Going back to their goal, Janmaat can see all along the line and is the only player playing Gomis onside. That's absolutely dreadful defending.
-
What was Janmaat thinking?
-
If we're going to offload Obertan the best way is to play him during the transfer window, when his fitness is good and he may fluke a few good things. We may get a buyer. If that's McClaren's idea I'm all for it. I'm sure Sir Bob put a few players in the shop window by making others think they were in his first team plans.

Enrique is a completely different fullback to Beresford. Beresford could play football, Enrique relies on his speed and strength. In our current set up we're more in need of an Enrique than a Beresford. As a footballer there's no contest between the two. Imo a Bernard type fullback is what we really need.

It was a good cross in and Pelle was always going to win that header. I was more worried about Janmatt for their second, he checked to see where Long was and hardly jumped in any attempt to win the header, I don't think he expected Long to be challenging.
-
He went berserk with Mitrovic for that challenge and rightly was trying to get us deeper and closer as a unit in the last 15 minutes. We were out on our feet and there were gaping holes all over the pitch. To be fair the fans weren't baying for a winner as they could see what was happening but they gave the expected vocal support when we did go forward.
-
Him or Wiljaldum? No contest on today's performance. Cabaye playing in the Anita position interchanging with Wignaldum at times and we'd have a solid unit in the middle.

I'd agree with that. Think Vurn is pivotal to the way we played today though, dropping between the CB's to start the play. A role where if you lose the ball it's very, very noticeable as you're exposed. Can you imagine Tiote in that role? Would be absolute suicide. Thing is we'll get nowhere playing both Colback and Anita. They both did ok but they take up 2 places in a side where 1 player should do. Wignaldum looks a star and De Jong looks a bit surplus to requirements. We need a left back and Obertan can't continue. First half we were dreadful down the left but late on their fitness and was helpful
-
The game changed because we ran out of legs. Anita did ok but made some very sloppy passes which could have been punished. After 75 mins we were dead on our feet and De Jong longs weeks away from fitness
-
Boys a good player, he wont come across many Pelle's this season.
-
Sounds like he had a belter today. Well done.

Their match thread is great, goes from should be 2 up after 5 minutes and Leicester are shite to we're down and cricket score on the cards after 20 minutes.

Clas that I'm a bit of a geek on this stuff I think http://i.imgur.com/oVPz972.png f***ing Glanford Park ruined it for me. No idea Ha, L4 and first one landed in the middle of the North Sea 307 miles away as I thought I was rapping the screen to stop my IPad going to sleep. 31 miles from Ipswich was my worst by far up to then, most well within 15 miles. You can pretty much get them from the road network (which is why I was 31 miles from Ipswich).

He doesn't have the speed to be a top level full back. He's looked so ok at centre back but his lack of pace leaves him exposed at full back. Most wingers will fancy their chances against him.
-
Liverpool Echo reckons he isn't injured and has been told he has no future at the club. I can't imagine he'd cost more than a million.
-
Until about two games in when you realise he's crap now. Is he though? We all know his faults but unless he's let himself go (is there actual proof of that) he's surely better than what we've got and Lpool clearly want rid. Career wise he was completely right to leave us.
-
Aye, it was good laugh. Does anyone know if he's looked after himself?
-
He's 29 now and well down the pecking order at Liverpool, been more or less ostracised. I'd happily take him back for a small fee and hopefully he feels he's got a point to prove. Offer him a 2 year deal, it's a shot to nothing and better than we've got.

I'd have no problem thinking that way if Williamson, Gouffran and Obertan had been first out the door. As it is, they're looking increasingly likely to stay, and it's mind-boggling how they get to keep their PL status, and someone of Abeid's potential ends up in a lower league in Germany. Problem is that you need to find a willing buyer. Who would have any use for Gouffran, Obertan or Williamson? I wouldn't have them on my weekly five a side team, they'd add nothing. So why would a professional team spend money on them and (more pertinently since we'd probably let them go for nowt) why would anyone pay them the hefty wage they're on here? we can only move on players where there's a willing buyer and may even have to continue paying towards wages when they move on. Hopefully McClaren is trying to be canny and has been giving some players game time in an effort to drum up interest.
-
It's a shame but we have to let some go and he did put in some pretty average performances after initially looking useful. I'd like to think we can free up some more space from the glut of midfielders we have and replace with better and more pressing positions. If Abeid has to go to help facilitate this then I'm all for it.
-
Will they do red numbers on the back? Pity they don't have stripes on the back where a white patch with a nice red number 9 could sewn on. Classic.
-
I'll not be buying that then.
-
As much as he was liability last season if we can get him to again realise he's not a footballer and get him to sit in front of the back 4 and play like he did in his first season it would mean we wouldn't have to consider playing 2 out of Colback, Anita or Abeid and that would make selection so much more flexible.
