  1. that has to be the single worst performance by a captain that I have ever witnessed - and thats any player for any team, not just the toon. He visibly couldnt be arsed when he realised he had to play a bit defensive. He should be paid off and kicked out of the club tomorrow... just take the financial hit. It will be worth every penny The man is a disgrace.
  2. what frightens me os teh complete lack of basic ability most of them seem to have. controlling the ball seems to be success for most of them. i lost count of the amount of times we just kicked the ball out of play or in completely the wrong direction. this cant even be a training things can it. surely a professional footbaler can control the ball 99 times out of 100
  3. So is Setanta's programme going to be called The FEPL show ??

are we meant to be impressed by a blatant lie like that ??

    Gahahahaa!

where is the article.... i wanna read
  6. Its an obvious thing to say and I apologise if its been said before but the first 6-7 games are their key. If they get off to a good start their confidence will carry them through... if they really struggle then thankfully they shoudl carry on in that vain. I am relying on their previous champtionship season where they didnt carry on with their perfromances..... cant be doing with them being above us
  7. didnt he mean metaphorically wiping arses with a daily mirror
  8. To dare to move away from Owen, I would like to see Roeder put Edgar as peft back for the last 3 games. Carr may have done well there recently but its time to look forward and at Carr's age, he isnt it. Lets hope he thinks about the future and gives him a coupel of games to get his confidence up for next year
  9. If that happens i'll buy a hat (don't own one) and eat it. aye. no chance that will happen.
  10. Because Glenn will be praying for him to bag 5 goals in his last 3 games and be able to say "Look what we could have been had he been fit". He just wont be able to resist it. Of course something bad is goiing to happen. Its the Newcastle way
  11. Fair point, but you could also look at it from the other side, and consider that Man United are within spitting distance of winning the league, and could very well be about to add the Champions League and the FA Cup to that. If i were a Man United fan, I wouldn't have wanted the takeover to be funded by debt, but if anything was able to make me forget about it, it would be that kind of treble. Do you think those FC United fans are staying away now
  12. I think it would probably make more sense to bring own on later on as a sub but I have suspicion that Roeder wont be able to resist starting him
  13. What facets of Shay's goalkeeping makes him streets ahead? better shot-stopper, Jussi seems to be king of the hollywood save Jussi's handling isn't as good as Shay's more consistant, very rarely do we see Shay make mistakes Better shot-stopper is arguable, fairly similar imo. Handling? What like on crosses and corners? Shay doesn't make huge clangers but he also takes very few risks which doesn't help the defence. Our defence is s*** which dosen't help Shay. Shay sticking to his line doesn't help our s*** defence. I reckong the chicken came first... way ahead of the egg
  14. Two draws with Arsenal depsite our injuries. An away defeat which he got totally wrong and a battling home draw with Man Ure. Narrow defeat to Chelsea and a well deserved draw. Defeat and Win to Champions League semi finalist. All against Top Class Managers, with top class tactical knowledge, all attained with horrendous injury problems. One game in which the Manager got things wrong. Like I said, look at it any way you want, it depends on your mindset, Im not a manic depressive, I dont have prescription drugs to stop me committing suicide, I dont let hate or bitterness rule me out of reasoned thought. Better than we normally do against the top 4 aswell Wasnt that a few year ago when teams like that dreaded coming to st james' park or infact for any other team. Just look when we went down to arsenal and won 3-1. We ended up top of the league that night Boy those days didnt last long. All those results prove is that Roeder is not capable of motivating his players against lesser teams. Home defeats to Fulham, Sheffield United and Manchester City show that. Happy days. The sight of those Arsenal players whinging their tits off after the whistle had gone (wasnt it henry that kept having a go at the Graham Poll) will last long in the memory
  15. If it happens it will be a cracking test for us and for what we would perceive as our full strength forward line, as we are up against this seasons "Success story". Reality is they are probably too rusty to have that much of an impact
  16. And in my eyes, Rooneys attitude/performance/moral was boosted by the substitution (obviously as well as the goal). Footballers need leading by the hand at the best of times and Fergusons decision got more out of his own players as well as put nerves into Evertons
  17. I think we are all in agreement with the 2nd point but we got improvement under SBR but ultimately just ended in disappointment. We had success to an extent by getting qualification to the Champions League. Anyone any idea how to continue that improvement when you change your manager instead of going back to the start?
  18. I'm no defender of Roeder but comparing his substitution options with Mourihno's isn't a fair comparison. Look at Chelsea's bench compared to ours. Our bench this season was mainly kids and average squad players not internationals brought in for huge fees. Just about all the players on Chelsea's bench would make our starting 11. It does't really matter who is on the bench, it's showing that he is trying to do something when Plan A isn't working. If Plan A doesn't work, I'd like Plan B to be tried, even if that ultimately doesn't work either. But Roeder isn't the only one. My criticism of Jol is his reluctance to change the gameplan. Against Sevilla we conceded 2 goals in the first 10 minutes, needed 4 to go through. Defoe sat on the bench till the 70th minute. He may not have made the slightest bit of difference but fans want to see the effort to change things around being made. Agreed
  19. anyone else shit scared he isnt going to make it to half time ?
  20. Had the Sheff Utd result been totally out of character and been the only one against what we woudl class "lesser" opposition then maybe the exucse could hold some water. As it was one in a line of poor result against nothing teams, then the tiredness thing cant be used.... unless they were tired for alternative reasons in the other games against Fulham, Man City, Charlton, Middlesbrough etc etc
  21. I think what frustrates me and what worries me about Roeders ability as a manager is that whenever we have had a good result (whether it be lucky or not), we never seem to be able to carry any confidence that we gain from the result, on to the next game. We put in a decent performance against Chelsea and got a good confidence boosting result. It will be interesting to see how much that affects the performance tomorrow night....
  22. For me I have to agree with someone who posted on here yesterday We have to focus on what we ultimtely really want and that is all out attacking football. What gets me about Roeder is I just cant see what his style is - I can never seem to work out what they have been working on in training all week. We need a manager whose philosophy is to play attacking football and that goals win games - not if you dont conced you dont lose. I dont think there is anyone out there now who is so open to it all like Keegan was but we have to try and find someone as similar to him as possible because we all remember how great it was to watch his team play. Get that back and people might start smiling again
  23. They lost to West Ham........We beat Liverpool... But aye, in your mind im sure you're right We cant just go picking individual games otherwise Southend would be claiming teh Premiership title... we need to look at the whole picture. We are just a shite premiership team with very little to look forward to
