The problem I've got with him is that I simply don't believe his reasons and he's using his religion to drive his position. There's a belief that he was after an improved deal and it pretty evident that he likes the cash and nice to have's (Miss Newcastle for one). He could have simply said he didn't agree with Wonga as a company and didn't want to wear the shirt. However, he's brought his religious beliefs into this to get his way. He's mugging us off and there's people out there thinking he's getting hard done by and trying to justify all of this. I'd tell him to get on the next plane out - Portugal or a new club.
  2. Perhaps Graham Carr has kicked off a bit.
  3. Mackem legend - new Centre Foward coach - perfect for our tactics.
  4. Been told he's still 6 weeks away from being fit and will miss the start of the season. Also WH are waiting for a work permit for some South American, did get told the country - but I've forgot which one! (could even have been Mexican - full of useful info).

He's mugging the club and the fans off with his position on this. He's very selective with his take on his religious responsibilities. I don't believe that the club have any other option but to get rid if he won't wear the shirt. I have no intention of buying a top with Wonga on it but then again I'm not buying paid a fortune to do so. On a less serious note, can they not misspell the logo on his shirt so that it reads Wango?

I don't think you've identified any hypocrisy there at all. I doubt Islam has any doctrine about not being able to work for a salary. I doubt it has - doesn't mean that there's an element of double standards going on. I doubt Cisse's burning ambition in his career was to play for us and that money talked. Surely he has to accept that in this league that cash is king and if he doesn't like what that may bring he should not have signed? I've no real sympathy with him over this.

He's got no problem accepting the obscene salary he receives but objects to a company charging obscene interest rates. Some of customers of Wonga will also be putting money into Cisse's pocket, perhaps he should ask for a pay cut or as has been suggested put some of his salary to a charity dealing with debt. I dislike these pay day loan companies with a passion - praying on the vulnerable like they do. But, Cisse can't court the devil and not expect to be asked to get burnt.

Glad to see Robson Green has got them rattled. Now Robson may well have turned himself into a bit of a wanker with a terrible attempt to change his accent, but the complete abscene of anything Sunderland related has been quite funny. http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=790524&page=12
  10. In reference to your claim about Malcolm Macdonald, I think you are seriously underestimating how quick some of the speedsters from the current era would look in the 70's. I think you are seriously under estimating how quick those older players were. Supermac ran the 100m in 10.4 secs on Superstars without blocks, spikes and on a cinder track - that time would have qualified him for the GB Olympic relay squad that year. As for strength he was built like an Ox and again in Superstars he out threw every other athlete in the medicine ball throw. As for Milburn, he ran in the famous Powderhall race in 1940, won his heat but then threw the semi final by weighing himself down with pennies in one of his shoes. It was a huge gambling race and his backers wanted to save him for the following year. His initials were JET and speaking to people who saw him play they say that's what he was. Walcott's fastest recorded time is 10.6 secs and as far as I can see Marvell Wynne of Colarado Rapids holds the record for a footballer at 10.39 secs whilst at High School. PEA can run the 100 in 11 secs. Supermac would have been simply devasting in today's game.

    Sammy Ameobi

He's highly rated by a good number of Scouts, he has a lot to learn and has to beef up a bit but he could become a player. I'd happily send him out to the Championship for a year and see how he gets on.
  12. He knows who the Champions of France are? He's talking about Anelka isn't he; he discovered him in the first place iirc.

The only way to assess this sale is to see who we bring in as replacements. Here's hoping that JFK's ego gets the better of Ashley and he swears and lies his way to some quality signings. I've no doubt that he's hell bent on bringing in a biggish name - to show us c**nts and no nowts what we are. Hope he embarrasses the hell out of with a steady stream of quality new faces. Not going to happen, pity.
  14. Wish him all the best. He was pretty reliable for us, didn't offer much going forward (great ball for the opener at Benfica iirc) but he usually did a job defensively.
  15. Poyet has been a nothing but trouble for us throughout his career - he's done well as a manager so far but everytime I think of Poyet I also see that little twat beside him. Ashley wouldn't, would he?
  16. It seems reasonable to accept that there is something in the stories linking us with Tompkins. I was told last year we were sniffing around him and was also told that his best position may be in midfield. Our interest is long standing.
  17. What was strange is that he said both Ben Afri and Ben Arfi and Kebab and Cabaye at different points in the interview. He hasn't done his homework (knows it all already) and was just guessing at names. It was like the bloke in the pub who knows nowt spouting out names he'd briefly heard of 4 or 5 weeks ago joining in on a conversation and making a right tit of himself.
  18. I can't see how Anita can fit into the football we play; he just doesn't have the physique. Unless we drastically alter the way we play he's going to struggle. Good player but not for us and when we are never going to spend shit loads of money he cost us a fair old wedge. I can understand it if Pardew was a bit pissed off if the signing was forced on him.
  19. Who is this All Over Key Men - sounds like he's cracked it already.
  20. Think Kinnear has Tompkins in his FM game - he plays for England. We are a complete laughing stock, if Ashley has any the best interests of the club at heart he personally needs to get the key staff together and thrash this out. It may well mean casualties and we probably won't like these but the longer this instability and unrest goes on the worse the damage will become. The fact that Ashley has so far done nothing to arrest the spiral into utter chaos suggests he simply doesn't give a flying fuck. If Carr does go we will have key players on the phone to their Agents asking for a move. Will Kinnear be worried? Course he won't be; his arrogance is such that he does believe that he can throw a team together made up of nobodies who he can bully into performing. A circus act. SJP is going to be to toxic if this fool is allowed to systematically destroy the fabric of our club. My initial laughter is fast turning into real hatred and worry. I'm dreading the start of the season.
  21. I bumped into my ITK - he's met Kinnear a few times and reckons he came across as somewhat clueless and hadnt the faintest idea on what was going on in today's football. This ITK is off to Turkey on Thursday to take in the World U20 Championships but says he is at a function shortly where Carr will be there so with a bit luck the next time I see him I may have a bit more info. It appears to those in the game that nobody saw this coming and Llambias really has spat his dummy out over this. The whole house of cards could come tumbling down. We must keep hold of Carr.
  22. See Bill Bradshaw (The Hunter as he calls himself on there) has even taken to starting threads on RTG about this. Reckons his information is that it's "mayhem". Great thread Bill, insightful stuff.
  23. He's going to make a point of signing lower league players to prove his genius. Why get a good freebie when you can splash a million on some unproven bloke from Barnet? He'll at that price we can buy a team full of them and reduce the wage bill. We'd also be in a good position for the start of next season in the Championship.
