The way I see it, he had the advantage with the shot and Bellerin made a good clearance. You can argue it was mental keeping, yes, but once he's got the effort on goal you can't bring it back for a pen.

Thought Michael Oliver put on one of the best refereeing displays I've seen today, agreed with every decision he made. On a similar note, what an absolute masterclass in defending from John Terry today.

Good manager, nice bloke, plays good football. Proven record of improving young players, deserves another chance in the premier league based on his club achievements.

This is one of the absolute worst Pard-isms that this clown has clearly picked up. No Alan/John, things don't just happen there is a reason and somebody to blame.

Ah. Well, it's 14 days late but I've been had.

I genuinely thought the thread title was an April fools. For fucks sake.

Rock on Ruby hampered to fuck too.

I think he saw Rangers as a buy low prospect where it would relatively cheap and easy to build them back into the Champions League and then take the merchandise cut off the top, with the exposure for Sports Direct. Looking at it, he's almost got that already without even needing to invest properly. It's shrewd business at it's finest, but I can't wait until Ashley accidentally forgets a tax bill or something and gets royally bummed for it.

Because they're playing in a style that suits them, i.e. keep it tight, long ball, nick a 1-0/2-1. Derby play decent stuff and the likes of Forsyth, Hughes, Hendrick, Martin etc have improved as all round footballers under McClaren.
-
That always bugs me, how a club manager can play a lad 50 games in a season, hard training every day etc etc. And then blame 'burnout' on the national team who play 8 games a year and do the odd team jog together before game. Piss off.
-
Sounds familiar. Not the excuses of McClaren himself in fairness, he does a relatively good job of not acting like Football's Charlie Sheen in his interviews. One good attribute for McClaren is that players have legitimately improved while playing for him, and he's a good coach.
-
I'm based in Derby so chat to a fair few of their fans and all these supposed problems have come since Martin was injured. He basically linked the whole team and is an excellent allround striker at that level. I think McLaren would benefit from coaching better players than the likes of Jamie Ward but as has been said, would be something of a meh appointment.

You need to see these things to confirm them though, I'd have said the same about Sterling as a #10 when he first came onto the scene for Liverpool. I just hope we never see them again. Jones as a 'destroyer' could work, but only against a team that's going to dominate the ball, and not force him to cover out of position. Italy never did that and we ultimately needed a tempo setter like Carrick.
-
I can forgive Roy playing Jones in midfield and Theo up front/#10 as that's what friendlies are for after all. However if he ever does either of those things again then god help him. Carrick made everything work and should really be the first name in that midfield, whereas you don't really need both Delph and Hendo against a team like Italy who are always so defensive. Saying that, we have decent options when you think Wilshere, Milner, Ox, Lallana are all out injured.

Neymar is the biggest fairy going.
-
He's so much better than Peter Crouch ffs.
-
Not now or as good, but the same kind of player.

Seen Kane be compared to Thomas Muller by a few tonight, it isn't that far off to me. His movement and mental play in general is fantastic.

And how well did that turn out for England? We get Frank and Stevie wanting to make the same runs and not quite fitting into the same team. That's been England problem over the years, much more than anything else. The best players did not fit together, at all, they were just good enough on their own to win qualifying games. Lampard - Needed a 4-3-3 at his peak to give him the freedom he had for Chelsea Gerrard - Benitez had it right, his best Role was behind a single striker (Torres) in a 4-2-3-1, but he couldn't player there for England because.. Rooney - Needed to play as a 10 in a front 2 or he became isolated, and came too deep. Beckham and Owen - Both pure 4-4-2 players, Beckham needed his right back for the overlap, Owen needed his Heskey to do the physical stuff. With the wonderful value of hindsight, what we needed was a horses for courses approach and selecting the lineup/team of players that bring the best out in each other, for the benefit of the team. Players like Michael Carrick.
-
For years I thought Carrick was shite. I was wrong and England have been equally as wrong over the years. He could play on for years, especially at the base of the diamond. And especially now Gerrard has fucked off. Henderson has developed into a cracking player, but is totally different to Carrick. More like a Sami Khedira type of player.

This is wrong. And you're the clueless one. Objectively, he's doing a good job at Palace. That is undeniable. Any less belies a lack of common sense or intelligence. Before he joined they where bottom 3 or 4, few points from the drop. That would've cost them 20m+ if they got relegated. He's kept them up, it's been money well spent. Keep them up next year, would also be a big achievement for the club. Even if they struggle the next season he would've been a good appointment for them. And clearly he's a better manager than John Carver man. Bull shit, this is a team that finished 11th last season and have lost no key players. If they finish between 11-14th they'll have done 'average', any less and it will be a poor season.
-
Came here as a striker, now being selected at holding midfield. Top Management. Fucking shit player though, one of the worst we've had in my time supporting.
-
He'll continue to tread water until something changes, or forces him to change his team/tactics, then we'll see the truth emerge. Although Palace are such a pathetic chasm of nothingness, they probably embrace the smarmy cunt and his ways.

Hope someone cuts his breaks overnight.
