  1. Steve Bruce currently regurgitating has tried and tested preseason interview on Sky
  2. Pope is a much better keeper than Dubs. His distribution isn’t great but I can’t ever recall watching a match where Dubs has created anything. So long as Pope doesn’t put a defender under pressure/ fall on his arse/ miss the ball/ keep kicking into touch then we’re not missing anything with the change. Dubs is ok, Pope would get us a few extra points, no doubt in my mind.
  3. I really rate Pope, he put in some top performances towards the end of the season. We can work on his distribution, keep it simple. Let’s be honest even the best keeper distribution leads to a goal, the main thing is to retain possession and don’t put your defence under pressure. There’ll be loads of drills for that.
  4. Must have been a pretty big change of mind on Henderson. Priorities changed?
  5. Shearer’s injury resulted in JDT having to play as the main striker and he missed a sitter on debut. It was a position he wasn’t suited to and that miss seemed to have a huge impact on him. We’d only kept Sir Les……

Awful tactics and players going through the motions. Very worrying, we’ve got a good few players who are no where near as good as they think they are.

Southgate threw away the Euro Final by bottling the 2nd half and he’s been absolutely clueless in 2 games against Hungary.

Well, that’s just not true, none of them are bigger, on any level. Sunderland’s biggest problem is that it’s in Sunderland. We also suffer from location and tbh we could do with the whole region getting proper investment to make the whole place more attractive. As a region we get looked upon as massively 2nd rate. It’s a huge issue.

    Our movement is shocking.
  10. Don’t think Eriksen would come here tbh. As a whole package he’ll have far more attractive offers than helping us.
  11. Again that’s with the advantage of diet, data, conditioning, pitches even things like average height, standard of living. Have to say I struggle with the 60’s and some of the early mid 70’s as it’s a different game but, if you look just at the top players they’d be top players now.
  12. That’s complete bollocks tbh. Modern training/ conditioning is making players who would be otherwise be average into good/ functioning players. Some of the skill/ passing/ athleticism from the 70s/ 80s is right up there. No doubt there’s fewer poor/ passed it players now but the top players would always make it.
  13. Some clips of Ray Kennedy, a bit of a forgotten Rolls Royce player. That lad Keegan looks a bit useful as well. Liverpool have been spoilt over the years. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ray+kennedy&client=safari&hl=en-gb&prmd=inv&sxsrf=ALiCzsbLUJ-lI5Bc4dPn5NMovMaMazY19Q:1655022641424&source=lnms&tbm=vid&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwicp4zlv6f4AhWON8AKHTLmAGYQ_AUoA3oECAIQAw&biw=390&bih=664&dpr=3#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:e58886a7,vid:h01pInKbsKU,st:0
  14. Watch some videos of Rush and Dalglish together, Salah and Suarez could be very selfish. Rush and Dalglish were absolutely in tune. I get the fitness angle but these boys were getting kicked to shit every week. Luckily for Liverpool referees let Souness/ Case/ McMahon kick more shit out of the oppo. When we played them in KK’s FA Cup return Hanson/ Gillespie or Lawrenson (can’t remember who played) kicked us all over the park.
  15. I’d take Dalglish and Rush every time, absolutely unstoppable as a pair. Keegan was England Capt, European Footballer of the Year, Liverpool’s best player, a hero to me and I still can’t break that partnership up. Makes Salah and Suarez look like show ponies imo. Great players and absolute nails.
  16. Clemence Neal Hanson VVD Kennedy A Gerrard Souness Kennedy R Dalglish Rush Barnes Would absolutely destroy that team, can’t believe I can’t get Keegan, McDermott, Beardsley and a host of others in, I’m not old enough to remember Hunt/ Callaghan/ Stubbins et al but my team would take some beating. Could switch in Terry Mac for Ray Kennedy but feels better balanced. The hard choices mention in the other post aren’t hard at all and are all wrong.
  17. Wonder if Milanista remembers our visit there, we got the train into the city and there were loads of Milan fans cheering for us. I never saw an Inter fan until we got near the stadium, even the tram there was just chocker with us. Would love to see the tv coverage of the game, watching our end fill up was truly amazing. I can only compare it to when KK returned to Anfield in the 3rd round of the FA Cup on that Friday night; we put The Kop to shame that night and that was when they were noisy. Off topic I know but can’t wait for those trips again. Went into Louis Vuitton after a few with our NUFC tops on and then went into Prada and bought a tie; like, why not. Anyway, Botman, let’s hope he’s more Woodgate (minus injuries) than Boumsong should he sign.
  18. Supermac. He was like something from a comic strip. Devasted when he left, hate now seeing him in The Dog & Parrot after a game making a few Bob. Loads of punters with no idea what a player he was. I’ll be giving that pub a swerve next season after the game.
  19. I think what we’re meaning is that it’s best not to slide tackle. It’s an all or nothing challenge and as a forward I’d tempt defenders into a slide tackle confident that I’d skip passed them. The clip could just be bundling a load of eye catching tackles together as opposed to his general game. Hope so anyway.
  20. He looks a big strong lad. I hope those high lights aren’t his general game; sliding tackles usually suggest you’re either in the wrong position and have to adjust or you’re simply lacking a bit pace.

We’ve no creativity in that starting line up. Midfield is predictable and Saka and Sterling may as well be sitting with me. It’s all very laboured.
  22. Yeah, stick on badges are just awful. Stitch them on you tight gits, the mark up is massive as it is. When Castore first entered the market as a mid/ high end brand a lot of their gear was Fruits of the Loom clothing and a load went out for sale with the Castore branding but still with the FOTL labels inside the garments. Didn’t go down well.
  23. There’ll be loads of posturing going on and everyone looking for the best deal for themselves. We can’t just roll over to demands and this will lead to missing some targets but if a player really wants to come it’ll happen and those are the characters we’ll need. Agents and clubs will drag out our signings as long as they can.
  24. He clearly wanted Milan over us and we really need players who want to come here and be part of the future. We need a happy squad, there’ll be quite a bit of turnover in the next few seasons and keeping that team spirit and the right mentality will be key. Pretty pleased he’s not coming, hope he does well in Milan.
