Emery must have amnesia with the 1st game of the season/ how they overran us at Villa Park last season (when Bruno had a mare and their energy overwhelmed us). We weren’t anywhere near our best yesterday but we could have scored 6 or 7 because of their high line and failure to press us in our own half between the 18 yard line and centre circle. We had all day to play the ball across the middle and pick the right run to hit. Emery has been lauded but that was shocking last night. Luton will be much tougher on Saturday. Villa fans can rightly be annoyed about that performance and it sounds like it’s been coming for them.

Kind of reminds me when he went down under no pressure in the box at The Gallowgate End earlier this season. We didn’t see him again for quite a while iirc.

There’s broad agreement that we need to sell at least 1 player. Looking at the options and who we can off load for a fee, Miggy is right up there. He’s a terrific worker, fabulous attitude, but, his end product isn’t good enough and he’s chronically one footed. Wish him well, it would absolutely be the right decision to let him go. Even if we don’t get anyone in, it would still be the right decision looking forward.

Can’t see how you sign Isak and follow that up with Solanke tbh. He’s never looked a natural finisher to me. We need to be making signings that will be 1st team regulars. If we have any realistic ambitions of breaking into the Top 6 on a long term basis this wouldn’t be the way I’d go about it. I’d rather keep our powder dry until we can get the quality player. Very difficult but with FFP we have to get every signing right.
