But for all this supposed negativity we dominated the game. Check out the stats on possession, shots, corners etc. That doesn't show a side sitting back, it shows a side taking the game on. My take was not that we were negative but that we could not convert our pressure into goals against a side who don't aim to do much other than sit back and adopt "spoiling" tactics. Possibly Marveaux for Jonas from the start might have given us a bit more creativity but Marveaux had game time in Moscow and was poor imo.

Most games in this league are tight and not many are won by a comfortable margin, and that's even when the mega rich sides are playing those that relatively haven't got a pot to piss in. And so invariably results are down to moments of individual brilliance, defensive mistakes or something a referee does or doesn't see. The manager can influence it by putting on and taking off players who will make a difference. This season AP has not always got his bit right but today he did get it right against a side whose sole purpose is to be hard to break down. Well done

Wouldn't disagree with that but its also worth remembering that we have given both Chelsea and Spurs a game fairly recently.

I'll stick with what I said in the post above. Southampton have started to look vulnerable and I still think Villa and Wigan can do enough to stay up.

There was some really naive thinking going on at that time partly down to arogance and partly down to lack of knowledge and experience. Let's not forget that KK wasn't first choice for Ashley, he was behind Redknapp, a manager with a "traditional" disdain to having a director of football above him. The whole thing was indeed destined to fail if they were targetting old school managers of that type to work in that structure.

Yes. Wouldn't you even want to know who the new owners were?

Yuuup. Quotes all read to me as following: Newcastle will have to have one helluva squad to achieve anything in the next 7.5 years I hope the f***er wasn't implying that we have been on his back this season? He's got to be aware that he's been getting stick away from match time. This forum is proof of that. If you mean that he's been given a decent time of it by the supporters during the matches then yes I'd agree. The press too have been ok generally. i wonder what others experiences have been like away from this forum ? mine are that he's been given very little stick for the poor performances from my mates etc who go to games but some of the players have been slagged off (in the pubs, at work etc, not at the ground). Most of the people I talk to don't want him gone tbh and I think that is mainly because they don't want us to go into another period of instability. Having said that I do think he has bought himself a bit more tolerance than someone else might have got because he exceeded expectations last season. That's not to say that there hasn't been plenty of anger aimed at him after games like the Reading one, and I have good mates (and family!) who felt he should have gone after that. I do agree with you though that the (lack of) performance by some of the players has probably been more strongly expressed than any anti Pardew sentiment during the recent horrendous run we were on. For the record I don't want him to go. I'm praying we have a decent end to the season and everyone involved with the club learns from what has happened these last few months. I do think AP has the ability to do a good job here (I know some will disagree with that) and I don't want the experience he has of what this club is about, its supporters, its owners, the players etc walking out the door.

We should recognise by now that Pards sees things that other mortals can't even comprehend.

Mrs Cabaye's latest offering: "no yahan will stay in newcastle it was a joke!" I also liked "Belle victoire les mcppies!!!!#newcastlechelsea"

QPR, Reading and Southampton to go down. The last two don't look obvious choices right now. I respect Martinez' ability to get Wigan to survive and Villa are very good going forward and only need to get someone like Dunne back to marginally improve their defence and they will pick up points. I'm not too sure about Norwich staying up as well, but I'll back Hughton for old times sake.

Are you saying Ashley hasn't put any money into these deals? If so are you sure about that? Not that it matters much in the overall scheme of things but my point was not questioning our viability or whether the club is self financing year on year. It was more to do with how the club's annual cash flow moves during the year and whether we actually had that much money at our disposal in January. Our policy is to pay for transfers up front so presumably that means we have shelled out somewhere between £15 and £20 million? Other clubs don't seem to pay for their transfers that way although maybe Chelsea would be one that does (?) also I don't know exactly how much of the Ba fee we receive, there was talk that a chunk of it went to an agent. Haven't seen the accounts for a while but the last time I looked we had £9 million of cash in June 2011, that was obviously after the Carroll sale. Since then I don't know if that cash sum has increased or decreased. I was just wondering if Ashley had to provide a "bridging" loan.

I'm pretty sure she's normally fairly average looking. Agree the photo on that twitter page doesn't look like her. Photo of her below: http://www.nufcfans.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/nufcfans_yohan_cabaye_feature_newcastle_united_3.jpg

Did very well. I was optimistic that we would do some good business but not to this extent. 9/10.

Jonas is out of form, he's lost his confidence and everything that goes with that. But I think he was giving it everything he had - and imo he never does less than that. The manager can either sh*t on him or try and give him some confidence and help him get back to form.
-
Does it matter who he hugged after the game? He'd originally left Jonas out but had to reinstate him when Marveaux got injured. Whatever Jonas did or didn't do on the pitch he gave 100% and AP was thanking him for the effort imo.
-
Possible reasons: the club isn't doing as well on the pitch as last season and he doesn't want to mess with relegation and/or he's feeling a bit flusher due to the success of that part of his business empire that accounts for well over 70% of his wealth. I don't know what the club's finances look like and consequently I don't know if the club has the cash to fund these deals right now. Only those on the inside would have that knowledge.

Like any of us on here I have no idea how Ashley sees his investment in the club. But it is a fact that the market value of Sports Direct has increased by about 65% in the last year and about 35% since the summer. It is only "paper" money but his shares in Sports Direct are now worth £750 million more than they were a year ago #just saying.
-
Doesn't Ashley have his own plane? Clearly didn't use it for Loic Remy, lesson learned perhaps.
-
Don't think there are any direct flights from Toulouse to Newcastle tbh. Flybe do it but it involves a stop somewhere and takes forever. The only options I can see from Toulouse are in to Heathrow, Gatwick or Bristol. Happy if someone proves me wrong. Maybe he'll fly in from Paris or Ashley will lay on a private jet?

You doubt it was planned to wait until January where these players' prices would be quartered? I'm sure I read somewhere a quote from Llambias saying that he/Ashley prefer the January window because everyone takes the p1ss with prices in the the Summer. As a result there are better deals to be done in January. Cannot find the quote on the net though...
