Was talking to a couple of lads on Tuesday about what would be the agg score if we had to play Madrid or Barcelona with the current plight of our team. Barcelona would destroy us, but I think our team could give Real Madrid a few problems.

YES! Marseile advances! Beat The Flying Englishman's Twente 7-6 on penos after a 1-0 win thanks to Ben Arfa. Very good result considering a 1-0 loss at home in the Velodrome in the first leg. Marseille are like my second team so I had a bit invested emotionally here, and let me tell you something, if you think watching penalties is nervewracking, try following them by text. Hanging on every page refresh. I just thank the lord I've never had to follow PKs by text for NUFc or my country. Might not make it.

Ramos. pray to god he does'nt make i here. Oh please shut up. Ramos has lifted Madrid from the absolute doldrums and won 9 consectutive league matches. Real have been bottlers in the CL for a few years now, and even saying that, there's no reason the players they have can't go to "best atmosphere in the world" Anfield and score a goal.

Who are your favourite players who never quite made it...

Actually it seems this was a Newcastle-only thread In that case I'd say Emre. Boy had tons of talent. -

Would hardly consider players such as Martins and Domi as players who didn't make it. Martins has contributed in top leagues for his whole career while Domi is a talent who has done well for himself, while admitedly failing to make an impact at 1 or 2 clubs along the way. I would say three players come to mind for me: Julius Aghahowa: I know exactly why he has failed, but regardless he was a true warrior for Nigeria in the earliest part of this decade. He supposedly had a lot of "potential", but has regressed quite a bit since his move to Shakhtar. Haruna Babangida: Fun to watch, and incredibly tiny winger who just never really made it. Definitely not to the heights of his brother Tijani. Really has just disappeared. Gbenga Okunowo: Defender who came up through my local club (Ibadan Shooting Stars) and made his way to Barcelona. He was never really a special player, but his career spiralled downward. Injuries have destroyed his career. He's looked for jobs EVERYWHERE and failed. According to Wikipedia he is 29 and now playing in the Maldives. Just sad. -
It is incredibly difficult for things to be worse than they were towards the end of Roeder's time and for the first few months of Keegan's time.

I'm watching the Chelsea match and both teams are playing decent football.

Anyway I can see this online Yorkie? Do you get ESPN 360 in Europe? You can watch every full CL match on there. Actually no, obviously you can't, as ESPN does not own rights to the CL in your region. So I guess this has been of no help to you at all. But still, if your ever in the US, ESPN 360 is absolutely fanastic and absolutely free.

Are they for real That's just embarrasing.

Are you actually insane? How would that be more interesting? Surely a Barca vs Man United match would be what most football lovers would want to watch? Doubt it. Last year I listened and followed the massive massive hype fest leading up to this same fixture. The best match of the season and all that. Yet, unsurprisingly, it was nothing like that. One moment of class and nothing much else. What has happened that should change my opinion of this? Because each match is different. Goes without saying really. That and both teams are better this year. Last years fixture wasn't the best match of the season, but it was a f***ing good match. It really wasn't.Infact, I would say Liverpool-Chelsea was better. As blasphemous as that is, it's true, imo.

The best team in Serie A just played a scoreless draw with Inter. What is everyone so excited about Inter were not good tonight, but there has been no advantage gained for either team. Both will need to score on the next matchday. When AC whipped Man U (you know actually scoring in the process) it didn't make Serie A better than Premiership, so I don't think this scoreless draw changes anything proves England's superiority. I do hope Man U and Barca are eliminated in this round though. Would be more interesting in my opinion at least.

It's actually kind of sad how bad that Arsenal lineup is. I mean I'm thinking back to how amazing they were a short time ago. Lucky for them they've drawn Roma who are pretty awful bar a few players.
-
I'd actually rate Gutierrez higher in an attacking sense than I would Park.
-
He's not rubbish. He's just not a fantastic players. Lots of effort and decent ability, but nothing special.
-
1-0 Inter I think
-
Who gives a damn who signed him. Newcastle United signed him and he's worked out very well. I couldn't give a rat's arse which individual staff member brought him here.
-
Yeah ...some people overly criticise his game, but the bottom line is that he is poor. He is sluggish, lacks technique, isn't intelligent and often is a poor finisher. He a rubbish, useless, nonsense player.
-
Yeah she's worldclass apparently.
-
No thanks. He's 32. He's also terrible. Their only good players are Boateng (old) and Geovanni (who I'd like here). Not watching, but any reason Bent has reclaimed his starting spot? Seems odd.
-
did this in my lifetime. You're old.

Of course. Several clubs bigger than us who have gone less time without a trophy are more desperate as success is expected. Or how about the millions of clubs that have not and never will win anything. Also, for the record, I'm only 19, so I really do hope that I live to see alot of things, including Newcastle winning something. The last time a team I follow in football won anything was in 1996 (national team), so anything would be nice.

What? Newcastle are gaining a really bad reputation now. Between Barton, Guthrie, and Nolan, we're pretty much considered a team of butchers.
