  1. Eh? Lazio are a massive club It will either be exactly what he needs and shake him out, or he'll get into bother and end up as a drugs mule for the mafia.
  2. Liverpool have sold one key player but the premise is the same in that they only sold one player but it was their best player and heartbeat of the side, both excuses that Pardew used. It's a myth that we haven't signed players, numbers wise that's been proved in this very thread. Ultimately, if he had any shred of contempt about the transfer sitauation then he would have said it in public. He's a negative, bullshitting cunt who preaches prehistoric football that's generally just about good enough to stay in the division. If that can be called good or positive by some then so be it.
  3. I use Liverpool as an example because they are in exactly the same position we have been after losing Carroll, Ba, Cabaye. The only difference is for some reason Pardew's main tactic is to make one man the focal point of the entire team and then predictably it goes to shit when that player isn't there. That just shows a basic ability to recognise the obvious over who your best player is. But anyway, Rodgers has had to mess around with personnel and formations to try and find something that fits with his new players. That's what good managers do, they have good plan B's, C's, D's etc. What they don't do is elevate every clogger in the squad onto a pedestel and give them undroppable status.
  4. The only gripe and excuse Pardew can have is that we're constantly playing catchup from window to window because the club wants to operate on the cheap (e.g. Ba being signed the summer after Carroll and Cisse basically a year later). But that wears thin after a while and any decent manager should be able to change things to find a system that fits the players that are left (without 'going back to basics' and then proceeding to lose every game). Even the mildly detestable Brendan Rodgers has found something that seems to be working, however many weird formations it's taken to get there. Pardew is just a bang average manager who plays shit football and is constantly up his own arse depsite having no achievements whatsoever.
  5. This basically. He's got a cushy job available to him btw outside of football I guess also we must resist the simplistic idea that all 'convicted rapists' are exactly the same. They obviously aren't, I think you can say that without minimising rape as a crime in general. Obviously for legal/official purposes we currently don't have different degrees of rape, but in common sense there are rapists that are many times worse than Ched Evans. I like, and agree with, how you've put that bit, and even taking this into account (which I'm sure we all do) the guy was convicted of rape based on court evidence and witness testimony. Granted, from what we know about the paralytic state of the girl etc it's enormously different to an aggressive, pre-meditated act of rape but as Ian said, there are no different degrees of rape and there is still a victim. Yeah, my meaning was that I'm able to consider him a 'convicted rapist' and believe he should be treated legally as such, while also recognising that he seems to sit on the more benign end of the spectrum. I know it's hard to make this argument without seeming like I'm belittling what he's done or what the victim went through, I'm trying to find a way to express the idea that doesn't do that. Maybe it's a back to front argument, I think some people's reluctance to commit to the idea he's a 'convicted rapist' is because they associate that term with much more violent and aggressive offences. And I'm saying the term can mean many things. Confusing. Fully agree with this. If he'd been accused of something a degree below rape that didn't involve the word rape, I think he may have even pled guilty and certainly wouldn't be appealing it.
  6. Blase is probably not the right word but it comes across like you would agree with any jury in the world on any case, whatever the outcome.
  7. Bit sexist that isn't it? Assuming every single woman holds that opinion? You think it’s sexist of me to assume that women are anti-rape? Righto. As previous posters have pointed out, you do seem to have major comprehension problems. You probably shouldn't be bandying around terms like "thick as pigshit" about others. To clarify, I think it's sexist of you to assume that all women think the same way about this case. Specifically that they all a) agree that this is a clear cut case of rape b) think that after serving the time in prison dictated by the British justice system he hasn't been punished enough and should not be able to resume his career with someone who is willing to employ him It is also ignorant to think that only men without wives or sisters could possibly think that he should be left alone to get on with his life after serving his sentence. He didn't serve his time he's out on licence. Also he's a convicted rapist, you can't cast aspersions on the validity of his conviction without being in court and seeing all the evidence they saw. It's not as simple as "well it sounds like it's bit dodgy to me!!" are other people out on licence allowed to work during the remainder of their sentence or are they all prevented from doing so? Not sure. I'm merely stating the fact he hasn't "served his time". This all seems to be predicated on the fact it's not a "clear cut case" which doesn't sit very comfortably with me, considering none of us were in court and heard all the evidence. Seems to me if it was as shaky as people think he might have not been convicted? I think it's highly unlikely there is some secret piece of conclusive evidence that was only available in court but hasn't been mentioned by anyone since. Based on what we know, i'm not comfortable with the decision reached by the jury and think he has every right to an appeal. no one is saying that. Did you listen to all the testimony then? I think they probably made their decision based on all the evidence presented to them. Yes, but I don't think there's anything that they would have heard that we don't know. If there was, it would be all over that cringeworthy Support Ched website and in the media. If your point is simply how witnesses came across in court etc then fair enough, but should that be enough to convict someone?

  9. I'd be willing to wager a fair sum that 'Bruce Issues Apology Over Evans Comments' will be a headline on BBC Sport before the end of the day.
  10. Wasn't he in a taxi on his way home, then got the text and re-directed the driver etc. If he was sober then there's an aboslute morality question (besides the crime). If he was impaired by drink himself then I think tit's a different argument.
  11. My understanding it was basically seen as being irrelevant whether she consented or not, Evans was convicted becasue he should have realised she was 'obviously' too drunk to consent. Does anyone know if Evans was in any way drunk himself?
  12. I just find it strange how this case specifically has garnered so much public attention. Especially when utterly terrible human beings such as Marlon King and Nile Ranger have been able to secure multiple contracts without so much as a muttering from the back pages from The Mirror. I'd be willing to bet that a lot of people harping on about Evans haven't even heard of these 2. It just strikes me as a bit of a witchunt.
  13. The fuck? So murder is now seen as morally more acceptable than rape. In the common consciousness I think that actually is the case tbh. Definitely. I think it all depends on context, personally. This case is really not comparable to (or worse than) murder. I wasn't in court so I don't know. We didn't get all the evidence obvs. I'm talking generally. In general terms I might agree with you. But this is off topic anyway.

  15. The fuck? So murder is now seen as morally more acceptable than rape. Some people really are thick as shit.
  16. I don't even see this as a joke. It's exactly what he should do. He had a great opportunity, he f***ed it up. Be thankful to be out of prison and put in a shift at a normal, profileless job. He, along with all people released from prison, might as well just go and jump off a bridge based on your logic. Why doesn't he just settle for a life on the dole taking taxpayer's money if he's only allowed to apply for perceived shit jobs. He has a right to seek employment in any area he chooses. If clubs won't employ him then he will have to look somewhere else, fair enough. This is the point. He's not in a position to be fussy and there is no entitlement. Football has no obligation to take him back and he should be more than happy to work at a 'shit' job. He needs to accept he screwed up his career and it's over. I agree with you that football has no obligation to take him back. But if a club chooses to offer him a deal, they should not be met with online petitions, sponsor boycotts and politicians deriding them for doing so.

  18. What was the publication, "Rapist's Weekly"?? Lols. Just to prove I'm not an avid reader of Rapist's Weekly.. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/11226209/Ched-Evans-Sorry-but-all-rapes-are-not-the-same.html
  19. Shaqiri to Stoke? Surely he's the kind of player we should be in for.
  20. Read an article which had the closing line 'If all who'd done what Evans did were sent to jail then most football teams wouldn't be able to put out a full team each week, and a lot of nightclubs would be half empty each weekend. '
  21. The only difference between Sherwood and Pardew is the Sherwood plays a more attacking style, but theres many many managers I'd rather have than him.
  22. Me. Still don't get how he's pulling it off. Fair play to him though, he's definitely a trier if nowt else. He's legitimately good at everything, but has no outstanding attribute.
  23. Who was it on here saying Harry Kane was shit
