Hoping we lose is absurd. If the fat man is going to fire Roeder, it will be based on what's already gone down, not based on the next four games. With or without Roeder and the problems we're having, take some pride in the team and hope for the best.

My only concern is not knowing whether or not he will be able to stay fit after this long layout. Let's face it, it's been years since he played first team football on a regular basis. Real Madrid kept him on the bend more times than not, and he's been injured for the past two. Personally, I think it's a risk either way. But, Roeder said he's staying, so let's hope it works out.

Ok, I haven't read all nine pages, tbh, but there is no chance in hell that Berbatov is coming to Newcastle. If the Spurs decide to sell him, he's going to Manchester United. But Tottenham will do everything in their power to keep him.

We've got Chelsea and Blackburn at home, and Reading and Watford away in our last four games, though not in that order (Chelsea, Reading, Blackburn, Watford). How many points can we reasonably get out of these four matches, do you all think? To be honest, I think we can get six points. I think Chelsea are too strong for us right now and Reading away is unlikely to result in any points. Blackburn is our last home game, and I would hope that the lads would do everything to ensure a win. Watford is doomed to relegation, so I imagine we'll get a win out of that as well.

Our new MLS team in Canada, Toronto FC, is using felt for the lettering and the logo as well, and it's caused a lot of controversy with fans. I'm not sure why a team would take that option.

I have a quick question about football culture in the North East. I'm not from Newcastle, and I've never managed to make it over there, so I only know about the football culture in the area based on what I read in these message boards, etc. My question is this: Aside from the die-hard fans from the respective cities, are there people from the North East who cheer for both Newcastle and Sunderland, or are at least happy when either wins? Thanks!

Pretty ironic coming from a bloke with Sibierski in his sig! Touchez. I think Sibs is a good man who has worked hard in his time with Newcastle and is proud to play with the club. I agree that he isn't as good as we need, but I'll cheer for him as long as he's here.

None of those players deserve to stay. They've all had their chances, and none of them are good enough.

We need to make this a poll. "Since Roeder has done such a great job, who is to truly blame for our poor form?"

If we could get two proven players (preferably a centre back and another striker) and cash in a swap for Owen, the yes, I would be for it. As of right now, he has only played a handful of games, and he is two years into his contract. No matter what happens, if Owen doesn't sign an extension, he hasn't been worth the money we paid for him. Plus, nobody knows what kind of form he'll be in when he returns and whether or not his knee will hold up, in the long run. I would take Martins in the long-term over Owen, and we need to fix problems in the rest of our squad. So, yeah, if we could guarantee good players out of the deal, then do it.

So, I guess we can add the negative-thinking people to the list of those whose fault our current form is. It's a shame that a great manager like Roeder has to deal with so many negative people, or I'm sure we'd be winning the title this year.

Tottenham away. I watched with my friend who's a Spurs fan. It was glorious.

After we won it and went as far as we did, everybody in England knows about the Intertoto Cup. If Pompey still have a chance to apply, they will. Period.

I think we can finish at 8th, especially if we can get a good result against Portsmouth on Saturday, and if Owen can come back strong. That will probably be good enough for Intertoto. Roeder isn't getting sacked either way, so to hope we don't finish in Europe just so Roeder will look bad, isn't a good way to look at it. Getting Intertoto again this year might help us get better players, so I'm hoping for it. The other thing is, if we can put a good run together and some of our players who we know we are going to sell can start to look better than mediocre, we may be able to get more for them. I just don't see the logic in hoping that we lose.

It's too bad we didn't get the three points since the teams ahead of us who were playing all had draws or loses. Those extra two points would have meant a lot towards a run for Europe next year. But at the same time, this was supposed to be a match that we were in trouble of losing all three points on, and we managed to get something out of it. Before any of us get upset over how we did today, we just have to imagine that we were Portsmouth fans, and we'll all feel better. I'm content.

Speaking of being back in training, have there been any updates on how Owen's training has been going?

There are comparatively few overseas - comapred to various red shirted scum and Chelsea. Even fewer Villa fans. Although admittedly THE best pub to watch football in the US is owned by a Villan. I watch football every Saturday at a local pub (I'm from Sudbury, Ontario, Canada). There are only ever a people of us there, but we all cheer for different teams. Newcastle, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, West Ham, Charlton, Man U, Man City, Sheffield, Liverpool are all represented. Actually, there are a couple of West Ham fans, for some reason. There's also a guy who drives around with Newcastle United vanity licence plates. I have never had a chance to run into him, though.
