If Campbell still existed as a footballer, I would rate that as equivalent with our own, tbh.

 How did I miss Gyan being shipped off to the UAE? What is the point in even playing there if you are not getting the mad wages? Sunderland are in for a long season.

Why is it a problem? You have to wonder why it's even being brought up as an issue. Has someone complained they aren't getting a break? I always assumed not many black players looked on coaching as a career after football. When 25% of the playing workforce is Black and around 1% of the coaching workforce is Black there will always be an issue. It is definitely a combination of all the factors listed above and it should theoretically get better with time, but for now it cannot be written off and should be looked upon as something to address in the British game. Similarly, the FA should be doing everything possible to promote the game in the UK's vast Asian and Arab communities as they are underrepresented at all levels (except ownership).

The other teams in the KHL are all supporting the idea for each team to send one player to Lokomotiv to rebuild their team to start the season. Cool idea....not sure on how the logistics would work etc. Maybe they'd like Alan Smith? That's fantastic that like. Reminds me of the Zambian side that lost the entire team in a crash and rebuilt the side from scratch and made it all the way to the ACN final the following year - taking the lead in the final vs Nigeria only to lose. Still stands as their best ever finish IIRC. Twas. The only player not to be killed in the accident was Kalusha Bwalya, one of Africa's greatest ever players. With that motivation and his leadership they nearly crafted one of sport's all time tales. Unfortunately, this once great side have yet to recover. They did get back to the knockout stages of the ACN in 2010, but Vincent Enyeama and Nigeria denied them once more.

Yes, this is known. Whatever happens he needs to get out of Venlo as soon as possible. Very useless team. Was nice to see us play a top team, though it wasn't a great performance and we received a just result. Messi murdered the life out of our soul again. Could not contain the guy. This country just has no depth in defence. It was a second choice back five outside of Yobo and this was rather obvious. In a positive sense, Mikel Obi was imperious (despite one bad error) while Joel Obi, Musa, Obasi, and Ogunde also did quite well. We should be a threat in subsequent ACN/WC if we actually qualify/have some organisation.

The pitch we played on today in the away match against Madagscar: http://api.ning.com/files/z7vGjwCU3U7v*NoyJDalE8LytTpwykEV7qD0mutj2rF0L63-2vVG7K4BNS-TlQ601NPY2j065C19hM1BS92CRw__/IMG00054201108311515.jpg?width=721 http://api.ning.com/files/nPrS*XBeCXWIZI2RfJ*f*WKLe9jMczDFCKcDvv23sr0Vzr8cXRZ2q2IOLFbJm6Puw2VGbHK3xFuEjLI5uAI9**6HM6NtdxTA/IMG00056201108311515.jpg?width=721 2-0 a good result in the circumstances. I am stunned we have been allowed to play on this. South African football has been whipped into a state of exhilaration that feels just as good as sipping champagne out of Shakira's belly button

I don't understand football clubs. If you have a talented 20 year old footballer with name recognition who was considered a world class prospect a year ago, it is prudent to keep him on your books. Have some idiot club pay you 1 million for his services on loan, as insurance if the player actually fulfills his potential and becomes a 20 million pund player. It is worth forgoing the five million.

Jamie Redknapp quote with which I disagree: "I actually thought they were crying out for a bit of 'Britishness'. I really thought they needed someone like Scott Parker and in that respect I still don't think they have sorted out a problem that was crying out to be fixed: they still don't have someone to sit in front of that back four." The idea that Arsenal's problems could be fixed by becoming more British (especially by signing Scott Parker) annoys me greatly. Also, Scott Parker does not play the role described in any way. Song is superior at that particular position, anyway. The two best British players that play the holding role or Muamba and Barry who I pray Arsenal do not pursue. "Joey Barton went down with Newcastle not long ago so knows what is needed to stay up" What? Use logic, idiot. Actually the quotes are not that egregious. I have decided that I hate the man. UK football analysis as a whole is one of the worst quality products I have experienced. It is simply generic unintelligent things that people on the street would say articulated in an ineloquent way. Very poor.

Is he the one that killed someone with his car? His career never recovered to the same height after his release.
-
I think he's a quite good keeper, Neil. Tim Howard will cost you points. Cech, Reina, and Friedel will cost their respective teams points. This is a specialty of goalkeepers. I think he's equivalent to most of the other keepers at the competitive clubs. Underrated because of his youth.

How about Yanga-Mbiwa from Montpellier. Young French-African that covers both right and centreback. The perfect Pardew signing.
-
Aye, massive ask really. Although Bassong more-or-less came from nowhere as far as most of us were concerned I'm fairly sure he had a decent number of first-team games under his belt with Metz. I've been harping on about centre-back since Campbell went, so apologies if it's boring people, but I was pleased to see a tidbit in one of the local rags this week that suggested Pardew had similar concerns now Williamson had been injured. Better late than never. However that's reminded me I also saw quotes from him earlier in the week stating Perch was an option to cover there when he got back to fitness... Bassong was a first team player at Metz for at least three seasons, and much of this was in Ligue 1.

I cannot think of any 6'2 plus fullbacks. I don't think there is even one non-keeper in our squad currently that is above 6'2. That is very large for a footballer and giagantagious for a fullback.
-
Just a guess here, but I believe that 15 million would be more than any other team in the Premiership paid for their current left back. Mad price.

Captain at all youth levels for France, Santon is Italy U-21 captain. It's f***ing good moves like that which make the inability to go out and fill up the squad properly even more ridiculous. We're filling up positions well with cheap, promising options but we're not doing enough of it. Exactly. I'm extremely impressed with almost all of the signings we've made this summer. We've done a fantastic job with the opportunistic, intelligent signings that allow smaller (financially) clubs to compete. The refusal to spend and the failure to address glaring needs hurt because they prevent us from being able to achieve something special. We've put together a very good team for a club that was in the Championship two years ago, bt we've wasted so much more potential.
-
The Chelsea attacking players that would be available I think, would be Kalou, Anelka, Malouda, and Benayoun. Sturridge is probably untouchable.
-
If we (or any other team I have passion for) allowed 8 goals in one match, I would have to be prevented from doing felonies. By the same token, how dare you express anger and sadness at one relegation when Plymouth are falling away into nothingness. Everything is relative.
-
I'm quite happy with the Macheda transfer taken as an individual action by the football club, but it would quite disappointing given the context of the whole transfer window. I believe he is a player who can perform for a club of our level and could be probably be bought at a low price if we actually desire his service long term. However, we really needed an experienced, proven striker at the club. Ameobi, who could barely get a match while we were being relegated, has been one of the first names on the team sheet for nine months now. I would be very pleased with Santon, though. With the current leadership of the club, I'm split between love and hate. I think we've almost universally made intelligent, quality, and cost effective signings since our relegation, but the blatant disregard for the realities of football is grating.

Erdinc just scored a stoppage time winner for PSG against Toulouse. Gameiro scored the first, actually.
-
PSG needed him more apparently. Wasn't there a time where Arshavin was good at shooting? Quite good, actually. I am sure I remember this.
-
You cannot say anything more than hopefully unless the player is signing a contract and taking a physical. Otherwise you look like a dickhead. Pardew will not find that acceptable.
-
Impending sale of Wilkinson or Shawcross for 10+ million?
-
PSG signed Diego Lugano apparently.

I still remember that match for Inter against Catania where Muntari came in at something like the 75th minutes and managed to get 2 yellow cards, a red card, and give away a penalty in about 60 seconds. It was a level of sheer stupidity that I did not realsie footballers could achieve. He's been horrible at Inter, but this is not FM. I do not care that he's worn the colours of our bitter rivals, if he can come and recapture his Pompey form, we will have one of the most formidable midfields in recent midtable Premiership history.
