Their bubble really needs bursting next week. I think both sides are similar in that each can beat anybody on their day but equally capable of losing to anyone.

Nice enough. Didn't think the atmosphere was anywhere near as good as Goodison. Their performance didn't help but even when they were still in the game I didn't hear any loud singing from them. -

Aye loved that one. Boy was I drunk that night after that. -
Not denying it. I've said the very same about Isak. I just think it may be a touch hypocritical for Everton fans to pay loving tribute to Gary now. Not saying they wished him dead of course. Long time ago but i think Gary Speed left Everton in different circumstances to Isak leaving Newcastle. Don't think he downed tools like Isak. I'm sure he simply moved on. I don't think many would want a memorial bench for Isak if he died.

Nice gesture from Everton as a club but the fans hated him when he left them. Always sang "Gary shithouse Speed" when he went back with us. https://www.evertonfc.com/news/2025/november/27/gary-speed-memorial--talking-bench--to-be-unveiled-at-hill-dickinson-stadium/

I think I can remember a brief spell when Boro were more of a rival in football terms. Was it 90s/early 2000s? Has been fierce off the pitch. Was one of the worst places you could go through the years but could never class them as our No1 local rivals. Good to beat them but I don't mind them doing well tbh. They probably don't feel the same towards us of course but hey ho. Most of the smoggies I've met, on holiday etc have been sound.

Paul Brayson is the new Blue Star boss with Gareth Mcalindon as assistant.

David Kelly v Portsmouth was possibly my favourite toon goal ever. Not a goal of the season contender by any means but the importance, the ecstasy and feeling of sheer relief of seeing that go in were absolutely massive.

"We've all shagged your wife, Speedie...Speedie!"

Was that the 4-1 loss at Derby when we finished with 8/9 men? Looked doomed to relegation to the 3rd tier for the 1st time. A defiant away support.
-
I think they have Liverpool and Man city away in the run up to the derby. Could be demoralizing hammerings. On the other hand they could be 2 spirited performances. Hard to predict this one but I believe if we play to our potential we'll be ok.
-
We'd be in denial if we didn't admit they've had a dream start but that doesn't stop me wishing they'd end up in the national league or even better cease to exist at all.

No worries. I sent him a screenshot of your post because I knew he'd be interested.

Got a mate in Worksop who goes all over with Worksop Town. He tells me they are at home to Emley on Tuesday night in the Sheffield and Hallamshire senior cup (7.45). He says Penistone or Brigg are a good shout for Wednesday in his opinion.

If it's that easy, have a go at winning it then. Or at least get past the 2nd round. Mugs!

TBF I can remember our fans singing "Mind the gap Sunderland FC" at away games but at that time there really was a gap. 2 divisions for example, not a few points that has every chance of being eroded as the season progresses. That's how they measure success though. Clutching at straws to match/ better us. Has been for years and will probably continue to be that way for eternity.

Daughter was in Costa Street when she 1st went down there. Looks like it was just around the corner from Bush Street. She had Ayresome Street at the bottom of her road.

Aye, great old ground but we always got a warm welcome. My daughter went to Teeside uni and when I dropped her off at her 1st digs they were just across the road from the old Ayresome site. All the street names of the housing estate now built there are all Boro related. Clough Close, Maddren Way etc. My memories of those chaos filled streets came flooding back.

On holiday in Salou last week. Brother in law and I took a trip to nearby Tarragona for Gimnastic de Tarragona v SD Tarazona (the ona derby). 3rd tier of Spanish football but a good day out for 15 euros to get in. Lovely little ground and about half full with 7775 in there. We baked in the heat of a noon KO and had to seek HT shade. You could also take a pint in and prices weren't extortionate like the UK. Good atmosphere too with a bloke on a microphone leading the ultras singing. Really pleased we went.

It's all a matter of personal opinion though. Personally love local hero and again, as well as "enjoy the game" it's part of match day. It's an anthem. Still popular,. Played at funerals and chosen as ringtones. Love a bit of Lindisfarne but Sam Fender does nowt for me. He's local but that's as far as it goes from my personal point of view. How dare I eh? Better get myself over where I belong on RTG . Each to their own.

I can never understand why fans applaud themselves after the announcement either. A pat on the back for turning up and being able to enjoy something loads of others can't these days.

The lack of punishment for the constant holding of Woltemade was infuriating.
