He like Owen needs good support, and with Krancjar out i can't see them threatening tbh. The only real threats Portsmouth have are their full backs (basically wingers) Johnson and Belhadj. Nugent is painfully bad. Crouch is a good finisher, but slow. Kanu, like Viduka, needs the ball played into his feet to really cause damage. Their midfield is just as bad as ours, and if we can somehow get Barton or Guthrie back, we should have the advantage in that area.

I agree with you that it's not entirely Owen's fault that he isn't getting the ball in the box. I think it is an indictment of all our attacking play from front to back. However, it really is rendering pretty useless, whihc was my point. In the formation and way we played yesterday, there isn't really a place for him on the pitch.

Our best chance of winning right now is probaly just to find a way for Owen, Oba, Viduka, and Jonas to play at all times. They are quality players and will score. I don't agree with accomodating Owen, as he hasn't produced much, but F*** it. We have no midfield anyway, so playing him there can only be an improvement. edit: I guess Beye and the Bass Master are up there as well in players that must play.

how many teams do you follow you 4. Newcastle, Olympique Marseille, Ibadan Shooting Stars, and any incarnation of the Nigerian men's or women's national teams. Anyway, Bordeaux still lead. Lyon don't look good at all. Allezzzzzzzz L'OM babtunde, j'espere que nous gagnonssssssss. About time the french league was put the right way around. It's looking good, watch psg or bordeaux f*** it though. Ah, it's good to see a fellow l'OM supporter on the board. I'm so proud of the team this season. Really like the players in the squad and really it's a scary contrast to the way I feel on this current Newcastle team. I thought the title was gone, but they have come back strong and never given up. Gerets is fantastic. I can't wait to see them destroy Lyon at the Velodrome, the title returns to the biggest club in France.

I find that graphic pretty damning, showing how little Owen got the ball in the box. Especially as he needs to receive the ball in the box to score. Viduka can hold the ball up very well and isn't afraid to shoot when open. Martins is better outside the box than in as he can beat his man and has a powerful shot. Owen lacks these abilities. Unless we find a way to utilise Owen properly, we have three strikers in Viduka, Martins, and Carroll who are more effective in the current situation.

Scored on the weekend in the East Anglia derby Sign him. He'll be cheap and maybr not that crap. He's quite good and won't be cheap at all. I mean since when are 19 year olds with double digit caps for a major international nation cheap?

Ignacio María González signed from Valencia on year-long loan deal

So is he still injured, or just exiled from the squad for no real reason like Xisco. Considering that we're relying on Alan Smith to improve our midfield, we really had nothing to lose from letting this guy onto the pitch. -

I don't see how foreign supporters wondering how they'll be able to watch their club is ridiculous. I think that's nonsense personally. As for the Canadian that might "consider cheering for another club", I have absolutely nothing to say in his defence.
-
 We hardly have to lose the most, but it's unfair to suggest we have nothing invested.
-
Is this a f***ing joke? nope Well I'm sure you'll have plenty of time to arrange your f***ing viewing arrangement if and when the worst happens. I don't think it 's appropriate to be discussing them now on a "supporters" forum, do you?! This is an issue that is vital to mine and several other people's ability to support NUFC. I do not give a flying f*** whether you think this is an "appropriate" topic for discussion or not. We can do without your "support" thank you very much! Hey, you're an idiot. Premiership would be nowhere near what it is today without foreign support.

I'm sorry, but Keegan does not own a formation ffs. Especially when he's only used it like 6 times in his entire career. But yeah, as the man figured out last year, we have 3 real good strikers who are probaly all better than our midfielders. So 4-3-3 it is. Use our talent.
-
The thing with the 3-5-2 today, was that we only really have one player capable of being a wingback, and he was playing in centre midfield.
-
All the striking talent in their squad and they have 2 Centre Halves taking penalties What striking talent are you referring to? The only I can think of are injured. Well Tevez and Macheda were lined up on the half way line from what I saw Misunderstanding. I was talking about the Evertonians.
-
Who? Real Zaragoza. Enough with your foolish pedantry! Were Leeds televised alot when they first went down?

I think you'll find that many of our matches will be boradcast by the same illegal outfits next season. I often see these outfits strreaming the big clubs in the lower leagues like Birmingham, Wolves, Zarazoga, Lens, etc. We'll be on Setanta or ESPN 360 (You're in the US, no?) alot as well.

Bordeaux lead Lyon 1-0 at HT. If Lyon lose they'll be four points adrift. I'd prefer a draw though since that would put us a full three points ahead of any challengers.

Kind of odd to win a penalty shootout at Wembley, but not actually get any silverware.

Joke of a post tbh. Berbatov isn't a massive flop as he's played quite well at and he is certainly having a better time than Veron. On the other hand, it an embarrassment to compare Berbatov to Ibrahimovic who is his league's top scorer and carries his team on his back often. You're wrong on btoh fronts.

We led for 83 minutes against West Brom and for 10 minutes against Manchester United.

What big jobs has he had? Because being a number two at a midlevel Premiership team is not a big job to me. It was the same against stoke man, they go a goal behind....start actually pulling it together towards the end of the 2nd half when they realise they have to get urgent about it. The workrate changes and they keep the ball more. Thats all it is. It wasnt just viduka and martins coming on, it was the fact that we actually had the ball to give to them. Do that from the start and theyll prob turn to s*** again and start jogging around Viduka and Martins coming on had everything to do with our improvement. Infact, it was our improvement.
