  1. Tbh, in a way i wouldn't. It was Keegan's thing and he got it to make it work with his attacking mentality. Hughton's attempt at it against Hull was just hilarious, tbh. It's absolutely excruciating, man. When you consider Keegan got... Geremi --- Butt --- Barton Martins --- Owen --- Viduka ... playing brilliantly. Imagine what he could have done with... Jonas --- Guthrie --- Barton Martins --- Owen --- (Xisco?) Still don't get how anyone can say we played "brilliantly" with that formation. Pretty sure that was the only part of the season we had Oba, Owen, and Viduka available to start with. With that formation, we beat Fulham, Sunderland, Reading, and Tottenham. Three home wins against teams battling relegation, and one away win against a team with nothing to play for. The success Keegan had last season here is greatly exaggerated imo.
  2. No, and this hatred of th DOF structure is just stupid and misplaced. The DOF system was working fine at Spurs until they sold their best players, and it was working fine here imo until the manager quit. (The reasons for this seem to be more of a lack of relationship/communication than any "structure"). Parky, Levy is the equivalent of Ashley/Mort at Newcastle, while Comoli is the position of say Dennis Wise. Comoli is in charge of players going in and out and all that. Generally Spurs fans are angry with all parties at the way in which things have gone over the past two seasons, not because they are confused about who did what.
  3. Is Benjani injured? I keep forgetting he is employed by Manchester City.
  4. He was absolutely brilliant against Real Madrid. Best player on the pitch in that match.
  5. One word for you, Roeder. He's doing well, lets support him but don't do anything stupid. What? Roeder was the best manager we've had since Keegan I.
  6. Martins was a headless chicken cos he was playing outta positon! He gave it his all, thats all you can ask for! The problem is that he thinks he's Roy Race and never looks up. If there's three defenders ahead of him, he'll just run into them and ignore his team mates ?.....I thought he did pretty well. Don't know why you would pick on his performance in particular. He got fit ahead of schedule and put in a good shift. Unless you don't like him or something. However, I thought his position in the second half was a bit useless as he is noy very adept at defending are possessing the ball around the other team's box. Ameobi was encouraging tonight. Reminded me of Kanu, Berbs, or Viduka tonight. He seemed like he was playing in slow motio, but it was effective. Only difference being that those players are talented and all. I hope that Duff's performance tonight was not a one off. He was the best player on the pitch for the entire match if you ask me,
  7. As mentioned, he just played on Saturday. Nile will have plenty of time to get on the pitch
  8. City's line up is not that impressive tonight to me. The only thing that should scare us is the wings. Btw, I am liking the prospect of Martins running with Dunne and Ben Haim, unless it is really Richards is the center.
  9. What Hull City are doing is no big shakes. Look at what Hoffenheim are doing in Bundesliga. There are second and look legitimately good. They raped Hannover 96 5-2 at the weekend. They are also just promoted for the first time. Then again, tey have a sugar daddy that bought them a whole bunch of class players, but still.
  10. I think Chimbonda is class btw. He is not likeable, but he can play. I think him and Beye are both good players.
  11. Yep, and they'll finish with anice shiny UEFA cup spot
  12. Honestly that team would shatter Derby's record. Although, I do consider both Carrick and Leadbitter to be very good players. You also have to realise that players like Carrick would leave for bigger clubs. That makes Bilbao's accomplishment even more ridiculous.
  13. Inter Milan taught Roma a lesson today. However, it looks like Milan might be ready for a serious challenge this year. But still the league is very tight all around. Also Roma have collected 0 out of 9 points in away matches
  14. I am amazed that a team can survive in a top league with that strategy. Can youo imagine if Newcastle only used Geordie players?...whil everyone else had free pickings of great players around the world. It's not even like they get all the good Basque players. People like Mikel Arteta and Mendieta never played for them.
  15. Why? I can't see the Madrid game...was the penalty dodgy??
  16. I agree that Man U should hae splashed the money on a proper CM/DM to replace Scholes. Carrick/Hargreaves/Anderson are not that great.
  17. That was not the point of the discussion Diouf is involved in I don't think. He may be the leading Senegalese player of his generation (very very debatable), but unlike the players you named Diouf has not been a soldier and a warrior for his country. His attitude and actions have cost Senegal dearly. How can someone claim to be with Eto'o and Drogba when he cannot lead his (very talented) country past the preliminary round of WCQ. His club career is also a failure. Nothing but mediocrity Led them to their first ever World Cup with something like 8 goals in qualifying. I would say that has earnt him a lifetime of reprieve for any poor performances for Senegal since. Yeah Ok, that's great logic. I don't see why Senegal should have lower standards just because they don't have great history. You know Beckham should be allowed to f*** off from the National team and work to get talented players kicked off the squad because he scored that goal against Greece in 2002. The Senegalese fans would disagree with you. Notice the football in Togo and Angola isn't going completly mad right now. Both these teams made the 2006 World Cup, but people understand that was a miracle and that their countries do really lack the talent to compete. This is not the case with Senegal. They are flaunting players from all across Europe, but they couldn't even qualify to be one of the 20 teams that will attempt to qualify for the World Cup. Everyone involved in that shambles should be ashamed. Not only does he not show commitment in their colors, but he also had enough influence to ensure that Soulemayne Diawara and Mamadou Niang (Who is much better than Diouf) were not called up for the final and deciding encounter (according to his fellow teammates). What Diouf has done to Senegal is the equivalent of Keegan quiting and than working through the FA to get Oba and Owen suspended for the rest of the season. The guy is an absolute c***. End of story.
  18. There have been an absurd number of goal in Bundesliga today. Also, Hoffenheim (Whom I like since they employ Chinedu Ogbuke Obasi and arenewly promoted) are top. League is mad this year

  20. Yeah same one. I don't think he is all that terrible though. He has just had a bad time since leaving Sochaux and going to Charlton and Bordeaux
  21. Also from that thread: Just today?, oh dear and "thanks AGAIN milner another f***ing waste." "MILNER YOU'RE GASH!" "Milner's been feckin awful!" "AND AGAIN f***ing WOEFUL. Milner back on the bench after this?" "Shocking shocking performance from Milner." "fuk off milner we dont want you! absolutely s****!" Sweet Jesus. Regardless of what you may think of his talent or little of it, he was player who always tried his best & didnt cause any off the field problems for the club I think gloating about Villa fans mocking him is pretty low. One would think the gloating is about Villa paying 12 MP for him.
  22. YOu cannot even begin to contemplate starting a player because of a u-18 performance. They have to first perform at the reserve level at least (to be fair, Nile scored a fantastic goal in a reserve match). But u-18's is not a high level at all.
  23. To be fair, there is alot of emotion around Senegalese football at the moment. They've exited the World Cup at tan embarrasingly early stage due to a loss to their inferior rivals Gambia on their home ground. The fans were very unhappy and they threw missiles and rioted. The players had to stay back in the locker room for a good while, and the Senegal FA office was attacked with rocks and such. All the great promise of 2002 is now completely and utterly gone. A big part of the reason for this is the action of the "big men", especially Diouf. As Diawara rightfully said, these players treated NT duty as a vacation and a party, and now as a result, they will be watching the next World Cup and African Cup of Nations on their home television sets. There is alot of fingerpointing and disharmony among the players, the fans, and the officials. As you may well know, Diouf is not very humble, and has a lot pf pride. He is just trying to hide from his shame. But stil:
