What areas of his game are second to none? He's a good passer, that's it And even then, as mentioned, his pass completion percentage is lower than Hayden, Merino and Diame. And this is a perfect example of why stats don't give you the full picture. Which is why I use my eyes as well. Can't wait until he's stinking up another team instead of us. How many of our games have you been at this season? Not being funny but you really don't see the full picture when watching on TV. Bit of a shit argument lead in, as you're stating your opinion as the correct one before we've even discuss anything Whilst I agree the viewing experience is much more enjoyable live at a stadium, I much prefer to watch a game again (or see highlights) on TV to get a proper idea of how certain players played. We just vary in opinion there, but in my eyes it's all about personal preference than anything else.

What areas of his game are second to none? He's a good passer, that's it Erm, you said it yourself - passing... When we're actually playing on the front foot and have possession for decent stints, Shelvey is comfortably the best & most talented player in our squad. Ah right, I thought when you said "areas" which is plural you might be talking about more than one area. Silly me Terribly sorry friend. Vision would be another, which is a separate attribute to passing, although they go hand-in-hand. His vision is out of this world at times. Brilliant. You're seriously suggesting Shelvey has better vision than Merino when it comes to passes? What? What?!

See my other point, "chance creation"

And using your eyes, the best passer in our team is? Merino, by a country mile. Really? I reckon there's much more evidence pointing to Shelvey like, Merino looks good, but bar 2 or 3 passes I don't think you can really base your statement on any tangible evidence thus far. His pass completion and chance creation stats are fairly conclusive to back up my argument.

Just so blatantly wrong that's it's not even worth engaging you on why Stats don't lie. Neither does eyes. He's much more of a liability than an asset. Would be happy to see the end of him (if we replace him).

We don't have many good players. Shelvey is a top Championship team player, at best. We need to improve on players like Shelvey. If you look at stats (which I know some people hate and others love), he's barely doing more for the team than Joselu when he's on the pitch. Naturally, if we sell him to not get someone better in, it's suicide.
-
'Zero red cards' Clutching at straws there. If he has the same pass accuracy then he needs to seriously improve it because 90% of Hayden's passes are 5 yards or less whereas a large chunk of Shelvey's are 40-50 yards. Shelvey on average passes 7 metres longer than Hayden. Hayden in turns plays in a more defensive position, so it's only natural he passes shorter.
-
This seems a fair assessment. I'd say Shelvey was just a tiny bit better than Hayden if he wasn't such a liability card wise.
-
Hayden has the same pass accuracy, better shot accuracy, zero red cards, for starters. Shelvey has created three more chances though, to be fair to him.

Look what happened the last time we signed a young striker who scored goals in a lesser league and relied on him to stay up. Comparing the Scottish league to the Belgian one is flawed as well, as the Belgian league at least has some good teams in it. Scottish league is four spots beneath Azerbaijan on the UEFA league rankings, fwiw

Lascelles, Gayle, Merino, Yedlin, Ritchie, Atsu, Hayden are all players I'd say are better. Naturally I'd also include Mitro, but he never gets to play, so yeah I'd even be inclined to say that Saivet is better, based only on his last appereanced. Fuck Shelvey.

We won’t selll one of our best players, especially to a relegation rival. Shelvey... one of our best players...

Rather Slimani than Dembele tbh.
