righto man, lambert made a right cunt of the plan on saturday didn't he?
-
well put, sums up last season for me
-
you're wrong man, face it, happens sometimes

so that doesn't make tiote a footballer? which is what you've said bollocks He's a defensive midfielder who can't be trusted to retain or distribute the ball. What's his purpose? just because you keep saying things doesn't make them indisputable facts as much as you'd like it to be the case tiote was shit under pressure when the team was terrible and there was no-one, literally no-one showing for the ball...things have changed, i disagree completely that tiote is incapable of retaining possession as long as people around him are showing for the ball and our general play continues to put the other team on the back foot rather than inviting them onto us like we saw last year

ronaldo backs up flimsy opinion with nothing shocker Flimsy opinion. 90% of the forum and pretty much every PL manager has Tiote's weaknesses sussed. If you wanna carry on being silly or pretending to be silly, fine. 2 points: agree his weaknesses were exposed and exploited for the last year or more he's played in the most static team in the PL imo, as a team we've been constantly on the back foot and under pressure hence all the long balls and almost getting relegated i don't see these things in isolation, the second enhanced the first to the point where he barely looked a footballer anymore, i agree, but he showed on saturday that if he has options for a short pass (which it looks like he now has) he can still win the ball and play it simple no-one is saying he'll be a world beater again but don't tell me he can't make a passable PL DM 'cause that's horseshit...i'm not saying tmonkeys entire post was right but the last sentence or so is spot on, there is absolutely no reason he can't emulate the anita role albeit with a more defensive focus
-
he got that wrong too then

just ignored the majority of that then i see

did this against villa tbf, very noticeable when i was watching him...got the ball and moved it quickly and short...that site someone posted showed he made 20 passes with 90% accuracy after he came on he can be effective if he keeps it simple, i've always believed this one thing you didn't touch on in your post i felt was the moments of outright idiocy he has on a far too regular basis...if he cuts them down and plays the ball fast and short when he wins it he'll be ok again for us anita should start every home game without question, can see how pardew might want tiote performing the same role away but with more strength (albeit it's not what i would do)

that couple of times at close quarters when he looked like getting tackled but flicked the ball over the midfielders head then stepped around him and took the ball was fuckin class like

surely? -
much of that goes for williamson when he was getting games
-
send him scotland, he'd be a legend
-
nah absolutely, i'm with him as long as he doesn't fuck this up now...however we got here we're here and he has an opportunity which i sincerely hope he takes it was inevitable but i'm more on his side now because him succeeding would stick it to ashley and kinnear which i would really like (as well as it meaning we'd succeed too, obviously) uncharted territory for pards isn't it, will this now be his second longest managerial job? he's certainly never been around this long in the PL
-
how would you know when he's playing people out of position and gameplan that does not suit any of them except Ba (until he left)? you're totally hung up 'playing in the right places' now but i've already said his woeful gameplan vs. the players he had at his disposal, plus his tendency to stick with players who weren't performing, plus playing people in the wrong place were all contributory factors in how awful last year was but keep sticking the one thing i said if you like i always think back to anita when we were on that bad run and cabaye got injured, he came in and played well, was easily our best player at that time and was the main driver in any decent football we played...his reward was to be shitcanned to the bench the moment cabaye returned never to be seen again
-
thank christ and what ian w just said, pardew did the opposite of that with his fear-based approach last year...imo he did more damage than good last year in almost every sense
-
is that a response to me? either way it's a fucking terrible post Not as bad as suggesting that good players just need to be played in the right position and success is then inevitable. well i was being flippant, see my response to brett for more detail, and the point wasn't that success would be inevitable playing players in the right place - it was that in doing so he would have had a much better chance of avoiding the abject failure of last season i thought that was fucking obvious, apparently not
-
oh ok then, as i'm an idiot perhaps you can enlighten me how everything has changed so suddenly then given that we have the same manager the same players (+ remy but he's barely played a full game total) the same coaching staff he talked about playing passing football last year yet we played the opposite, i personally attribute that to his playing certain people who consistently underperformed last year when all evidence said drop them combined with his tactical approach to be defensive and not lose games and playing people in the wrong place...the players were never suited for the style of football last year, it was so obvious man of course it's not as simple as just playing 11 players but perhaps it's as simple as being forced to play anita which imo has been the catalyst for us to realise we're able to pass the ball around short, keep possession and attack teams properly....this is the same anita he chose to overlook last season even when he was the only positive thing we had around the holiday period at the end of the day if he's getting credit for the last few games, he deserves everything that comes with how bad last season was look at it another way, vs. villa if he'd played cabaye in the anita role, cisse in the remy role and sissoko as a number 10 do you think we'd have performed as well? neither do i, it's the type of shit he was pulling all last year though...playing players in the right place can make a massive difference man

this is exactly right, literally what was being said by a lot of us for over a season - that pardew was holding us back and was a massive cause of last season being terrible because he did everything wrong all he ever had to do was put them in the right places and let them play
-
village, how have barca started under this new fella then? obviously they're 100% but has he changed much in the way you play? see you're still shipping a fair few goals...
