  1. So, basically he's saying that everything in this history of the club prior to his taking over has sucked, including the players that are currently in the squad that he didn't sign. Nice one. I'm sure that's going to instill a lot of confidence in the players. Can someone please show him the door.
  2. Someone asked a question about Tottenham, genius. Don't understand what some people have against him. Interesting to hear things from a non-Toon fan on here. Agreed. And in the short time that I've been posting here, I've never seen Jol post anything that's been anti-Newcastle or disrespectful.
  3. I wish better decisions were made, but I love this team and I always will. I'm 0% sick of NUFC.
  4. I think if Owen can be the player that he has in the past, we strengthen our defenders, get a better attacking midfielder, another striker, a new coach, a new chairman, and we can avoid another injury crisis, we might just be able to finish in the top ten.
  5. It seems we're linked with every player out there and it never comes to pass. These are just two of many players that we'll talk about until the day before the end of the next transfer window, when Roeder will sign a couple players we had never considered on loan. Sorry about the pessimism, but I'll believe it when they're actually signed.
  6. Agreed, but I'm convinced he has proven himself and will continue to get better. I think a lot of his problem is the rest of the team and the coaching.
  7. James ---------------------- G. Neville ---- Terry --- Ferdinand --- A. Cole --------------------- Gerrard ---------------------- Lennon ----------- Rooney---------------- J. Cole ------------Owen ---------------Crouch Subs: Woodgate, Richards, Dyer, Lampard, Johnson Personally, I think Rooney is more suited to an attacking-mid role than as a striker. I don't see anything wrong with the current crop of defenders, but England need quicker, more attacking side.
  8. Martins has kept us alive. Milner has given us reason to hope.
  9. Yes, but the injuries have kept the team from playing together consistently. You can't expect the players to gel together perfectly when the squad is always changing and everyone is forced to play out of position. Roeder is right to say that the injuries have hurt us this year.

    England

On the brightside, Dyer can't come on in the dying minutes and get injured.

    England

I don't think England even want to qualify, based on this performance. I think we're looking at another heartbreak.
  12. Since 2001 bar us twice and Everton once no other team other than the 'the big 4' have qualifyied for the CL. Good point. And the sad thing is that when Everton qualified, Liverpool still got in as well.
  13. It goes deeper than just the money. Even if we had the money to sign the best of the best, those players want to play in the Champions League, and we can't guarantee them that. But, with that said, I don't think that a 4th place finish is out of the question for a lot of teams. Winning the EPL is just out of the question for anyone who isn't Man U, Chelsea and maybe Arsenal and Liverpool.
  14. Anything bad I had to say about the new kit has been made moot by the awful training range. Would someone actually buy that sleevless shirt?
  15. So, did they just photoshop a fake shirt on to a stock photo of Owen? I imagine that this is a one year kit because the sponsor must be due to change next year.
  16. I have two major problems with Roeder: 1. He has no mind for tactics. 2. He promised the fans he would bring in players in the transfer windows and both times he disappointed and made excuses. He was good as a care taker last season, but we need a proper manager with a history of success.
  17. If Milner doesn't get a new contract, I will have lost all faith in the direction of this club. The rest can go. I like Sibs, but I agree that he doesn't bring a lot to the club. I'd be content if he stays or if he goes.
  18. I lived in David Edgar's hometown here in Canada. He's an absolute hero over here. When he scored that goal against Man United, people couldn't stop talking about it. I truly hope he doesn't go somewhere else next year. I really can't see Roeder not resigning him though, and all indications are that he's happy at Newcastle.
  19. I'm hoping for Brazilian star Fred. Not because I think we need him or because I think he'll come. I just want a shirt that says "Fred" on the back.
  20. I agree that Edgar should be getting more of a chance (and not just because he's a fellow Canadian). We had a good run in the middle, when we had our young players out there, so they should all be getting more of a chance. I'm glad to see this thread, because I don't share everyone's pesimism over the future of our club. I think that we need a few key signings and we'll be fine. For instance, I think we need a true leader who is respected and can create more cohesion on the pitch, and we need a more physically dominant striker. I disagree that we don't have good players out there. I think we're weak in a few areas, but are mostly missing that intangible element. Also, I really enjoy watching Duff flap his arms around in disbelief when nobody passes the ball to him. That's been very entertaining.
  21. What the..where is the mcewan's lager shirt? I have it hangin' up like 3 metres to my right surely i can't be imagining it? It's listed as the "alternate logo" for 1991-93 and 1993-95. So you're not crazy.
  22. You can see already that it's not exactly the same as this. The arms aren't multi-coloured on the one Owen's wearing. But, yeah, it won't look much different than that. I'm mostly interested in what the sponsor logo is going to look like.
  23. Let us never speak of this again.
  24. I would add Milner to that list. He's worked hard and has been a bright spot on the squad this year. I'm also in the camp that says Roeder has got to go, and it has to be sooner than later. We need an experienced mananger who has a better grasp of tactics.
