I like this . . .

Closer to what? I’m not going to be tedious and claim to be ‘in the know’, but I’m relatively confident this takeover will happen. Maybe not this week as others have suggested, but certainly within the next two. So where's the confidence coming from then? Positive noise, really. I may be proven completely wrong, but I’m more confident now then I have been through the whole takeover period. Happy to hold my hands up and say my ‘confidence’ is shit in a couple of weeks if it’s proven to be, but hopefully I’ll be right. Ask manorpark[/member] where the positive thoughts get you. Positive thinking (reality, as I always felt it was) will prove to be correct in the end. My goodness though . . it is taking its time happening!!

Excellent, I know how strongly you feel about these issues and your enthusiasm, abilities and common sense would be very useful on the NUST Council. Good Luck.

Others may disagree, but I think that is an excellent letter, and (at last) someone has stopped "pussyfooting around" these EPL London and Top Six obsessed ("we are invulnerable") types. He will need to follow it up with the actual legal action of course, and if he needs financial assistance to do so, I'm sure that we and/or NUST, will be able to help him. I really enjoyed reading that letter !! I hope that NUST can support this letter?

The nda ended when they pulled out surely. Why would anyone involved in this deal agree to an NDA with such an end date? It probably lasts for 2 years I imagine. However, any "NDA terms" if there are any, can be cancelled if all participants agree, ie PIF/Staveley/Reubens/Ashley - so the Premier League can have no reason to cling on the 'NDA idea' if none of those involved deem it necessary?

So true. Hope so. Our best chance to achieve things.

3000 new members in last 24 hours. Great stuff. Together we can be strong.

Except that, of course, if we don't do anything then there is no chance of avoiding disappointment, but if we support NUST then we are at least in with a chance. The old "you need to be in it to win it" philosophy, which is so true!

Greg, these are my ideas: 1. Ask the CMA to investigate anti-competitive behaviour by the PL and member clubs in colluding to prevent the takeover. 2. Create a stock email that members from throughout the UK asking them to support Chi’s correspondence with Masters and to support an investigation into the PL by the CMA 3. Actively engage Alok Sharma, Ed Milliband and Lucy Powell to persuade them to push the CMA to investigate the PL. be sure to point out that this issue creates a precedent which has ramifications for 90 other clubs, not just our own 4. Through the FSA engage with other supporter groups. Remind them of times that NUFC fans have helped out their clubs and then ask club groups to engage their own clubs to tell them that interfering in another club’s takeover is not cool. 5. Ask the PL whether they have investigated the information provided to them by C4 about Everton not disclosing Usmanov’s involvement in their takeover. 6. Engage with the Chronicle to run some highly negative stories on the PL on their front page. 7. Draw up a long list of ex-players in terms of their national stature and invite them to become involved in NUST and get involved in the critique of the PL. 8. Need some sort of responsible protest. A front door boo for the PL throughout Newcastle maybe? 9. Accept that moving forward it is going to be hard to run protests and constructively engage with PL and NUFC. Choose which you want to be an open the door for a non-affiliated group to take the other role. Excellent constructive feedback. I'll add them to the list. I’ve edited them slightly as a few typos and wasn’t clear on a couple of bits. Great points there. We have never needed NUST more than we do now, I am proud to be a member.

Been going to Newcastle United games since the 1968/1969 Season. Got my first Season Ticket for the 1969/1970 Season (the very first season I could afford one) and got called a "glory hunter" for doing that, because we had just won the Fairs Cup the previous season. Gave up my Season Ticket after Keegan left the second time, as I knew we were becoming a "nothing club" in most peoples eyes, under Ashley. Despite not having a Season Ticket I have maintained my interest and enthusiasm for NUFC, which is why I was one of the 'optimistic ones' (that I called the 'realistic ones' / the "Manorparkians") over on the Takeover Thread. NOW, for the first time in my life, since I was old enough to form a rational thought, I am giving up NUFC completely . . because there is simply NO POINT AT ALL in wasting my life on them any more. This was their chance, and it has gone . . so I am gone too. Very sad.

Correct, so please stop posting rubbish until the decision has been made. You could always just not bother reading his posts or just block him altogether, I really don't get peoples negative attitude to a positive thinker, 13 years of Ashley has had a bigger impact on our support than anyone can imagine. Thankyou. And thankyou "a random player etc", I have never posted "rubbish" anywhere at anytime in my life, just because I turned out to be wrong doesn't make it rubbish (as you already know, I'm sure). Yes, I am positive because I know we have been sold (don't you?) and that the necessary Admin Approval to this will be given shortly. I know, in my bones, that this great club of ours is about to escape from its 13 year jail sentence, and will become great again . . . and even greater. It will become FUN to support, once again!

I've just come in and read the last ten pages or so, so I have obtained a kind of "overall understanding" of what has been said. (1) There is no evidence at all that Ashley is now trying to stop the deal, neither is there evidence that he 'could', even if he wanted to (without huge financial losses). (2) The only thing that seems clear is that strong sources say we will "hear this week". (3) Now, I know that after my "27th July" forecast, my reputation is not at its highest, but I have NEVER thought that the bid would not succeed, and there is nothing in these last ten pages of 'dire worry' to change my mind. So . . . (4) It looks like we may get our new owners this week. Come on people - HAVE FAITH !!

I would probably still pick Saudis ahead of most others tbh. If they're good enough partners for our govt, Amanda and the Reuben bros, they are good enough for me. These journalists would be better off investigating which clubs are actively pulling Masters strings to prevent this and also what extent Bein are medalling behind the scenes. Exactly!

aaah yes like we did with south africa during apartheid You can pick many examples from any of the 'big old countries', certainly a few from us in the UK, but that is history, it is not how it would work in the modern world. Why would you choose to seek out examples from the long past, just to try and make some point. Why?
