I always found the assumption that Liverpool would take him strange. They will be able to go for the best managers in the world, so unless Gerrard really dominated Celtic over a few years I don’t see why they would go for him.

Most of the SPL are league one standard, so I find it very hard to properly judge him right now. All you can really say is that it’s a gamble IMO.

I think Klopp’s impact at Liverpool has been bigger than Guardiola’s at Man City, he’s done it with less money, and he’s also managed successfully at a lower level which I think should mean something.

It’s hard to rate him against mid table managers given what happened at Cardiff. Most premier league managers have achieved something at championship or lower premier league level without having giant financial advantages.

Protracted new manager searches almost always end up looking farcical, the same thing happened to Spurs and Everton in the summer. I think Palace had Nuno and Favre wrapped up as well until they didn’t.

Quite like Eddie Howe tbh, he would have been towards the bottom of my shortlist. I see him similar to Graham Potter and don’t hold the Bournemouth relegation against him, I think that was always going to happen eventually. If Emery is out though I would go for Favre.

Overall Spurs results this season haven’t been that bad IMO, but I understand performances haven’t been good even when they’ve won. A manager should obviously get longer though. It would be a really poor career move for Conte, he’s front of the queue for the big jobs.

I doubt Martinez would come right now even if we wanted him. My guess it’s just his agent trying to keep his name relevant in club football.

I’m not sure Jones is anything special as a coach and I think Martinez’s career would be toast if he hadn’t lucked out with the Belgium job.

I don’t know if anyone bothered with those overlap debates on YouTube, but I recall Carragher telling the Everton fan that Rafa would leave for Newcastle if the chance came along. He might have just been winding him up though.
