Fulham vs Newcastle United 9/11/08 Pre-match thread
Segun Oluwaniyi replied to Taylor Swift's topic in Football
You cant really drop Oba after Monday. He's such a confidence based player, and has to play when he's in the groove. I reckon JFK would pick Owen if he's available and i also think he'd drop Martins before Shola. I think JFK likes to have a bigger guy up front causing trouble. Bit ridiculous if you score a brace against the 5th team in the table and then get dropped. -
They both dive alot. But Ronaldo gets fouled alot more. Players with quick turns of pace like Ronaldo, Jonas, or even Oba tend to get fouled more than any other players imo, and it is no surprise that these type players are usually the most prolific divers.

It's funny, if you are to visit any other forum or place where people talk football, they are saying how much of a scum Barton is . People are saying things like, "Look at him. He gets a second chance, and this is how he acts. He should be permanently banned from football." I mean I'm no Barton sympathiser, but this is sheer insanity. He hasn't done anything. I mean goodness, watch a Stoke match and you will see much more disturbing violence. It would be another thing if he was racist in his insults, but there has been no evidence that he was (not even in the African players' reactions like in the Terry or Emre incidents), so what the hell are we talking about here. The real shocking thing is to see ex-footballers, who know how emotional it can be out on the pitch, lampoon Barton for someting so innocuous

Don't start this again. I beg of you. Although Ferdinand is the exact opposite of the kind of player we were going for. Overpriced average and British.
-
You can say alot of bad things about Oba. But you cannot say he is average. Anything but.
-
Really improved today. Happy about it. He's had a rough time off it lately. So, I hope this is him getting back on track, because I don't want the potential of that lightning kid I saw at Inter go to waste. Here's to him scoring many many more for Newcastle United.
-
Thought he played well in the first half too, tbh. Class celebration for the first goal I liked the passion of his celebration. didn't quite like the fact he almost killed himself though

Garry Megson. He's been employing negative, one-dimensional, route one tactics all season so he should fit in quite nicely at your place. I was kind of under the impression that Bolton have always done that. Kind of their M.O. You've obviously only been following football since SKY got involved. I mean I'm 18. What the f*** else was I supposed to do. However...in my time Bolton in the Premiership have alwyas played boring miserable football. Though they did employ Okocha and Djorkaeff, so credit to them for that.

Newcastle should appoint him. There is now a decent English manager available. Contact him now and appoint him after Kinnear's month is over.

http://www.skysports.com/video/clips/0,23791,12606_4448180,00.html Just wondering if the interviews with Oba and Diouf were taken from Martins' party. They both seem a little pissed to me anyway.

Here..is the biggest thing for me. Everyone is saying we have to sit back and defend, but in our system that equals long ball. And that equals us losing. Laursen and co. will deal with that easily. The way for us to trouble them is to play on the deck and utilise the pace of Martins, Jonas and Duff.
-
Oh f*** off would you. The guy's played 13 minutes since Septmeber.
-
Well said young man. Well said.

roberto mancini is awful.... He won the league 3 times though give him some credit got damnit The first one doesn't really count. Actually it does... doesnt matter if it should or not. If Bolt and Powell run against eachother, and Bolt win over Powell, a week later Bolt gets caught using unlegal medicine, who will get the gold medal then? i rest my case More like if Bolt and Powell are both using illegal medicine and only Bolt gets caught. That would be a better comparison.

Its surprising to see the likes of Obi Mikel and Tevez on that list. Chelsea were supposed to have given him his extension ages ago, and for some reason it has not materialised. Tevez may not be happy with the singing of Berbatov, but surely United realise that the enthusiastic Argentine is worth more to them then the lazy chain smoking Bulgarian.

Mokoena is one of the worst footballers I have ever seen. Haven't you learned anything from Amdy. Being big does not make you talented. This is not Rugby or gridiron. Stoke might want to look at him as cover for Olofinjana or Amdy himself.
-
That is complete nonsense. I'll watch the Rugby WC for blind physicality. When I tune in to the premiership I expect to see football. I'm sorry but Stoke are a wretched blot on the beautiful game. Honestly, this lot make me miss Reading, Birmingham, Zaragoza, Parma, Metz, and Lens. I hope these fools go straight back down to the Coke league, and then go into administration and follow Gretna's path into oblivion. I mean at least Bolton brought the likes of Djorkaeff, Okocha, and Anelka to the Premier League. These cavemen have brought nothing except Rory "long throw" Delap. I mean f*** off. They contribute nothing to the league at all. Teams like Wigan, Hull, etc, make themselves hard to play agianst, but they still play the sport called "football".
-
Least deserved win of the season. Liverpool battered them for 70 minutes
-
Disagree about that. Especially Bolton.
-
Yep. Mikel/Lampard/Deco/Ballack/Cole vs. Barton/Guthrie/Butt. We won't even touch the ball. Unless Oba does something ridiculous, we aren't even going to come close to scoring, unless Chelsea are already up 5.
