There really is no way Donovan should have been in MLS for the last five years. It's prevented him from fulfilling his potential.

Didn't do well his first three times in Europe.

Coventry vs Newcastle United pre-match thread

Guthrie will probaly still play tonight. Either Butt comes off because of exhaustion or Smtuh comes off because we are terrified of him getting a second yellow. -

Shola must be one really fortunate boy considering none of the other strikers have scored more goals them him, despite playing in more matches. His 4 in 4 is slightly more appealing than Carroll's 4 in 20 and Nile's 0 in however many. *Don't confuse me with a Shola fan, but the criticism is unwarranted. -

Were they unbearable when he was banging in hattricks? There is no way he is any more frustrating than Harewood or Carroll. -

Shola's back!! It's time to run away with this league. Extremely harsh on Harewood though. -
I don't think Meghni from Lazio has been mentioned. Yahya is a decent player and scored the winner against Egypt. Gaouaoui is one of the best keepers in Africa. Overall, they are rubbish though. They are not even really a force in Africa anymore, since the West African powers awoke in the 90's. Someone like my father would remember them as a very good team, but not people my age. *I had to use wiki to find how to spell that keeper's name and found this: His name is believed to be the only surname with seven vowels in a row, reported by the International Board of Statistics.

Hypothetical "you're the manager" type thread
Segun Oluwaniyi replied to The Prophet's topic in Football
Sorry mate but First off, there's not a chance in hell Vela comes here in a permenent deal. Secondly, Marseille will not give away M'bia (Mbai ) for 7 million when we just bought him for 10 this summer. Also, it'd be nice to have some PL experence coming in with the 18 million we splashed on youths. -
Meanwhile in France.....Montpellier, who were just promoted in France, are second in the table, foru points off of first with a game in hand. This season has been mad so far.

On a whim, I caught the last fifteen minutes of the Valencia-Bilbao match and it was brilliant. Disallowed goal, horrible penalty decision, penalty miss, keeper almost scoring. Everything you'd want from a random La Liga match. The referee was terrible though. He got nearly every decision wrong.

I don't see why Chelsea should be castigated for showing a bit of passion and gamesmanship. at least they care, for goodness sake. Thanks. He's one that is fighting for a World Cup spot. Apam is warming up for the Argentina match I guess. He got sent off for headbutting Heinze and then had to be restrained from killing him in the tunnel.

How was Uche's goal?

Are we dropping Nolan, then? He'll have a match suspension surely? Ohhhh...I thought we were discussing the long term plans.

Typical, best not ever watch them. Just infuriating. Funny how no matter how much stick Drogba gets for his theatrics, the guy has no sense of shame and such a short term memory. Such an ugly team all the way through. Best team in the world at the moment, imo.

Luchooooo!!!!! Marseille 2 Lens 1. I like Chelsea because they are not Manchester or Liverpool. Also they have likable players.

Awful penalty.

Definitely, the black African nations will be hoping for each other to do well, and will be supported by the locals. It's "Africa's World Cup" after all. Then again, Nigeria and South Africa have a strong mutual dislike towards each other, but I'd hope they'd still support us. Side note: SA are going to be horrible at the World Cup. Don't be fooled. The reason they have been playing friendlies for the last year is because they couldn't get out of the first round of African qualifying (and therefore won't even appear at the Nations Cup). I hope they don't embarass themselves. That said, the Nations Cup shall be interesting. Last time Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon, and Egypt were all bitter about their non-WC qualification and outshone the WC qualifiers.
