  1. more than half the world record that's just been set i suppose, has to be an element of arsenal having to spend their 180m in that fee + real fleecing them to claw back some bale money
  2. 42.4m for ozil, that considered decent business?
  3. If Cabaye stays I would very much like to see knackers play him with Sissoko and Anita as the default midfield. The way Anita plays is good for others and I reckon it could be a very good setup. HBA, Remy plus another as the front three. I reckon Cabaye needs the smile putting back on his face, playing some good football will sort him out IMO.
  4. I'm not a pardew fan and I like it, always been of the belief that many of our players are good enough if just allowed to play instead of being prevented from doing so by the silver fox If he goes out to play football and score goals with the players he has we'll have a decent enough season
  5. Said it in this thread when he was appointed, just based on he plays the game the right way, and if he's backed to buy quality players then it's a formula for success. They will be real CL contenders this year. question mark with him was the lack of cutting edge at swansea, i.e. was it because he didn't have the players or was it because his style was just keepball...appears to be the former, he's also developing as a manager...can you fucking imagine that?
  6. agree, still, they look poorer than you'd expect and he really doesn't look like he's handling things well
  7. Agree with most of that but, Sczeszny !!!! i wouldnt put him in charge of my rhubarb never mind a top four premier league teams goal so many questions
  8. Grudgingly agree with this, against every sinew of my being. yep
  9. they were my pick actually once lukaku left, they had that thing about them that they've been hovering above their real level for a season or two and reality was about to come crashing home
  10. as much as we don't want it, liverpool are going to be decent under rodgers like...they got the right bloke at the right time fuckers parky's time is over imo
  11. not sure i'm comfortable with manyoo being shite quite so quickly, was anticipating a much more gradual decline i'm uneasy with it when they're potentially going to be replaced with fucking liverpool
  12. i don't think there's any reasoning it, maybe he's living his life via the dice and chooses who plays where by the roll...we've had a couple of sensible weeks but we might be back to anita on the bench, sissoko up front and shola on the wing again next match
  13. seriously worried about these fuckers now, there really isn't a lot wrong with them in football terms
  14. Madness if we drop him like, but then again he shouldn't have been dropped after his god spell last season bit he was and we barely saw him again. Pleased people are finally seeing what the lad can give us when offered a chance.
  15. Full of shite as usual.
  16. People are gloating because we beat an awful Fulham side in the 86th minute? What's there to gloat about? He still chose to start Shola and he's still chosen to play the wrong players and players in the wrong place for over a year. Really hope he learns from this and we go to attack mediocre teams the rest of the season, if he does that we'll be fine and people like cabaye will probably end up wanting to stay. This is all most have been saying all along, that he just needs to play the right players the right way, nothing special was ever required from the man yet he was contriving to fuck it up for reasons best known to him. One thing has been very clear all along, while we don't have cl class players they've always been better than relegation fodder. Sincerely hope his eyes have been opened and we push on from here, history suggests that when we take a tanking from someone he'll panic and revert to fearball. Hope not.
  17. Watching a poor steam but it seems to me that if Fulham decide they want to score and win the match we're probably fucked
  18. i think this needs a thread in itself, this is such a massive feature of how people view football it boggles my mind....i can see pardew has gone, there's no coming back for him it's just a matter of time yet it's such a paradox; i want X to succeed because he's our manager despite the fact that he's clearly incapable and at best will only ever succeed in reintroducing 1980's football that may have short term success no idea idea what i'm saying now, suppose i'm suggesting there's a basic ignorance in football fans that they'd rather ignore what's in front of their face for a couple of decent saturday's out Thanks for your response. Believe me I am a fan who can see "what's in front of their face" and I've seen the crap that we played at times last season and have the fears that if we don't sort it out there could be more where that came from. And as far as the club is concerned there is also the JFK appointment to bring into play......But yet I still see signs that we can play and I saw signs last season as well, and some of those signs were in games where we got no points. So, in summary, despite my "basic ignorance", I hope you are wrong. Sorry, awful choice of words, but there's something like a "default setting" in football fans then (not specifically you) to hope for change when all evidence points to the fact that it will not change for the better, nor the longevity of a manager being the best thing for us. Pardew staying with us long term will not result in our success, this is surely obvious to everyone now right? It's an across the board football thing and I wonder if it's specific to football? Do rugby fans behave the same, I wonder.
  19. spurs are the london us ffs, to see them succeed in anything other than short term would see a tear in the space time continuum

  21. While we're on the subject Everything he said there was perfectly fine, but the bolded bit just didn't need saying http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-keep-demba-ba-as-75million-1198658 Everyone thought this until Pardew felt the urge to tell us he was still available. Please tell me that you don't actually believe that Ba's agents didn't know about this clause. Obviously not. You're missing the point anyway so you're wasting your time. Perhaps you would care to explain your point then? My point is that Pardew 'revealing' the existence of the clause has absolutely no bearing on whether Ba would be sold or not. Any interested buyer would know about the clause. You and I may not have known about it, but that is irrelevant. Pardew going on and on about it is going to increase the chances of an interested buyer though isn't it? If he's in the press saying that Ba's available on the cheap, Club A from Country X who previously hadn't thought twice about Demba Ba and hadn't looked into any clauses are suddenly alerted to the fact that he's available for hugely less then his true value. Your argument that "everyone knew anyway" assumes that every football manager in the world is aware of every single player in the world's contract situation at any time, which I suspect is not the case. We only got Cabaye because we snuck in round the back and exploited a clause - we probably wouldn't have if Lille's boss had been in L'equipe every day for six months shouting "French international and title winner, four million paaahnd!" It's like any form of advertising. I've got my house up for sale and that's public knowledge for anyone who looks into it. But there's likely to be more people looking into it if I'm giving fucking press conferences every day telling everyone that I'm telling it for half the true value. this, and as i also said it telegraphs your intentions to the player, his agent, and anyone else who might pay a passing interest
