It is, as I keep on saying, all happening quietly in the background. With the 'quality' of buyers we have, and this has now been added to by the 'quality' of the legal teams they have assembled, then it seems totally illogical to think that we could possibly even come close to failing to be taken over by the Consortium. IT'S HAPPENING . . . we just have to WAIT.

Clearly a man of taste. Bet he gets it from Di Meo's down Whitley. Probably explains his motivation for the takeover. The guy who knocked off the Seaton Delaval Ice Cream place? I wouldn’t even give him the satisfaction of going there. By the way, it’s not the same. For what it is worth, AS is very much still involved and at the forefront of the takeover. Good news, good information. Thanks.

The current life expectancy for men is 79.5 years old in the UK, while women can be expected to live to an average of 82.5 years old. Not Newcastle fans it’s not! An amusing comment, but Newcastle United fans are no different to anyone else. We perhaps 'live even longer' than average, as we know we have to keep on waiting . . and waiting . . and waiting !!!!

Thought this post would have created more of a frenzy. This lad doesn’t get a team selection wrong does he ? I think it's just indicative of how lethargic everyone is about the whole thing. I'm not sure many people have the energy left to get excited about rumours. People are just sick of hearing things that could mean something only for it to end up meaning absolutely nothing. 7 months of that and now people hardly take any notice. Some people . . . only SOME people.

I'm here too. I don't think what Luke Edwards has posted on here under his most recent guise is particularly wrong like. There's a small chance some meaningful progress is being made in the background but we've yet to see any real evidence of that outside of a few ITK's passing on what they've heard with the best of intentions. I think anyone believing that this deal is anywhere near being concluded is deluding themselves though. Not sure how you know that, as we are all 'hearing nothing', which is how it should be. The deal is just as likely to be agreed tomorrow as it is in December or March. The news, when it comes, will come out-of-the-blue. Or it wont come at all, which is by far the most likely scenario given how its played out so far. The final news most definitely will come. Whether it is 'positive' or 'negative' final news, no-one knows!

To be fair I don't think he was trying to be inconspicuous. What he said is right though, the consortium have publicly announced they are no longer interested. If they were interested again, they could say so. That they haven't should be a wake up call to some in here. PIF have announced they are no longer interested not "the consortium." Can anyone think of a reason why Ashley would engage a QC who specialises in International public law if PIF weren't still involved? I can't. PIF only made a public statement, and (at the time) I certainly understood why!! Sheer 'exasperation'. PIF have never said they have withdrawn from the Consortium (the consortium would have told us about that if it had happened) neither have they (or anyone else) officially informed the Premier League that the bid has been withdrawn. it is all still moving along, as it always should have been, quietly. Like most people, I fear - after a long period of quiet - that it is 'off' and I constantly want to hear news (even 'informed leaks') but in reality it is far, far, far better without leaks. All we have to do is . . . WAIT.
-
Does this mean that the Saudi interest is still there? Hope so mind you the ambassador could just be a mag!! The Saudi interest has never wavered, never gone away, all three members of the consortium appear to be working together "quietly without leaks" just like it always should have been. All we can do is wait.

Wooo. Big statement there by Mimms. Let's see how the week develops. If true, legendary status for you Mimms. Yes, it really sounds like we are entering the final stages. I have always known that things were "happening quietly in the background" and I got called worse-than-shite for keeping on saying that, as I had no inside knowledge, just common sense plus an understanding of the calibre of the people involved. However, now that things may well be coming to fruition, I feel quite "shocked" by it . . how perverse is that !!! However, 'shocked' in a very nice way . (If Mimms is right, that is . . . )

Fucking Hell man I love your optimism but you are like King Canute After all that's been said in the last 12 hours or so, financially unviable, walking away, victory for the oppressed it would be a bigger shitstorm if the PL now approve. They will look like they've been played and had their hands forced (or cut off) by the Saudi bullies It can't happen now imo The Consortium have blown the lid off this and fans are about to fight back. Maybe not on here, but other avenues. They’ll fight for it, they’ll fight the PL and I think a few of the journos will get behind them now it’s close season as what else is there to do, but most importantly the government will have their say at some point and masters will find out he’s not appreciated and not the all powerful person he thinks he is. If the pl are yet to have a formal withdrawal, and the consortium and Ashley are still willing to do the deal, then this is just pressure play, but they’ve gone all in from the off to inflict maximum impact. Pl aren’t going to be allowed to just walk away from this. I was pretty much the only one saying it was still on the days after it was called off. But things change. It seemed that I was the only one saying it was still on, a lot of the time then, the amount of stick I was getting for keeping on saying it.

Could be coincidence. Could be significant. Could be VERY significant. I'll go with the latter Could be coincidence. Could be significant. Could be VERY significant. I'll go with the latter Course you will You? It’s interesting but could mean nothing at all. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/jamie-reuben-quits-qpr-what-19158075 Welcome to the third edition of the Black & White bulletin, our weekly look at NUFC matters. Some late, intriguing news on the NUFC takeover front as Jamie Reuben quits QPR. What Jamie Reuben's resignation likely means for NUFC takeover. So here we are again, back watching Companies House searching for clues as to what comes next in the long-running Newcastle takeover saga. Jamie Reuben resigning his QPR board role first came to light through a notification on Friday night, with no word from Rangers or the man himself. It came as a surprise to those close to him, and was the first sign of something concrete from any of those involved in the deal for weeks. Sources were playing down any direct connection between this move and the takeover on Friday night. Reuben, though, remains keen to be part of this takeover. Nothing has changed since the statement issued by the Reubens back in the summer. And what we do know is that work remains ongoing in the background on the takeover that all parties are still keen to complete. Saudi noses were certainly put out of joint, to the extent that PIF only want to be re-engaged when a definite conclusion is close. But the enthusiasm for owning the club survives, even if a sense of being hard done-by clings to those involved. What we don't have - yet - is a public timeline for it, or any sign of the Premier League relenting on the key point surrounding disagreements over who would ultimately control the club. That's why there is legal action ongoing. The Reuben morsel is a tasty one. His resignation from his QPR board role was something that needed to happen for him to join the board of a Newcastle United that was under new management. The son of David Reuben, one of the UK's richest men, was understood to be enthused about the prospect of getting stuck into the black and white project and was brimming with ideas to improve the club on and off the pitch. He tweeted his heartbreak at the deal falling through in July and it later emerged he had been donating to the Foodbank, on the quiet, as the takeover process continued. Many close to the process - and several independent observers - believe there will be more noise around the deal in the coming weeks and this is a convenient jump off point. Reuben would now be free to join any reconstituted board but we still seem a way off that. Not that it will stop the Companies House watchers. As part of the machinations of the summer, a shell company called JV1 Limited was set up to take the 20% of shares in Newcastle that the Reubens and Amanda Staveley would have in United. Two long-serving Reuben employees Stephane Nayum and Mehmet Saydam were both named as directors alongside Staveley. Reuben - who was to be involved in day-to-day Newcastle affairs - was not named. Perhaps if there is movement there, we can start to look at the final boxes being ticked in this long-overdue deal.

This is dead and gone. From the minute it started it was dead and gone. It was dreamt up by a bunch of low-life idiots. Why are we still discussing this on this thread, at all? (Yes, I know I have just posted on this thread too)

Your swing from one extreme to the other has been quite impressive. You were so positive and convinced it was going to happen mid may, and now you are so negative and convinced that Bruce is safe and he knows what's happening. Bruce always says what he WANTS to happen and what he HOPES will happen, and he 'says' it as if it "is happening". He doesn't know anything, I mean, WHO would tell him?
