That was absolutely desperately poor.

My brother was at the ‘74 Cup Final and said their fans were great. Since then they’ve steadily become unbearable and have huge numbers of band wagon fans who generally are there for the “glory” and by definition are wankers. I was at Anfield for the KK 3rd round FA Cup game when their fans were starting fights all over and bricking the buses. At KK’s Testimonial match where a car load tried to pull us over looking for a fight. Met some great Scousers and I guess they say the same about us but I despise their general fanbase. Heysel was a disgrace, they routinely charged turnstiles around that time, I was in the Liverpool end when they played Arsenal in the LC Final and had first hand experience of their mindset (Charlie Nicholas Final). What happened at Sheffield isn’t a shield behind which they can deflect and protect portions of their support and is a disservice to the families affected. By god I hope we show up in the final.

Get that “Get into them” banner ready for Wembley and Blaydon Races to drown out that nauseating YNWA. Please do not sing In your Liverpool slums/ Sign On. Losing to the Manc fans was bad enough, losing to the Scousers will be absolutely unbearable.

Where does 7 mins come from? Be double that at FT if Liverpool aren’t 2 clear.

We can’t sit back and invite Arsenal on. Start sensibly, feed off the crowd, high energy, no silly fouls. First goal may we’ll decide the tie.

Great 1st touch

Great finish, not so great keeping.

Sky reporting fee will be 20M. If that’s correct it’s a cracking deal.

RIP Alan. Him and Withe were a shining light in what was a pretty awful team.
-
Absolutely honking behaviour. Totally unacceptable.

We were absolutely awful in the 2nd half, from kick off to final whistle. Joelinton and Bruno struggle against quick and mobile midfielders. We don’t have the option/ squad depth to adapt to this. Willock has mobility but isn’t dynamic, I’d love to have MGW, we’d have won today with him and Tonali as the pivot. We’re very restricted in how we play.
-
We need Morgan Gibbs-White. Last 2 home games we are so much better in midfield with him as an option.
-
Offside for me. Clearly worked on that to block the defender. Pre planned.

Lamptey to Ajax for 1.5M?

Why would Arsenal offer over 60M for Watkins when they could get Isak for similar money?

There’s plenty of games where I’ve believed we could have played all night and not scored (West Ham at home, Brighton’s smash and grab). I’m not expecting xg to have a feel for how a game is going but it really should be weighted for who is involved in shooting and I’d also include a tariff for who the keeper is. In the PSG game, they didn’t look like scoring, we invited them into some shooting situations where they’d have been better off building a better position. This got worse as the game went along (where their xg also increased). It’s a data tool but I’m happy to trust my own eyes on how a game has played out. I’d also add that it’s also subjective to what is a chance/ big chance. OPTA had to change its shots on target in the Sheff U v Hull as some berk couldn’t tell that Brereton Diaz had given the keeper the eyes and shot near post as opposed to it being a miss hit cross. I only know this as Skybet paid out for me 2 days later after initially recording it as a lost bet from the original OPTA data.

Guess not, do we agree? From memory PSG had a ridiculous expected goal xg against us in Paris but didn’t reflect that we were a goal up (and missed a bit of a sitter as well) and had largely restricted PSG to wild attempts from over 20 yards out. When they did score it was a travesty of a decision. By xg we’d have lost by almost double figures.

Until it’s weighted to take into account that say Big Jo is 50/ 50 to miss from 2 yards with no keeper and Harvey Barnes is 50/50 from 18 yards with 3 players in the way, it’s utterly meaningless to me.

Let’s see when Oliver referees Arsenal again.

Social Media and Ref Watch.

Michael Oliver should be fuming. A trip would have been a flick of the left leg to trip on the right leg. What happened was an extended lunge to kick the right leg. It’s a completely different challenge. I had an ankle broken in a not dissimilar challenge.

Looking at Bournemouth’s fixtures they should be aiming top 4 or 5. If they can keep their momentum they can get mighty close.

That’ll have hurt and wouldn’t be surprised if Paqueta knew what he was doing
