  1. I think Spurs should play Bale and Lennon on the flanks to run at our fullbacks who are clearly the weakest links of the team. Spurs centebacks are average Premiership quality. The whole backline and keeper is questionabl, imo.
  2. So many Angels. http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/8746/loveangelscouplesbackgr.jpg What an unnecessarily provocative image.
  3. I haven't managed to see any of this, but I'm definitely looking forward to MOTD tonight. It has been a a good while since I've been this excited about our team. The last time was probably when we thrashed Spurs under Keegan with the three strikers upfront. Extremely happy to see Jonas get a goal. His consistent hard work and imperious effort warrants his name on the score sheet. I feel the same way about defenders and holding midfield players who are always in the team, but especially Jonas as he actuallys brings so much to our attacking play. So happy with Krul as well. We have a star for years to come.
  4. Yeah i don't really get that. How the f*** do any of them get away with it? Bizarre. Cant even begin to imagine what would happen if someone did that at any other derby in the country. We are all Scousers, and in times gone by men used to go to the match every week, Goodison one week and Anfield the next, no matter which one they actually supported. The geography of both grounds is such that there are no specific blue or red parts of the city and families, streets, workplaces are all mixed. Very interesting aspect of the derby, then. It still seems very stupid from a policing standpoint.
  5. We have internet, man. How did you find Abuja? I am not from that area of the country, obviously, but I've always felt it was an extremely boring and dry city. Relatively clean and safe, though. Somehow missed this good news as well. Jonas is a consistent and hardworking player. I think he fits in perfectly with the new talent we've brought in, so this news is nothing but encouraging.
  6. I don't Best or Ameobi were ever considered as starters. If you'll notice the strikers we were linked with were mostly pacy, smaller players. I think the club were interested in pursuing a different type of striker as the three relevant ones are very similar in style. Ideally, we would eliminate one of them in January or next summer.
  7. This girl is extremely French.
  8. The cult of Ben Arfa is strong in that country. It is wonderful and amazing that such focus has been given to a player with not even ten caps. It just shows how many people have true emotion invested in the success of this wonderfully talented young specimen. It would be wonderful if he could fulfill their wishes while wearing black and white stripes on his chest.
  9. Barton was awful 4 years ago. His form over the last season and the start of this one is his best spell since years ago at Manchester City. I think the decision regarding him was more to do with what he represented among the players.
  10. What a strange career Tevez has had to this point. He hasn't left any of his employers amicably. I think he'll end up playing in Italy, personally.
  11. Two of them played for Basel, making them insignificant. Still, the Korean players have made obvious strides.
  12. This Basel result would be interesting if Manchester United had some sort of challenge from this group. Now it is just another good football match that will be forgotten as they easily cruise into the second round.
  13. Agree with every single word, Baba. Yep, pundits over here know the same as, if not less than, the fans. And they're not usually any better at expressing it either. Not surprising really, footballers don't tend to be "students of the game" in general. Wengers best team, the core were made up of players born in the UK. Campbell and Cole, is that really the core? Assuming you accept that 03/04 was their best team... According to statistics, Kanu accumulated more goals in the 2003-4 season than all of the English players combined. Obviously the issue is that lack of Ray Parlour. Lately, my greatest annoyance is the automatic red card for touching someone's face in an incident. Footballers are men, not school children. Unless someone commits an act that overtly dangerous, violent, and unnecessary, there is no reason to disrupt the game and ban this player for three matches. It is a mockery of the sport. This is what the yellow card is for. Straight reds should b reserved for professional tackles, dangerous play, and violence not nonsense like the ones given to Klasnic and Gervnho.
  14. This Marseille season has officially reached disaster level (once they finish the task of losing to Lyon). Six matches, three points, 20th in the table. Title chase over. Waste. I don't really think Manchester U were that good today. Chelsea were just atrocious.
  15. This is all you need to know about modern football. Nothing is given for the attempted murder on Klasnic is the first half, and he is given a red card for moving his head a centimeter in the second.
  16. Europe is a serious goal this season. Villa are a team that most would consider ahead of us, but we took the game to them away from home and showed more quality throughout the match. Are we scared of Villa, Everton, Stoke, and the rest of these rubbish teams? It has been said, but Marveaux must start opposite Jonas. It is bizarre to see this team with a variety of options through the centre and out wide.
  17. Why did you sell Aiyegbeni and Beckford? Selling Aiyegbeni or Beckford would have been intelligent. Selling both seems unintelligent. Especially as Saha is an injury prone player seeing out his last days.
  18. It's generally difficult to just run through the entire defence. Especially from the kickoff. The entire opposing team is in you attacking half. It is actually 2 v. 11
  19. Tiote was extremely awful. His job is to maintain possesion at all costs when he recieves the ball and to sheild the defenders/sit in the dangerous spaces when the other team is in possession. He fails in both of these aspects. He was maybe ouor best player last season, but he has played poorly in every game since Arsenal, imo. Needs to improve if he wants his move to a top six club. Ryan Taylor isn't a good footballer, but his performance tonight was far below his anaemic standards. He looked an amateur.
  20. Ryan taylor has no composure on the ball whatsoever. Similar for Simpson.
  21. Tbh I'm only ever fairly sure that we'll lose a game, games like this could be a win, draw or loss and there are a lot that seem to fit into that category, this season and last. Although clearly when I'm quite sure we'll lose, at Anfield or Stamford Bridge or Old Trafford I'll still hold out hope that that day's the day we'll win. Those games in Manchester in November f***ing terrify me. Mate, things change in football. By November, the likes of Man U, Chelsea, and the Saudis will be feeling the toll of a 50+ match season, while we might still be hard to break down and dangerous on the break. So much worse to face the big teams when all of their players are happily fit and beating you is the sole objective in their mindspace. I think not. The reason I and others stay here is because this is probably the best place I've seen with regards to partiality and common sense in matters outside of our own club (except for Sunderland and Spurs).
  22. Yeah, I'll be over here for a few months on work/internship/physical training. If you really want to meet me, you can come to Brixton on Saturday or Sunday. The one place I can guarantee I'll be.
  23. This girl and her friend took me to Fulham-Blackburn today. Rubbish match. Rubbish atmosphere. Still enjoyed myself, though. Fulham have the least intimidating crowd of any team in the world. Ruiz looked absolutely awful. Hoilett was good until the end of the match where he declined. Dempsey was the most skillful player on the pich and Duff wasted at least 30 good opportunites to cross. Had a very good view of the collision, very nasty. I agree with general tone of the post, but I think West Brom are quite a good team. I wopuld have picked them above Newcastle and Everton at the beginning of the season.
  24. Idiot, they only ever owned one of these players.
