  1. He hasn't got the pace to be really effective out wide, he's best just off the front man and that causes selection problems. If we do put him out wide we'll ruin him.
  2. The fact that people are questioning whether Perez should start next week simply shows that whilst we have spent money we haven't addressed the real problem areas. Perez is a star in the making if he's handled correctly. I'm not sure McClaren will start him yet we'll put out a defense that has glaring holes in it and will possibly play 2 midfielders in Colback and Anita in sitting positions both of who aren't good enough and at the expense of far better players who McClaren can't fit into the team be because of the weaknesses in other areas. I've tried picking a team for next week and can't see how Perez can play if Mitrovic plays unless De Jong doesn't start. You could put Perez out wider but that's not his position. When they sat down and identified where they needed strengthening and who to target they must have been on the lash. Where's the left back and other centre half we need? Get that sorted and some of the precaution McClaren's selections currently need will go away.
  3. I agree, but Perez should start. We'd also have Mitrovic and Cabella as non starters which given the state of our defence is ludicrous. Our attack v defence training sessions must be fun.
  4. I might lump on Soton next week, they're virtually through in the Europa League haven't got far to travel and are weeks ahead in terms of preparation.
  5. Christ He's had enough chances to have scored 3 or 4 by now, laugh it off but from what I've seen he's best attacking crosses and we're not set up for that. I'd start Cisse on Sunday. We've scored a pitiful amount of pre season goals against mostly poor opposition playing at about 80%. He's had an hour of playing time in pre season where he's spent most of it joining us and getting a visa. What he does at the moment really means f*** all to me, also he's got into more goalscoring positions than Cisse has in that 60 mins. The goals will come, what's the point in sticking with someone who hardly gets any chances because physically he's too easy to play against. He's shown enough he can be very effective, so what if the goals haven't come in pre season? give the lad more than an hour before you decide nah i want Austin I want them both, I happen to think that too much will be expected of Mitrovic if he starts next week. The left back position is most pressing for me and going into the season without any semblance of a settled back four is asking for trouble.
  6. You're talking about our squad being bang average then advocating us signing Charlie Austin... He's shown he can score goals for bang average sides. We look 3 or 4 weeks away from where we should be pre season, Soton could rip us to pieces next week.

  8. Our squad is lop sided at the moment, we have too many bang average midfielders and we have to off load some. We desperately need a LB and another centre half. I also think we need to sign Austin, Mitrovic could be anything but he hasn't exactly hit the ground running. We need goals. I can see McClaren going safety first next week with Colback a certain starter and I'd personally have Sissoko alongside him. I've no idea how you play De Jong, Perez and Mitrovic in the same side, we more or less need 2 set ups depending on whether Mitrovic or Perez plays. It all looks a bit of a mess to me.
  9. That is a brilliant video. Didn't realise it was by someone from Yorkshire mags til the bit at the end. See a couple of them on the train on the way to games every now and then. Didn't know Mal ever had hair though, assumed he'd always been bald!!! Aye mate, if you look they have quite a few videos of of our european adventures, Bilbao, Marseille, Metz, Barcelona, etc I was standing a few rows in front of where they took that video. HT was fantastic, we'd just scored and it was mental. They kept showing lads with no tops on and the You Fat Bastard chants were deafening. Happy Days.
  10. I've just found the full match on Daily Motion, bloody hell Solano didn't half crack that volley against the bar!
  11. I've been looking for the Inter Milan 2-2 game for bloody ages as I forgot to record it, there's hardly any footage of that game knocking around.
  12. Mine came today, will use the free TasteCard that came with it (nearly paid over £30 for one last week when it was on HotUKDeals).
  13. Keeper should have stopped their 2nd, didn't get a strong enough hand on it. First goal was a joke.

    Chancel Mbemba

It's ok it just has all his birth certificates and carbon dating results in it.

  16. Saw it descending from my back garden. Waved and had the welcoming bed sheet out; couldn't tell if he waved back.

    Chancel Mbemba

See he's anywhere between the ages of 19 and 27. Brilliant, give the man a contract between 7 and 3 years depending on how quickly his nose and ear hair grow. Mbemba was registered by his two first Congolese clubs as being born in 1988, according to documents obtained by CNN. Yet for a Cup of Nations qualifier in June 2011, his year of birth was listed as November 30, 1991. Meanwhile, the birth date recorded by his Belgian club Anderlecht is August 8, 1994. Just to complicate matters, Mbemba himself, thinks he was born in 1990.
  18. I really can't see him coming here. If he wanted to sign he's had amply opportunity to have done so. next.
  19. He looked awful last pre season. I had the misfortune of watching the games and it was more than clear then that he couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo. You are mental though
  20. His failure to track back led to 2 goals at home to Hull where we should have been 3 or 4 up inside 20 minutes. His tracking back was an issue and teammates do not like others not pulling their weight (as they see it) no matter how good they are. In his last season where he was picked (usually as sub) he was thrown on when we were chasing games or started against sides where his weaknesses would be shown, Southampton away being a good example. Ultimately he wasn't professional enough.
  21. He's not keen is he. If he does sign there'll no doubt be a release clause if a CL club comes calling. And if Ashley wasn't such a prick it's times like this we could involve Shearer. Or we could send Moncur......didn't we beat Anderlecht in The Fairs Cup....
  22. Wonder what the contract length is. He's clearly gone for the money and to be in London at the wife's instructions. It's not a footballing decision and it'll be interesting to see how he does, maybe not this season but next. We were never going to sign a 29 year old for big money with big money wages on top. He must be gutted with the way things have worked out career wise.
  23. There's quite a few Palace fans questioning whether they need him......

    Charlie Austin

let's be honest Austin would be mad to come here over West Ham under the regime we have. In fact any half decent player would be mad to choose us over any other PL club, other than possibly Sunderland and only because if they do come to the NE they may as well come to us over them. Sorry state of affairs.
