I really don't understand what people expect Colback to be. We knew what he'd bring and he's done just that. We're a team with no ambition and he does a job. He cost nowt and is a decent squad player. It's not his fault we haven't got better.
-
I thought it was more because he actually has looked good if not outstanding in the past for us, and they wanted to see more of him. We've seen more of him over the past couple of seasons and he's obviously not a great player, the conversation now is whether he's better than Jack Colback. He's not. He's about on par with Billy Askew.

Blame Ajax for that;,class act is Anita

Misheaded it as well, keeper was put off by it

When did he score a diving header against QPR?
-
He was always impetuous and would spit the dummy out but my god he could inspire players and fans alike. Quite how we managed to get him as a player still baffles me, I was on hols in Italy when it was announced and simply didn't believe it. Those on here who'd been regulars from relegation to where we were just before he arrived (I'll excuse Peter Withe from that) will remember like me that debut against QPR, the queuing beforehand, the sun, the anticipation, the atmosphere for the whole day and that goal. It changed the club and for the present troubles we presently have, they wouldn't be here were it not for KK and very possibly that debut. We were a club going nowhere, in a shit ground with a team of diddly squat. We'd no doubt at some point have turned a corner but we'd now be a West Brom a West Ham or a Sunderland or such like. I'm not saying that's a bad thing from where we were and plenty of fans will tell us we're small time or delusional but directly from that QPR game I have memories of nearly winning the league, fantastic football and trips to Barcelona, Turin, Milan and many others which most other clubs can't compare with. KK will always be the man.

Hauled off

Possibly Seb but their goal was a direct result of negative football and inviting the opposition up the pitch and being able to press. Unbelievably bad passage of play.

Strange one, can only think we're getting rid of a wage. He has a new baby here to a local lass and has no reason to want to leave. Can't imagine his lass is best pleased.
-
He had to take that chance; you can't let a ball go across goal without knowing what's behind you
-
Why did Kompany leave that
-
There's not been a manager up here who hasn't anything but good words for Shola. We all know his faults but good for him, hope he takes as much money out of them as possible.
-
Wonder if he'll offer The Gallowgate out if he starts getting stick. What will the press make of "get out of our Club, you fat Geordie bastard, get out of our club".

Caulkin has mentioned attending Newcastle matches before becoming a journalist. I don't recall him saying that of the NE clubs. I sure he says this in an article somewhere. He's being professional about it unlike that clown The Hunter on RTG who panders to his adoring forum fans by wearing his red and white tie on Sunday Supplement.

Because Tiote is so much better because he flies into tackles, concedes fouls on the edge of the area and needless yellows? His distribution is absolutely no better than Anita's. Play Abeid alongside Anita to offer some physical compensation, not the passenger that is Colback. People on here also seem to neglect the point that confidence is an issue for players, also. If you were frozen out by your manager for a matter of seasons and now found yourself in the team only because another player is on International duty, whilst the system doesn't play anywhere near to your strengths, you probably wouldn't feel too great about yourself. I like him as a player, and although he's not the answer to our problems he would definitely benefit the team given a run in the team under a competent manager. It's just so frustrating reading people dismiss him because he 'can't cope with the physicality of the Premiership' etc. He is one of our better players and we are not utilising him. Your last sentence is laughable. Tiote is a walking disaster at the moment but is still a better option than Anita. Colback has been far better than Anita. He's had his chances, he's not taken them.
-
This thread us all about what people think Anita is capable of against others pointing out what he actually does. He does f*** all, he doesn't beat an opponent to get beyond them, he wants too much time on the ball, he loses concentration, he doesn't break up play, he's easily pushed off the ball and he offers very little creativity. Pointing out the odd but of good play doesn't wash. I don't care where he plays, he's not going to be good enough for this league and we have better options for what he'd offer in any position. There's posts on here suggesting he could dictate play if played in the correct position. Bollocks could he. He needs a slower, less physical league. He's trundled around the pitch like little boy lost.

Complete mis header as well
-
Are people still defending him? He offers nothing in this league, the young lad Reed for Soton was far more effective.

From what I saw many Gers fans thought we should have been grateful for what Ashley had done for us and that for less outlay he could help them sweep all before them up there. Deluded Geordies. Warnings about Ashley were given and as these have started to fall into place there has been a bit of of a sea shift in opinion. Gers have been unbelievably badly run for well over a decade and I can see why, at first, many thought Ashley would be good for them when all they had to go on was media coverage us. It could turn very nasty up there.

Embarrassing again leaving early

Hoddle wouldn't be my first choice by any means but I can see him as having a good chance of getting it. Hoddle is only remembered for his personal beliefs which, mad as they were, didn't affect his teams. I'm not sure how it's gone for him in Spain with trying to give a second chance to those youngsters who didn't quite make it but I'd like to think that it's a sign of a man with a positive outlook and a willingness to give youngsters a chance. Given our philosophy for buying that would hopefully be a good thing. Let's me honest, current well respected managers are hardly going to be falling over themselves to work under Ashley.
-
Got given that the position is Head Coach and probable issues around going for someone already in a managerial role (in that Ashley wouldn't want to pay compensation to get his man), I wouldn't be too disappointed with giving Hoddle a go. He was a fantastic player and by all accounts a very good coach and his teams were usually set up to play attractive football. After his fiasco with the Eileen Drewery stuff and his ill advised comments about people with disabilities he hasn't had a look in. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if he got the job.
