Owen out for 10 days - Thigh Strain in training.
Quailman replied to Dragon55544's topic in Football
Just a thigh strain... I'm glad it happened now rather than at the start of the season. We have time to give martins and shola a run out together and also give andy carole a shot. -
One for the future, not now..

Good stuff - one of our better players last season - not saying much. But Milner came through for us, deserves a new contract... even if he won't make the starting XI, come August...
-
I'd be happy with Shorey or Baines - both are better than we have at the moment. Bridge is not going to happen, even though I would take him over the other 2. Both Shorey and Baines had good seasons, but I still wouldn't know who is the more consistent.

Dave, as a site owner myself I know how expensive it can be to get better servers. This site is really good and I love talking to all the other Newcastle supporters across the globe. I would definitely donate if this thing kicks off - however, I don't agree with 'A donation could be of any value, and all would be anonymous. Nobody would gain preferential treatment by donating, or vice-versa.' I think people who donate should have some sort of extra title or privilege. It may not be much, but at least it makes those that are dedicated to this site stand out. I'm sure everyone appreciates what you and your moderators have done for the supporters of Newcastle United, I know I do... anyway, I browse the forums during work - takes my mind off it!

I went to school with Gabby, not someone I want to be playing for the team I support! We can do better!

I was actually surprised when reading the arsenal forums about martins - most see him as a good player who could add something to the starting XI, but a lot want him on the left wing - I giggled! As for Owen, I hate all the pessimism surrounding him - he has clearly declared next season to Newcastle United through talking to Big Sam. Owen when injury free is a world class player IMO and we could greatly benefit from having him in a Newcastle United shirt - lest we forget, big names draw in other big names. I don't care if he hasn't come out and said anything about his future... I believe he will stay and I don't care if you quote me on that if he leaves for £500,000 to Cardiff City!

Ruud Guillet! That would shock the world!
-
I rate Edmilson, however, Oliver is a muppet! I wonder if he checks this forum and reads up on how we perceive his outstanding talent for missing the mark on so many occasions!?
-
The last trophy signing we signed was Michael Owen, well that's turned out brilliantly! We need to rebuild the side from scratch almost - certainly the defence. Once everything is in place then sure a trophy signing would be nice, but I don't think we will get one till next summer.

Got into the french league XI team, captain of his club - good enough for us IMO... better than what we have!
-
Good stuff - a man that knows his business and knows how to 'cut throats' to get something done. The perfect man to oversea things in the top tier of Newcastle Uniteds hierarchy. He will no doubt pick things up early - we will have to wait and see...

It didn't really surprise me that Dein turned us down. He has a vested interest in Arsenal and he has helped build them into the top 4 team they are today - even if they will probably be replaced with spurs this year. Ashley had hopes because they are neighbours, but let's hope that Dein gives Ashley some decent advise. It's all we can hope for now... Arsenal need to do something drastic and I don't think they can do what's necessary without Dein.

I agree, if Owen wants to leave then he should come out and say it so that we can get a worthy replacement - no not smith! Although, if Ameobi is going.. get Smith in! Owen knows that he owes us at least another season and that hasn't been wiped off because of the compensation. Sure you could say that Owen owed us because of the money we have spent on him over the last two years, but I think the thing that would be clear in his mind is that he still owes us for the lack of his player abilities. You never now what would of happened if we had Owen for 2 full seasons, we would probably be in Europe next season! He owes us another season so we can enjoy watching him play for us! That's it plain and simple! I wouldn't want Owen to go, because inside i'm still excited at the prospect of Michael Owen playing for Newcastle United! The only thing getting on my nerves is this damn speculation that has been circulating for a few months! Come the start of the friendlies I think we will know for sure...

Exciting news, saw it myself on SSN - David Dein surely is now be coming to Newcastle!
-
IMO anything that was good enough for Man Ure will be good enough for us at the moment! We will have to see who was right if the deal gets sorted!
-
Right now I'd say Taylor and lets hope he matures with age and stops making rash mistakes when not necessary - through gaining experience obviously

11th June - things change!

I for one believe it's true. Newspapers certainly aren't a reliable source and it's really out of the blue and I would have thought it would have leaked from the other clubs involved. However, it has been in a few newspapers, on SSN and now on Five Live... well that tells me that this is closer to the truth that most think. My opinion of Smith has varied over the years, just like his form, but as of right now I would certainly welcome him into the Newcastle outfit. He is versatile and has determination to burn! He is a player that goes out for the win at all costs and that's what we have been lacking for quite a few years! You never know, it could rub off onto other players. Big Sam can keep players like Smith and Barton in place and tune them up to really show what they're worth. He will be coming as a Midfield/Support Striker IMO and is exactly what we need if we are uncertain about the futures of certain players at our club. He was absolutely outstanding for Man Ure in the centre of midfield when Keane left, before Risse f***** up his leg. But a player that young and with his determination leaves no doubt in my mind that he could do the job for Newcastle Utd! Let's hope it's true though... we will no doubt find out more tomorrow!

Not in a million years!

He's going to stay, along with Martins and with Smith as an addition from Man Ure with the versatility of midfield aswell things are looking on the up and up!
