwhelming feeling that he's holding this squad back to a horrible extent, alas it's unlikely we'll find out as they'll probably force a move before he gets the boot.
  3. well for a start just last week he said we were top of the league ian...now apparently we're aiming to bust out of the league we're already top of and take down the worst manyoo team in 25+ years, but i suppose we'd better be very, very careful 'cause if we do manage it and end up in 7th, or god forbid 6th, we could be in europe again and might as well just fast forward to the 2015-2016 season when we're in the championship still at that point pardew will only have 3 years or so left on his contract, so it's not all bad
  4. Hard to tell, most of our players off the ball movement is backwards. i'm a massive fan of benny like but even at our recent best with cabs pulling the strings i can't recall him ever being the guy looking in behind for the pass, barely recall him doing much in the way of give & go's (the go part)... if he lays a pass off more often than not he's pretty static it was actually watching YT vids of cabella that it struck me i can hardly recall him ever having it in his game seems like it should work both ways, movement around him is woeful when he has the ball, as you say it's maybe even negative movement, but his is shite when others have the ball too, he's very static and always seems to want the ball at his feet before he'll move EDIT: when i say recent best i mean of course since cabs was at the club, rather than this season where benny has been ostracised by knackers for massive parts of it He's not really a give and go player, and that's one of the reasons he's not popular with a lot of managers. My view is that he's stopped caring much one way or another anyway. He doesn't look anything like the player that shone in the second half of the season where we finished 5th. He doesn't look fit and he doesn't look bothered. I think we'll see that spread through a lot of the squad as we struggle to finish this season. Agree yeah. Was just something that had been on my mind about him, don't think it's anything pardew has coached out of him for once, just something he's not natural at and needs coaching and encouragement with Very limiting feature not to have for someone like him tbh, probs goes part way to explaining him never really becoming a top class player as opposed to someone who can be top class on his day.

  6. am i right in thinking his off the ball movement is utterly fucking shit?
  7. imho his tendency to be ahead of the game with his excuses really, really works on a lot of people...he's talking about how hard he's got it at every opportunity and when journalists come to talk about us that's what's in their minds, same as with a lot of fans
  8. man city starting to lose their mojo in nice time i see
  9. I would suggest that a comment calling his summary clueless is just as clueless a summary. We were ultimately outclassed but that didn't stop us being the better side until the second goal and most of the team most certainly did show fight. Remember this is a side shorn of Cabaye, Tiote, Gouffran, Colo and Debuchy. The resultant squad Pardew's had to pick from is Ashley or Kinnear's fault, not Pardew's or the players left. In my opinion. Better side? You are joking right? We were second best all over the pitch for the duration of the game. All of the above are culpable but this should not take away from Pardews incoherent tactics. Wasn't my opinion, was the opinion of the Chelsea Manager. people really, really need to make much more effort to divorce pardew's actual performance with that of the players he does or does not have everyone is just buying it all the time because he never stops talking about it, i honestly can't think of a manager who talks up his own hardships like pardiola so much and everyone just picks up a spoon and gulps down the shit again an oft repeated point of mine from the relegation threat season is that good managers earn their money when the chips are down, when they don't have their first choices and circumstances aren't great...if we wanted someone who could only win games when the first choice 11 is available then they might as well give me the job, i'd be a lot cheaper than pardew and wouldn't talk a 10th as much shite (well maybe) he's rubbish, he needs to fuck off
  10. At least I agree with you on this one, don't have the confidence I did for Man Utd. Although I can never be confident of Jose cunting anyone, but if it's going to be someone, it will probably be us. Too much going on for me, Manyoo things were cooking nicely for pards and his main (apparently only) man won the game for us. Pards is awful under pressure. Fully expect to concede and fold like a cheap suit with a sending off somewhere along the way. Probs Debuchy.
  11. i can't see anything but a right cunting here tbh, then again last time i said that pardiola pulled one out the hat
  12. See Brett's back in action then
  13. is that happening? "Match-going fans - deserving of blame?" Seems I never read the op. I thought it was about pardew saying the fans had got on the players backs. Assumed it had developed from there into this.
  14. trophy winner, would go down a treat in the toon like
  15. best thing he could do now really is appoint someone to run the club within clearly set boundaries and walk away from it himself entirely not that he'd do it but approach say cortese and ask him to run the club with a set of financial boundaries that don't end up costing him money, within those financial boundaries the chairman can appoint who he likes, sign who he likes etc. it really shouldn't be so hard cortese would come with the added bonus of having history with pardew (?) as well
  16. Chaos is the illusion of progress. We will now have an extended period where a "replacement" is sought, it'll take said patsy the summer to settle into the job and we'll not sign who we need, he'll repeat the kinnear inactivity until he leaves too. Cheaper than signing players. All of which doesn't help us with what's going on with the moron in charge of stuff on the pitch.
  17. jesus i'd forgotten how bad debuchy was
  18. there may be some truth to that but i'm not buying it all, the hoofball to shola was obviously very planned, considered and deliberate - it was f*** all to do with composure imho and it's what cost us the game, not big vurn mistiming a tackle I think that was definitely part of the tactics but I think there's a case to be made that it became as integral as it did because he'd failed to instill the right mentality in the players. hm, i didn't see a lot of panic from williamson, taylor and whoever else was hitting the long balls...very often they were driven and without doubt it was their only intent the moment they received it really couldn't see that it was something they fell back on due to confidence
