I think this best explains why people have turned against Sam and why it does appear that he has either lost the plot or is trying to lose his job deliberately. Top of this page had a quote from Sam saying Smith has lead the line very well in the last couple of games.... then he goes and drops a bloke who natural position it is and put Smith in his place (whose natural position it isnt). well my point is that villa were at one point down to 16th last season i think, and now look. we had a pretty good albeit short start and i believe we will pick up next seaon. Didnt Villa just draw a ridiculous amount of games last season? Not sure if they were consistently losing and being out played by the poorest teams in the league... over to Brummie for clarification....

we didn't expect magical results but after 19 games and 7 months you'd expect some sign of improvment,not the feeling that the performances arethe same as the last 2 mangers who at least would atempt to win away games. "not playing well at the moment"... that moment has lasted since august. we played well 1st half at bolton,then against spurs and arsenal. don't fall into the trap that we beat west ham and everton seemingly comfortably because we didn't play well and there were long spells in both games when we were under the cosh. Yeah. Results is one thing.. I was prepared for a season of ups and a lot of downs but my general impression is that he really doesnt know from game to game which team to play and who to play where. I think this influences players mentality very heavily and as such send them out onto the pitch, no where near focused enough. If we had played basically the same 11 every game and things werent quote going our way then I would think "not to worry, slow process and the lads are trying to gel". However, it just hasnt been like that at all.

Where? we have it's just not very evident at the minute ..because it's being stiffled by negative football Who has it then in our squad? emre zog milner duff martins all have talent just cant see it at the minute Exactly. Some fucking cracking talent there. Get each of them playing to the top of their game and we would be a cracking side. "Creative talent"? I wouldnt have any doubts that if played in the correct manner and full of confidence Emre, Zog/Duff, Milner and Martins would give plenty of teeams trouble.

I thought exactly the same until the last 2 games where we seem to have been out-thought, out-fought, out-played by, in my opinion, the 2 worst teams in the league. ( following on from really struggling, lucky wins against 2 of the other worst teams Fulham and Birmingham ). I really want Sam to succeed but it worries me greatly why the players just dont seem to be responding in any kind of positive way to his management and instructions. In these days of player power, I just cant see the day when things will turn around. Nail on head.

Its sad to say but that is exactly right. 1 result against a weaker side can just be put down to a one off but to struggle against Derby twice, Wigan, Fulham, Sunderland, Birmingham has to have something to do with the manager/tactics/coaching.
