@47:45 ish Hemery is a hurdler you say? Haha, so was Alan Pascoe, this was him in '74.
-
I take it that it's ok to post that link?

This is him on Superstars (at around 3.18 ish), it's not the record run he did in 10.9 secs. For some reason he's got a 4 yard start on David Hemery but he wins easy enough (with a tight hammy), Hemery it should be mentioned won Olympic Gold in world record time for the 400 hurdles in 1968 and won the 110 hurdles at the Commonwealths in 1970. He also got a Silver and Gold - edit to Bronze - in the 72 Olympics in the 400 hurdles. Supermac was something else in full flight.

He suffers from terrible arthritis. He was very bow legged at his peak, his joints must be shot to pieces now. No idea if he has other ailments - it wouldn't come as a surprise. He was my first hero, he was a devasting player, he could ruin any defence. The Fulham side he managed were also very good and battered us up here. He does get a bad press at times, he is opinionated but it's all part of his make up, he wouldn't have been the player he was without the absolute self belief in his own capabilities. He's talked shite at times all his life, he should have learned from what he said he'd do to Lpool in '74.

FFS, we'll get 30M no matter what. Do some Spurs fans think that Everton will offer 30M on instalments and then Levy comes along and dupes Mike with a bit of business leaving Mike out of pocket and Levy with a right earner. By paying this way Spurs have bought themselves a problem when in 2 or 3 years they want to off load him and still owe us 12M and he's then only worth a bag of crisps. They've bought him at the height of his value, his next port of call will be a mid to low PL side or he'll go abroad.

He must be gutted. Haha, enjoy Merseyside.

Don't want him. It was a shocking tackle and he had previous. It was made worse by that shit house Whelan saying it was a clean tackle (unlike his own career changing tackle which he bleats on about constantly) and the FA being unable to do anything about it. Players make bad tackles but he's no world beater and I'd struggle to cheer him. If I were Haidara I'd shit in his pants, piss in his lucozade and mix razor blades in with his food. I'd then kick the fucker 20 foot in the air in the first training match against him.

If Joe Hart ends up on loan there he may as well accept his career as a top keeper is over and he's been found out. He's an accident waiting to happen mixed moments of excellence. His ego is such that they'll have to knock him out, put the strip on him, carry him out and bring him round just as they kick off.

Best game today

Bloody hell, I'd kill for that calibre of player this window. Bracewell and Venison were both title winners and were only 30 and 28 respectively. Beresford looked a great prospect and Lee who we signed after the season started became an established England player. Those signings were pretty much inspired at the time.

Sunderland Superstore Kiosk doing roaring trade here at the airport. They have Gloin running the store today to make the kiosk look bigger in some type of optical illusion. Not seen a single Nufc top and only one unfortunate kid decked out in his Safc kit. Ooooo, 1-1 now, just seen a lass with a Nufc top on. Anyway, back to pre flight beer. I kid you not about Gloin.

Seems Rafa is backing Sels and we are looking to save a bit of money on wages and giving him an extension so we can demand a fee when he leaves. Sad to see him go, he's far better than what we're left with.
-
Could also point out that only 6 shots on target in 4 games isn't great, 1 was a missed penalty and 2 of his goals were more or less open goals from around 4 yards out. He's had little real service, his free kick was great, his missed header against Huddersfield was poor. He took his goal yday really well. He clearly needs better support hopefully we'll see Mitro up top with him. He's done ok, I've been a little disappointed in his movement at times. He hasn't worked the channels very well. Having said all that I'm far more worried about what's going on with Perez. He needs to toughen up or he can write this season off. I thought he'd tear this league up.

Can't see boro holding on here.

Every time I've seen him he's been woeful. Unless you're there today, he hasn't. Wow, you must know nowt about football if you think he's been ok. He's been allowing poorly hit shots to bounce off him and has been flapping at crosses he should be collecting. Funnily enough the only game I've not been at or seen on the tv has been today.

We've bought a right duffer with Sels or perhaps make his jersey with velcro. We sound functional at best.

No We didn't look like conceding before the changes either. The changes allowed Reading further up the pitch and more possession. We gave the ball away too easily and Dummett headed behind for a corner under no pressure at all. We need better footballers if we are to go that defensive. I'd have taken Shelvey off, his work rate was better but after he hit that pass that led to the free kick for the 1st goal he again wasted the ball and possession by trying far too many 40 yard passes from the middle of his own half. I really do hope that we can replace him for a CM who can go past a man and carry the ball. I can see he's been praised by some but I don't see it. He's in a vital position and he's not what we need there.

Bloody hell, being reported in various places. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/fans-pay-tribute-aston-villa-11749941

We've lost to 2 of the top 3 so far..........mind you if we'd beaten them we'd have been playing against relegation candidates.......
-
I thought he didn't effect the game at all, didn't pull off any Hollywood pass, didn't create anything in the final third of the field, didn't work hard enough and really didn't look too bothered at all. It's not a question of being the worst player on the pitch, he wasn't, but he's not put in the performances we should be seeing. I'd happily see him sold, he clearly has a very high opinion of his limited abilities.

Rafa has got problems all over the park from what I've seen so far. Where is the leadership we had at the end of the season from Lascelles? We carried no goal threat, no speed of attack and no creativity. At the back we allowed the opposition too much space. There's no need for panic but people are refusing to see what their eyes are showing them. It's only two games but I can fairly confidently say that Sels is bang average, Dummett isn't good enough, Lascelles has struggled, Anita, Colback and Hayden aren't going to anywhere near good enough, Shelvey can't just operate in front of the back four and look for Hollywood balls, Aaron's isn't ready, Perez is off the pace and Gayle will not work up top by himself. It can be put right, Rafa knows how teams will set up against us but by Christ we do not look like a team who has the desire or ability to break down organised, determined opposition. Put Nolan and Carroll in that side (as they were) and we'd have won yesterday.
-
We need someone in central midfield who can actually go past a man and force the opposition out of shape, we then need an imposing centre forward worthy of the number 9. I've not been at all impressed by Gayle but central midfield is my main concern at the moment. I'd honestly expect a league 2 team to be able to set themselves up to stop us at the moment. We've no-one from midfield who can beat a man or break beyond the opposition midfield.
