  1. I really don't think Kinnear has much say in any of this tbh, and nothing whatsoever to do with how much we bid for a player.
  2. Every season I just wait for the injury crisis. I think a lot of it is just plain bad luck tbh. This season Lee Catermole has single handedly done for two of our most important players and no medical staff in the world could do anything about that.
  3. I'm hearing Javier Saviola and Matteo Ferrari from extremely unreliable sources. In the spirit of this thread I am prepared to share this information with you....
  4. I read it as a clear sign that Ashley is going to have another go at selling the club in the summer.
  5. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/12012009/58/premier-league-team-week.html As you say these things shouldn't be taken too seriously, but Deco and Bentley also spring to mind in the flops category.
  6. We may deserve all sorts of things. But the fact is we are a lower mid table side with an owner who either can't or won't provide the funding needed to move the club forward, and Steve Bruce is about the best option as a manager there is. No one with a higher profile would even look at us. And as I said on an earlier post even Bruce wouldn't take the job with Wise still in place.
  7. Bruce would never accept the current structure with Wise dipping his oar in, so it would need a change of tack by Ashley - or a new owner.
  8. I think WBA have got hell on to stay up tbh, I also don't think Hull are safe although their position is ok at present. You will always get some surprise results going for you and against you in any season but the thing that worries me is the number of points we've dropped in games at SJP against the rest of the mid to lower table. Home matches against the likes of Hull, Blackburn, Wigan, Stoke and West Ham have been and gone and we've only taken 3 points from that lot.
  9. I'm not a Kinnear fan but we are where we are. Geremi and Butt get picked as defensive midfielders ahead of who? And why are the lack of alternatives Kinnear's fault?
  10. Left backs are gold dust - how many decent ones can anyone name? Keep Enrique, he's young and got a lot of the talents that are needed.
  11. He was class today. Looking back now, it's almost comical the amount of grief he used to get on here. Hindsight-tastic. He's the kind of player who will look good on a one off for another team. Always has, probably why we signed him too. But week in week out what he brings is soon clear: not much. He was awesome in his first season with us when he was used in a holding role. He tackled everything that got near him, can anyone remember some of the shifts he put in that season? It went wrong when Roeder took full control, brought Butt back from his loan to Brum and tried Parker as a playmaker. He never made anything much happen really - the word pirhouette comes to mind. It may have been something to do with what was around him tbh. He's a good player.
  12. I wouldn't call Stoke the North West. It's an hour from Derby. Just maybe he is not living in Stoke city centre. Nicky Butt & Michael Owen play for us but both live in the North West. so Faye could have easily done the same basically. This story about wanting to live in the north-west is absolute bollocks tbh Indeed, everyone knows he fell out with Keegan. Fair enough. 1 player fell out with Keegan and we sold him but a) he cant single handedly keep Liverpool out so Stoke as a team deserve the credit and b) if we still had him, it doesnt mean we would have got a 0-0 draw with Liverpool. Selling Faye is just one of plenty of reasons we are s**** Lack of depth is the main reason tbh and letting a good, low cost player who can play central defence and central midfield go to Stoke was a brainless move (for him and for us).
  13. Graham Swann. Got his autograph He's a huge Toonfan apparently.
  14. No Guthrie is a real pisser. The last time we had no central midfielder on the pitch was in the second half of the Stoke match. We were shocking ffs.
  15. If another club is prepared to take Smith as a swap we need the player coming in to be a central midfielder or full back. We don't need Mido (though on his day he's a decent player) unless we are unloading one or two of the 3 strikers we already have who are in the 6 foot 2 inches or more category.
  16. Did you know they've invented the wheel? Your point is what exactly? This is a rumour thread and that is exactly what I have posted - a rumour. The rumour is that Ferguson is saying tonight that he's played his last game for Rangers. If the rumour is true then, to the best of my knowledge, he's not said that before tonight.
  17. Anyone heard a rumour today about Barry Ferguson? A mate just texted me that Ferguson is saying he's played his last game for Rangers.
  18. It does means he can be sold to Celtic, Norwich or some other f*cker in the summer and the club will get some money (albeit not much but better than nothing). The contract doesn't necessarily mean a lasting commitment, Wayne Bridge signed a four year contract at Chelsea in July and it just added a bit to his transfer fee. And before someone says Shola was almost sold several times in the last window but no one wanted him, remember he has actually been on the pitch a few times this season, and has even scored a goal or two, whereas he hardly played any football last season. He has more "value" now.
  19. Are we already in the championship? ffs Did everton say that when they signed Cahill? Did they fuckers. Or Jagielka? or Lescott? lol Im not saying dont sign anyone from the championship, Im saying those players with Zog gone would be a championship squad. Bullard and Elano both have premiership experience but man city and Fulham dont want them, both of whom are teams we should be competing with this season (not standing man citys new year spending spree). So buying players not good enough for them doesnt make sense to me. Elano has been good for man city, then again mido was for spurs, yes they can afford to replace him with a top drawer player, but until now they havent had the opportunity, and hes done f*** all to make them want to keep him. Very surprised to hear that Fulham don't want Jimmy Bullard - he's their best player.
  20. Well yes you are right - but we are in Doug Ellis rather than Randy Lerner territory here. Even Doug wouldn't have been that stupid, and Ashley - cock up though he may have made at Newcastle - is still an incredibly successful businessman. Brummie - missed my point mate. All I'm saying is that we are running a business model nearer to to the Ellis (ie keep it solvent, in the Premiership and sell when the right offer arrives) rather than the Lerner (let's have a look what needs doing and then make it happen).
  21. Well yes you are right - but we are in Doug Ellis rather than Randy Lerner territory here.
  22. Boycoutt the Geordie Mafia.
  23. Define your expectations when you made the decision to buy the biggest football club in the north east of England. And please outline the ways in which your first 18 months of owning Newcastle United have not been in line with those expectations.
  24. Surely Owen wants his England place back. So he has to to go somewhere he's going to get guaranteed first team football and can keep Capello's attention. I can't see him being a nailed on starter at any of the so called big 4 clubs tbh. He can't do 4-5-1 and that's what gets played quite often these days...
