I'm no expert on Szoboszlai, but he hasn't sounded like a middle 3 type of midfielder to me, and he's not displacing Salah. Whatever they have planned for him will be very different to what our plans would have been.

Without looking into the details I am a little surprised at how unrestricted Arsenal’s spending is. I’m sure they were making big losses year after year during their time out of the CL.

I suspect we moved on from him a while back, there’s been no real evidence we’ve been in for him since last summer. Maybe he would have chosen Spurs anyway, but it also seems that that is his only choice.

But what about the value of the club as a result of the investment? Man City and Chelsea can probably sell for much more than has been invested in them. So there’s a strong argument that the money being pumped in makes good business sense. Btw the obvious answer to all of this is for clubs in the same league to have the same transfer budget and wage budget. It’s clearly most desirable situation from a sporting point of view. No clubs will want it though as they all want an unfair financial advantage. ESL clubs certainly don’t want it, as they have made two attempts recently to permanently kill off everyone outside their elite group.

I expect very few top clubs could legitimately claim to have got where they are without financial doping/external investment at some point. It’s also only very recently that getting pumped with money has been framed as cheating, as that’s the narrative that currently suits the ESL clubs.

Fuck these ESL clubs. They tried to kill off everybody outside their little club, and now they want sympathy because there are more Gorillas in the room now.

I just don’t see non-Saudi’s watching it, I certainly won’t be. Until the Saudi’s buy their way into the CL/future super league anyway.

Bernardo Silva is a big loss to the game. I get choosing the money if you’re around 32 and looking at your last big contract, but Silva is nowhere near that yet. I suppose it’s just a job to a lot of players at the end of the day.

Why do you want Cucurella? Even if he was good he would be our highest paid player (Tonali aside).

Guler just seems like the type that will be at Ajax/Dortmund for a couple of years and then go for 100 mil. We need to get them at this stage rather than the next stage. The likes of Man Utd can afford to wait and see how things develop.

Bernardo Silva works his bollocks off though as well as being a brilliant player. Maddison is probably below average off the ball and weak in 50/50s IMO. I think if we signed him he’ll have some improving to do.
