  1. Vela won't get in the team ahead or Osaze or Tchoyi. They still don't have a target man, which is what they actually needed. When teams stop them passing, it is just Osaze chasing lost causes by himself for 90 minutes. Very ineffective.
  2. Give him time. Absolute class player that I really cannot see being a failure. Nice to see Obinna with the hattrick. Happy for him. West Ham really have a very decent strikeforce with Ba, Nsofor, Piquionne, Cole, and some decent young players. I really think they'll will stay up but I've been waiting for them to turnit around all year now.
  3. I don't see how keeping Jonas in the team over someone who hasn't played decent football in over a year warrants laughter or ridicule, but I suppose this is much easier than actual debate.
  4. Imo, Nolan and Ireland should be competing for the same position. Both are rather lazy, mecurial players that offer little in terms of ball winning or defence. Ideally, I would put Barton back in the centre and maintain Jonas and HBA as the wings. Ireland should be a legitimate option of off the bench. Something we have not had in ages. I would like to sign him permanently.
  5. It's not "irrelevant". He was alright in the relegation season, but his best performances have occurred in the Championship and this season. That's not really a big enough sample size for most clubs to justify spending that much. He's not easily the third best LB either considering his complete lack of attacking game and lack of technical ability. Que? Actually you are correct, he doesn't really lack technical ability, it's more that he has difficulty completing passes and gives the ball away a fair bit. In an attacking sense, he's not a very good crosser, and rarely creates a threat in the opponents final third.

  7. 8-10 million is a fantastic price for a 25 year old non-international left back at a newly promoted club. I'd be stunned if anyone was willing to pay us more than that.
  8. Simpson's mother must be an attractive girl.
  9. Of course, man. I have many tapes of them back at my old home. I've only seen bits and pieces, but I did my best to follow the plot until I was about 15 or 16. I even remember Monday Bandele. Class show. Sunderland have a very real opportunity for Europe this season, and they made some good acquisitions toward that goal. However, the Bent situation has exposed the reality of things. They are still a small-time club, with a small boy mentality. I do not see them progressing. However, they do seem a stable Premiership club, which is frankly more than their supporters should expect.
  10. There is no such thing as luck over a whole season. If they are higher after 38 matches than they are the better side. Injury is never an excuse. (unless there is a Dream Team-like off the field incident) Professional athletes have been paid by the club to take their place. If theses athletes are not up to standard, it is the fault of the club for not adequately preparing.
  11. The first teams are very even imo. NUFc probably has a slight advantage. I think that Sunderland has a better squad overall, though.
  12. I love Taiwo, but he's not coming here. He'll be expecting large wages when you consider the clubs we're competing with and his pedigree. Never mind the fact that we already have an international level left back and do not really need another at this time. Wish he would just stay, tbh, but he wants a new challenge. I'm annoyed that we haven't taken advantage of the loan market that other clubs have benefited from.
  13. The possibility of Onuoha being called up by Nigeria too. (if they sign him permanently) God willing.
  14. I hope Sunderland don't sign Sessegnon. He's a top player. Also, Benin are not exactly assured qualifiers for the ACN. It's a massive deal for them if they do. They've improved a fair bit, but still. Edit: Looking at the groups, they actually do have a great chance as they are in a pretty awful group, and Rwanda have underperformed thus far.
  15. It would be boring. Barca and Real are really far too dominate in that league. Only 4 teams have won the Premier League since it began, there's been 5 different winners in Spain in the same space of time. I realise this man. But I am talking about the present and the foreseeable future. The level of competition in Spain the last two years has been atrocious.

  17. Shola's general intelligence, movement, and understanding of this game places him far above whatever Ranger has to offer at this time. Ameobi is an experienced campaigner who can and will score goals for this club long into the future. Ranger is a child who specialises in chasing lost causes and rarely scoring. He has potential, but he is not the better player in January 2011.
  18. Ranger is significantly worse than Shola in all honesty. Best and Xisco have never really gotten started here, but Lovenkrands is definitely a nothing footballer.
  19. I think when inflation is considered, the price will be much closer. Also, you have to consider the football environment. Shearer's was the highest fee in history at the time, while Lescott was nowhere near this. Thinking of all this, I think Shearer will have cost more in relative terms. England is in a transition time, imo. These are always tough times for nations, and even the likes of Brasil can attest to this. By 2014, the new generation will have supplanted the old, and your press will be convinced the team will win again.
  20. When I saw that ball fall to Pierre Webo's foot, I assumed Real would win.
  21. Onyewu was awful at the World Cup and has spent the past year and a half being injured and/or not playing at all because he was too poor to get in the side. I don't know what to think of him at this point.
  22. There is no wrong direction or right direction. Is Perch a step in the right direction? There is no problem targeting older players as long we hedge the risk presented by them and supplement it with other types of signings. It is just foolish to pass up signing a talented footballer because he does not resemble other recent signings.
  23. It is idiotic to let your past dictate your future. Each decision should be made on an individual basis by looking at the possible positives and negatives. Personally I think Carrick has a lot left and may be rejuvenated by playing here. I wouldn't mind him, as long as he doesn't get a 4.5 year contract.
  24. I don't know. Playing DM is more about strength in holding players off and composure. Pace isn't that important, especially if you are playing in a midfield three. A slow centreback (i.e. Sol) is a liability to the whole team as you cannot play a high line.
  25. Redknapp and co. don't have security with them? That is just a poor job if there was an opportunity for six people to surround him and steal all of his belongings. You have to know where you are.
