  1. We need pace in the middle of the park. QPR, Forest & WBA have all caused us major problems through quick passing and pace from box to box through the centre. Last night was embarrassing at times with the space and spare men they had through this area. Ideally, I'd also like to see pace on the right wing as well but we were found well wanting at times last night.
  2. In the team SBR built he was the player from the centre who could get beyond the opposition and when he did this well we could beat anyone. He had many faults as a player but had he stayed fit and hadn't been such a tit he would have had a fantastic career. There were times when he was almost unplayable; couldn't shoot for fuck like.
  3. Wonder how much they are paying him.........mugs.
  4. Right, for those having a go at Harper's position: Harper has to jump almost from standing due to where the cross is looping in from and proximity to the goal line, Varney has had a run from the 18 yard line to build speed to make his jump. For those saying it wasn't a foul; please explain from the stills why Harper fails to keep hold of the ball. Your answer will involve Varney dragging Harper's arm away from the ball. Ban anyone still saying it wasn't a foul, call the authorities and get them Sectioned.
  5. It was a foul end of story. I suppose Shilton was to blame when Maradona punched the ball in as well. Please, I'm inviting anyone to explain why he was.
  6. Newcastle is going to be full of Xmas shoppers today; they aren't going to close the shops because the pavements and steps outside are dangerous, so there's no way they could justify postponing the match for the same reason.
  7. Some of the performances put in by teams in this division are baffling. QPR look like a team going places at SJP, 'boro put 5 passed them & then play like dog shite at home to Bpool & then Cardiff. Before today I reckoned 'boro would be a hard game; if they perform like that next week we should hammer them. That said we will take a lead, sit back, & allow them to come on to us.
  8. My, 'boro were shite. Strachan oot.
  9. No we shouldn't we were ahead twice and lost the lead. 2 points dropped. Hmm, I see what you're saying but that kinda suggests were playing well. We haven't been playing well and despite the tremendous results we've been getting, save for the first 30 mins against Swansea, we've been very average. The Smoggies will be a big test for us.
  10. Step son got back around 7pm. Says Barnsley were the much better side; we should look at this as a point gained.
  11. piss off with your sensible argument, we need rabble rousing rhetoric. THIS IS SPARTA!!!!!* ( south yorkshire*) I think it will be great for a lot of the young uns who may not have experienced one of these days before. Years ago it was the standard for games in South Yorkshire. I've seen some big away followings, I missed the Liverpool away 0-4 cup game but I think the biggest I ever saw was Sheff Wed away one promotion season when we lost 4-2. Estimates put our support at 16-18,000 and although it was harder to give an accurate number back then the gate was about 48,000 and we definitely had at least a third of that. I was at both the Lpool and Sheff Wed games. The Sheff Wed game was the best I'd been to up to that point in my life and remained so for a good while afterwards. There were thousands of us but the noise from their Kop when they scored was something else. We played so well that game an aal!
  12. Going to Stan Seymour's shop to look at things I couldn't have, buying Tip Top at the ground and some funny tasting orange sweets, peanuts, my dad having an right old argument at a game against Leeds, sitting on concrete barriers or the concrete wall at the front beside the cinder track, running back to Worswick Street bus station wondering how so many others had already got there (hadn't worked out they'd left before the final whistle) & above all; wishing I was Supermac.
  13. Boxing Day, 2:2 Howard Gayle scored twice (he's black he's broon he's playing for the Toon.....) loads of NUFC in Fancy Dress.
  14. Having to escape onto the pitch when the Gallowgate Corner started to want a go at the Everton fans beside us in the East Stand Paddock. Having bits of terrace thrown at us a Burnden Park while fans behind us were pissing on the one's in front. Everyone too squashed to move. 14,000 going to Anfield. Standing at the front of the Leazes throwing those peanuts at policemen. Wearing a denim jacket with all kind of badges sewn on; wishing I had butchers coat as well. Hibs "friendly" at home. Loads more, it was definitely more fun back then and for most of it much worse football.
  15. Henry should be ashamed. I'd ban him for bringing the game into disrepute.
  16. No doubt Anelka exagerrated but I'd be wanting a penalty for that. Given didn't get the ball and did contact Anelka. Still, well done ref.
  17. I can't think of a single reason why they should be allowed in. I happen to like the Scots but they generally hate the english. The Old Firm are the main reason the SPL is ruined and they have to stay in the bed they made. If a european super league ever comes in they could join that & what's more I think they should be in front of us & by quite a distance.
  18. Pay as he plays deal & he'd be no risk at all.
  19. From looking at MA's actions it seems to me that there comes a point where money almost becomes a secondary consideration to be used as a kind of excuse for actions. He wants to humiliate the fans and show who the boss is, he'll sell when he gets what he thinks is a good price and in the meantime he'll do the bare minimum the keep the club going. If we do not go up this season expect the playing side to become worse, the crowds to dwindle and Ashley to sell at a point where there is little value left in it and where new owners would need a major overhaul of the playing side and where such owners would not have the cash to do so having scraped together 10 Million to have bought the club and having agreed further funding to secure debts. At that point MA may have lost millions but job done. This is a man who lost 133 Million at the roulette wheel and more than double that spread betting on HBOS shares - he didn't even buy the fucking shares! The money is nice but if he's having fun or has a bee in his bonnet that takes over. We need to get promoted and pray that someone with money pays the Kings ransom MA will demand. I'd rather he walks away when we are the PL as opposed to Div1 with him grinning like the Cheshire Cat.
  20. MA is well aware he much he is hated; fact is he doesn't give a toss about it. A boycott wouldn't force him out, he'll go on his own terms. All a boycott will do is harm the players morale, give the opposition encouragement and put off the type of owner we'd want. This is a man who treats everything with contempt and holds grudges. Bide your time, wait until he has gone and cannot harm the club anymore and then hope to god that someone gives him the biggest kicking of his life and leaves no clue why. Let him live in fear.
  21. I take it you weren't there to witness the despairing football we played for large periods today.
  22. Not read the other posts so excuse me if this is same old, but the referee had a nightmare after we equalised, he seemed to be apologising to their to their bench after Nolan scored and Harewood should not start in front of Ranger who did more in 2 minutes than he did in 70 or so. So pleased we won 'cos we were awful or long long periods.
