  1. Yeah was worried the crowd might get on his back after a few wayward passes and some truly awful freekicks the other night, but for an 18 year old really has come in and done well. Think he'll definitely grow in confidence as he goes on and playing/training with Tiote can only bring him on. A lot of press and fans haven't said much about our signings this past window but he's one I'm really happy we got in.
  2. We've blatantly hired Geremi back as a set-piece coach.
  3. Get Dabizas and Andy O'Brien back.
  4. Love this kid, quality player if he can stay fit.
  5. Liverpool's group is a nightmare in comparison: Udinese, Young Boys and Anhzi
  6. What the fact we have a CM replacement if Cabaye or Tiote do go? How does that make less sense?
  7. Would be surprised given the market if we'd accept anything less than £15-20m. While I'd be sad to see him go, I'd be gutted if it was Tiote instead. Hopefully we'll keep the pair.

    Season Tickets

I guess I could get it a bit cheaper, aye, but at least £75. Most times I go home for the weekend it costs nearly £120. Obviously they aren't planned for months, that's a fair point. Could probably get a train ticket for around £50-60 if you book it far enough in advance, but obviously that doesn't take into account you have to get specific trains, cancellations, late running and of course fixture changes. But yeah, being a Newcastle supporter down South sadly isn't easy.
  9. Who knows, maybe Carr's seen something everyone else has missed? Could well be in at LB or as a midfielder. Think everyone is aware our squad is a little bit smaller than we'd ideally like it, and if he's half as good as people think he'll fit the 'sell-on' mould of the players we've been signing recently.
  10. Still think Douglas will eventually move (hopefully to us), just needs to confirm his Dutch nationality so he's eligible for their national team then he'll be off.
  11. To be fair to the important players who have been left behind for fitness, they played with the majority of our squad last season, I don't think they really need to 'gel' as such. If they're not quite fit or are tired following the Euros or having the ACN last season and potentially this season then so be it. Gives the youth and backups a chance ahead of an important season for them what with rotation likely to play a much bigger part this time around.
  12. Basically if UEFA don't act over the ridiculous £400m 'sponsorship' that Man City have given themselves then the whole thing is bound to fall on its face.

    Craig Bellamy

Was a top top player for us. Injuries have plagued his career and never going to be popular due to how much he can wind everyone up, but on his day nearly unplayable.
  14. Shefki Kuqi's younger brother plays for them
  15. Remember - Liverpool fans and team are "entitled" at least they think so. Problem is, the British media think so too - who knows ? Maybe UEFA too....
  16. Has anyone seen whether this is on local radio or anything?
  17. Has realised this is all part of Ashley's masterplan. The later we leave the signing in this 'non-playing' period the less we have to pay overall in wages. By not signing a player until say a week before the season starts we've saved ourselves thousands! What a guy. Seriously though, we've not lost anyone and have got a few promising players in. Relax.

    Nicky Butt

Can't believe he made 171 appearances for us, seems crazy. Never was convinced by him for us but generally he's come across well in nearly every interview I've read. Good luck to him for any coaching roles.

    U23s & Academy

Get too easily annoyed by Twitter so many thanks for posting it here guys, great to see the young guns going so well.
  20. As long as it's not Willie McKay I'm happy.

    Papiss Cissé

I have this image of all the lads saying lets go to Cisse's room to cheer him up while he's ill and play a bit of FIFA. Cisse opens the door with pink slippers and dressing gown on and a thermometer in his mouth. Right, who's the photoshopping king round here?
  22. Second half of the season, you brought it up, I think AC wins on quantity and quality. He did have a decent end to the season, that's why I said it. You've mentioned quality and quantity of goals, what about importance? Winner in a semi-final at Wembley in a local derby, scored in the Euros. His decent end to the season was actually 3 goals in 7 games for Liverpool I think. What about his performances? He was s**** against Sweden apart from the very good header. He had a good game against Chelsea reserves in the league I remember. I don't think a few goals and 1 or 2 good performances at the end of the season are much to go on at all, regardless of the importance of them. Certainly wouldn't justify spending £10-15 million. To be fair I thought he played well in the Sweden game considering how the team was setup behind him. Think some of the criticism Ba has seemingly come under in this thread is pretty ridiculous in all honesty. Some pretty short memories in here.
  23. Probably has been said a number of times in this thread but our style of play has changed significantly since Carroll left. It's no longer Barton pumping it long to Carroll for him to flick it down and Nolan to toe-punt it in. Just not sure if he'd be able to fit in to our team without it being detrimental to our performances.
