Man Ure lost to Southend who were bottom of that league, s*** happens, we beat Palermo who were top of Serie A. Man U made sure that wasnt repeated. We seem to have accepted that one win as our success for the season. As you said in the Man U/Southend reference, one game means little as anything can happen.... its across the season that matters. Our season as a whole has been SHITE

As others have said we have played our best football at the peak of this injury crisis! When Roeder has had decisions to make he has f***** it up! He plays Carr whenever he is fit and his first choice central midfield pairing is Parker and Emre with Emre playing the holding role FFS! Palermo obviously had a decent start to the season but having not been able to hold onto the lead has shown that they werent that great in what has been a severely weakend league this year Whilst 48hrs is a short time between games, its too easy an excuse and when we are dealing with professional athletes, I find that one hard to accept

Very true. Still. I would rather be the best of the rest rather that one of the anonymous clubs making up the numbers after the top 7or 8
-
Aye totally unrealistic, where did he finish last Year with a team that was heading down (general consensus on here) Relegation is far more realistic, 7th and down remember mackems.gif Typical honeymoon period... happens time and time again
-
Top 6 is totally unrealistic. I think the best we can expect/hope for of a team with Roeder is the same position as this year... and that is purely based on us having the same level of luck that we have had this year.
-
Although it would never happen I am in favour of keeping Glenn at the club. i think he definitely has a value but as first team manager.... its just never going to happen for him and i think there is already too much negative feeling about his style of management/football being played for him to reverse it. Sadly, managers never take a demotion so his only way out is a sacking.... be it sooner rather than later

It will be interesting to see what Roeders demeanour is tomorrow night. He generally looks stressed and under pressure already. Anotehr 24 hours of Allardyce for Newcastle talk is bound to have some additional affect on him.
-
But dont you think that the mere appearance of ronaldo coming on affected everton enough to make those mistakes. they didnt look like making them before he came on. All I was really aiming for in the original post was that Ferguson knew exactly when to make the substitution as much as who actually came on. I am just dreaming and hoping that one day we might be ale to say the same about our manager.
-
No... he did it when they pulled back to 2-1. therefore sensing it wouold give them an extra edge as Evertone would be a bit delicate. My point being, I am hoping Roeder can learn to judge when teh right time to make subs is and not just when the crowd tell him to Well, we can all sit around and hope that Roeder suddenly becomes a top manager... Dreaming and hoping is all I have got.....
-
I agree the fact it was Ronaldo makes it a bit of an exception but for me it highlighted that Ferguson thought on his feet and just just glory on his team scoring a goal. It sounds so simple but Roeder hasnt shown many, if any, similar examples of high managerial intelligence

As much as i dislike Man U, I felt that Alex Ferguson decision, bringing Ronaldo on immediately after having pulled a goal back against Everton, was a perfect example of a Manager who knows how and when when to make a tactical change. Knowing that being psychologically a little fragile after having just conceded, the added sight of Ronaldo coming on, I think, in part helped them push on and blitz Everton in that last half an hour I can only hope that Roeder, if he is to be our Manager next year, and the rest of the backroom staff, can take note of things like this and learn from them
-
Surely the problem now is that Roeder has not done badly enough to be a guaranteed sacking, and the UEFA run has effectively made him look good enough to survive another year? I don't know the intricacies of FS's psyche, but I'd have thought he has a lot of personal stock riding on Roeder's appointment being a good one, and he has to give him the chance to prove that - meaning that fewer points and a closer flirtation with relegation would actually have turned out much better for you, giving you the justification to lose Roeder and grab Allardyce (who, dodgy or not, you've got to say has shown he knows his s***) while you can. Sadly I fear that you are spot on. It has been mentioned plenty on this forum that there are enough excuses for Roder to at least be given next season to see what he can do... terrifying thought
-
Luck ?? I am sure Roeder would tell you it was his brilliant tactical nouse and use of a terribly injury-ravaged side. Plus, one of his sigbnings scored so he surely must have master minded the whole thing !!
-
Keegan for Chairman. After that the rest will take care of itself (assuming he has learned that to scrap youth and reserve sides isnt really the best idea in the world)..
-
If this is true, funny as it is.... what are the chance of FFS sitting at home tonight, seeing a possible opportunity If Allardyce is on the market with nowt to do.... Whether we like his style or not, at this precise moment in time, we simply is a better option that Roeder and must surely be in a position to put us back up the right end of the table

Wouldnt be the best first things to although not the worst replacement. Some might see it as a good sign that he is prepared to come and rip the team apart starting at the back - there has been the odd whispering comment from time to time (rare I know) that Given doesnt command his 6 yard box quite as he should??
-
Guilty..... Should have also included in the vidence against column - "Increasingly poor and ridiculous post match interviews and excuses"
-
General consensus seems that Bouazza may be worth a look at....... what are the chances that Glenn has any idea how good he is ?
-
been a s**** couple of weeks for the poor fella having just found out that his wife had bugged his Range Rover 2 months ago !!!
-
Its hard for me to say as an exile - I get to see the team so rarely these days but I am amazed to hear you spoke to people who are behind him I think the mentality of teh away fan is always different - away fans always give fantastic support to the team on the pitch where as at home, they are far more critical and less suypportive If there are some people in support of him then I despair
-
you know he just signed a new contract right? Contracts mean nowt nowadays. Just a way of securing either a transfer fee or compensation
-
Jackie Milburn Kevin Keegan Alan Shearer
-
What frightens me the most is that everyone on this forum is near enough in agreement as to what the problems are both on an off the pitch.... how on earth to the people paid to do the job not see them as well..... do they go the other way out of spite
-
Ranieri was actually desperate for the job and was baffled as to why he hadn't heard back from Shepherd. Houllier talked of wanting to come back to the premiership and seemed to be genuinely interested in the job. Unfortunately Shepherd turned his nose up at them despit their premiership success, as a matter of fact a lot of fans did too. I would have gladly had either one of them back then and I still would. well there seems to be a few clubs turning their noses up at Ranieri where is he now? some small time italian club isnt it? Palma I think it is. Only took the job on a few months back so he has been out on the market for ages. Ranieri I think is the best Manager out there not wanted by any of the european big boys.
