Our set up was awful today and the changes were unimaginative/ more of the same (albeit both Murphy and Barnes should have started). Nick was isolated up top, I’d have brought Wissa on much earlier, moved Nick to a 10 and asked him to be the link to the wide men and Wissa. We needed to pull their defence a bit further up the field and get in behind them from wide areas or through the middle by using a 10 to mess their shape. It’s very easy to criticise after the event but it was painfully obvious that what we were doing wasn’t going to be the answer.

Baffling that we’ve scouted the shit out of him, got knocked back and then went back in again. His performances for us remind me of his time at Man U, not great. His ball control is terrible, his passing is terrible, he doesn’t have the skill to go past a player (he usually kicks the ball ahead and hopes it gets beyond the fullback), his composure is terrible. He doesn’t appear to have any kind of football brain. His teammates don’t look like they trust him in possession, they look to me that they’re expecting him to either lose the ball, find an opponent with a pass or just run the ball out. He really wasn’t that great at Forest, he spent a chunk of time on the bench. It is what it is but our scouting has to be seriously questioned on this one. I just can’t see anything about him to suggest he’ll come good. Obviously, I hope I’m made to eat these words.

Away from home he’s been isolated and doesn’t have the game (yet) to join the play up. He’ll be feeling terrible after today. I have much bigger concerns over Elanga and Gordon, Shearer would have decked the pair of them. Elanga just isn’t very good and Gordon by and large is all fart and no shit.

Got what we deserved. We showed little ambition and they must have absolutely loved the way we approached the game. Elanga should be nowhere near a starting position and Barnes should have started ahead of Gordon. Mind you, given how passive we were it may not have made a difference. Very very poor.

Really sad news, he was a cracking player and a right pain against us. I was there when he got that hat trick. Hope our fans do the right thing and show respect, 68 is no age and the guy was a legend for them. RIP.

This might sound a bit off, Gordon did ok again, however, Barnes on the left and Murphy on the right imo would have worked better last night. Gordon has scored a couple of penalties and generally ran around in circles cutting back on himself. He’s hit the bar and the post twice and that’s the thing, I genuinely think Barnes would have scored with at least one of those. It’s impossible to prove but if you look at shot conversion and when you watch how they both execute chances there’s proof right there. If we’re going to start them both I’d put Gordon on the right every time, we’re taking away a legitimate goal threat with Barnes on the right.

He’s not in great form, his care of the ball hasn’t been the best lately and he was very poor for the 1st goal last night. I feel a tuned in Tonali would have done better for the 2nd as well; mind you, as a team, we look like we’re expecting to concede a late goal.

Smallest 6ft 2” keeper I’ve seen. He doesn’t impose himself at all, corners are a right lottery with him stuck on his line.

Aye, my lad is in the home end. Plenty Bayer fans willing to sell them on. Won’t be wearing colours though.

Nailed on Penalty, nee idea what he was thinking of, can’t even say natural instinct. He had plenty of time.

or Smith.

Lots of running and turning and a couple of decent shots. Flatters to deceive, we were up against 10 men for a long time yesterday, I’d have expected our wide men to have created boat loads of space and end product.
-
Weak as a kitten on crosses he came for and then decided he’d just stay on his line as the match wore on.
-
Probs a few mills of bleach or Tango looking at his face.

Turned this on expecting a football draw. What the actual fuck.
-
Dear me, fully deserved tbh. Liverpool have been woeful.
-
We threw that away, on another day we score 4. As it was we were very sloppy, 2 very avoidable goals to concede.
-
Something isn’t right, he couldn’t run in his last game.

Take it this is a Giggs; funny mind. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/19xTKafJXd/?mibextid=wwXIfr

I’ll just echo what’s been said, 2 quality full backs transforms our options and threat. Call outs to Thiaw, Miley and Nick tonight; have to say, Everton were awful.
-
He was fucking rubbish.

Neuer possibly outdid Pope with that.

What do we do at HT? I’ve now lost count of the amount of games we start the 2nd half like we’ve had a 15 minute nap. It has to change, it is hugely damaging.

You’d have hoped the ref could have had a word and shown them both yellows but, VAR were never overturning it.

Hope Pep is watching that 😂
