Dubravka will do just fine at that level of football, it’s mostly league one standard.
-
That would mean £80m spent before addressing CB, RW, and ST.
-
I predict everything will be clearer after the Euros.
-
This is my problem, it’s hard to gain experience as a backup keeper without either being loaned out or first choice getting a big injury. It’s not like other positions where players need resting or subbing off after 60 minutes. If Pope stays fit then we’ve spent £20m on someone that barely plays.
-
Not many teams have a 2nd choice keeper this expensive.
-
If it’s true we must have a big budget this summer. I was expecting things to be tight.

I feel like I’m quite close to fucking the sport off. I’m hesitant to even call it a sport when we have the rules rigged in favour of a small group of clubs. I don’t even want us to spend more than anyone else, and I don’t care about the premier league being the biggest league in the world, but if there’s no route for clubs to compete for trophies, then what’s the point? We’re just supposed to exist as feeder clubs? Like the footballing equivalent of faceless goons that get shot in the head by John Wick? Either bring down the spending of the top clubs so that it’s in line with the rest of the league, or allow the rest of the league to compete financially with the top clubs if they have investors capable of it. It can be done in such a way that doesn’t bankrupt clubs.

Shite.

Weirdly impressed with Southgate’s selections this time around.
-
We managed to hide him from Boehly.
-
We need a keeper, but if you’re going spend big money then they should go into the first team. We need a number of players and have already got £30m going on Hall.
-
It won’t happen IMO, we won’t have the room in our budget for a £20m+ backup keeper.
-
Signing Mbappe might mean Madrid win loads of trophies. Fucking boring transfer.
-
He won’t go for that, but I’ve seen links for £30m in recent months, which would also be absurd. Perhaps that number is being put out there to make £30m look reasonable.
-
I doubt anyone buys him due to his lack of playing time and fitness. Maybe a loan with an option to buy could happen.
-
Why not, they only signed 2 keepers last summer for a combined £40m, on 7 year contracts. Plus they’ve got a keeper they spent £70m on still on their books.
-
We’ve already got around £30m committed to buying Hall.
-
Not many clubs will be able to afford the wages he’s probably been given, plus a transfer fee on top.
-
I doubt it will go well for him from a footballing perspective. Chelsea are replacing a high class coach with an unproven one, and he’s competing with Colwill (who is a much bigger prospect), Badiashile, Disasi, Chalobah, Fofana, plus all the other CB’s they will buy impulsively in the coming years. It’s a high risk move. Also if Chelsea are selling Chalobah to sign Tosin, that seems pretty pointless. Maybe it helps with some FFP bullshit.
-
There was always a danger that Chelsea or Man U would come in and offer him way more money. The rules simply don’t permit us to compete with them financially. From our perspective, we can probably get a better player but it’ll massively impact what we can spend elsewhere. We might have to use loans again for RW and ST. Maybe something can be arranged with Juve for Huijsen and Soule.
-
He slows the game down. We could do with more players that know how to slow the game down at times.
-
How much would you pay for him?
-
A lot of great captains played on the edge, and many of them in the same position he plays.
-
You can’t sell players that are injured all the time anyway. Look at Tierney, Arsenal would love to have sold him by now and everyone knows he’s a good player.
-
Relieved to hear we’ll be after good players. Going after bad players would’ve been a strategic mistake.
