  1. Yes, I agree, it would be pointless if the PL did this in isolation. It would be in the interests of ALL the main leagues to align their transfer windows.

I've never quite been able to imagine the 3rd Division / 3rd Tier, as being called "League 1" . . it just sounds odd !!
  3. The latest talk (on Sky Sports News) is that the Transfer Window will run for three months from August to October this year. So, as long as we have our new Manager in by then (before then) to make the right decisions and attract the right players, I don't care if Bruce is here until the end of the current season as even he can't get us relegated . . . . surely?
  4. How sweet it will be when we WIN and the Takeover goes through. There will be a long list of sad b**tards who have tried to interfere with our great club's future, many of them have tried for VERY dubious and VERY hidden-from-view reasons, who will be weeping and wailing about it. Except most of them (with obvious exceptions) will not be 'weeping', as they don't really care less, they just wanted to 'interfere' and make sure we remain in our place. That is true . . that IS what it often is, in the real world.
  5. Everything is subject to law. If the PIF/PCP/RB consortium don't agree with the Premier Leagues 'reasonable opinion' decision based on the evidence provided then I will be very surprised if they don't take it to court (after the appeal process has played out). Of course everything is subject to law. That doesn’t mean you can sue a corporation because they won’t let you join according to their properly constituted rules and by-laws. If they don't agree with the decision then of course they can take them to court. It happens all the time in business and industry across the world. You believe what you want to though. No need for the condescension - especially when you’ve made no attempt whatsoever to actually answer the question initially posed: on what basis do people think the consortium can sue the PL if the takeover is denied. As you so eloquently and intelligently said, everything is subject to law. So on what basis, in law, would the consortium have to sue the PL if they fail the O&D test? And even though you’re being a dick, I’ll give you a start. One basis might be that the consortium would sue on the grounds that the O&D test wasn’t properly applied - but that is a lunatic case, legally. The rules are malleable and it’s a great big “if”. So I don’t buy it. So, again, on what basis could the consortium sue the PL? Wasn't being condescending at all if that's your opinions and thoughts then so be it. I already answered the question, they could go to court due to the Premier League decision, being in their opinion incorrect, based on the evidence provided. Whether that's based on the responsibility for the piracy, PIF being a separate legal entity or even something else. It would then be up to the court to decide if the decision based on the evidence provided was correct. As I said before, it happens all across the world daily. If the decision goes against them, the entire consortium will sue the Premier League for the reasons Godzilla lists, and probably a few more reasons. That is why there is not a "cat in hell's chance" of this bid being rejected, in my opinion. The PL are just trying to 'squeeze' as much out of the consortium (assurances re alleged piracy, etc, etc) before announcing the approval. In my opinion, that is!
  6. As I said earlier, irrespective of all this, it remains true that 'ostracising' a country - as many of the people who dislike the Saudi Government keep on advocating, by wanting our takeover stopped - you make things for that country, the people of that country, for the world in general, SO MUCH WORSE. I wish people would work that out for themselves and stop doing it and saying it. We must, must, must, work with Governments and countries like that, to bring them (eventually) into the fold of civilised countries. We must do that.

  8. We have never been anywhere near "this stage" in any proposed takeover in the past. I don't know when any announcement will be made, I have no idea at all . . . but I am certain that it will be worth the wait! We never had an official 'end' to the BZG takeover Honestly man if people think this is 'another fakeover' give your heads a shake man Yes indeed, we have NEVER been anywhere like this before. Just "relax" people and then "imagine" just how great it is going to be soon. OOPS, end of 'relax' !!!!

  10. It is odd how these things keep on getting repeated, long after they have been de-bunked. As Stifleaay says, the Saudies have confirmed they own the rights to show those matches.
  11. . Here is another (more recent) article about us in "Forbes Middle East" . . . https://www.forbesmiddleeast.com/lifestyle/sports/how-do-european-football-clubs-perform-under-arab-ownership
  12. Still heading North West. Geneva ? Farnborough ? Ponteland ? How about NEWCASTLE ?
  13. Next season is the last season on the BeIN contract. The bidding process is due to start layers this year/early next year. They are rumoured to be changing their name to BeOUT.
  14. WTO have commented . . . “We can confirm that Qatar initiated a WTO dispute settlement case against Saudi Arabia in October 2018 regarding the protection of intellectual property rights and that a panel was established in December 2018 to review Qatar’s claims. The panel proceedings and panel process remain confidential until the final report is circulated to WTO members.”
  15. I always remember Keys on a prime-time evening, weekly Sky programme called "The Footballers Football Show", where there were footballer guests and a studio audience, after NUFC had done something, or bought someone (can't remember what) Keys said (with belief) "Are Newcastle United now the biggest football club in the land, even bigger than Manchester United". He has sunk since then !!
  16. E-Mail received from NUST today (25th May 2020) . . . RESPONSE TO MEDIA SMEARS AGAINST FANS AND MEMBERS Dear member, Many of you will have noticed that some sections of the football media have continued to attack Newcastle United fans and the members of the NUST since news broke of the proposed takeover of Newcastle United by Amanda Staveley’s consortium. As a board we have been inundated with media requests from around the world to talk about the takeover and have done our best (we have all still been working in our day jobs during the lockdown) to respond in good faith to journalists wanting to know the Trusts position on the takeover. Like everything with the Trust – you, the members, dictate our position. We have consistently relayed the following messages 96.7% of Trust members who completed our takeover survey (15.04.20) said they were in favour of this proposed takeover A minority of positive respondents to the takeover members commented that they both supported the takeover and had concerns and questions about the potential new owners The Trust has only ever judged the owner of Newcastle United on his record running Newcastle United. Outside factors are not an issue for the Trust Even assuming for a moment fans of Newcastle United were against this takeover (rather than the vast, vast majority of fans supporting it) football fans do not get asked about the buying or selling of their club. We weren’t asked about Mike Ashley buying the club in 2007 and haven’t been consulted now. Therefore it is unfair to demand football fans to rise up and block things over which they have no control. There are lots of people that could influence who owns clubs and the buying and selling of clubs. I cannot understand why fans are being targeted instead of FIFA UEFA The FA The Premier League The UK Government Mike Ashley Key partners of the game in England like the BBC, BT Sport, Sky Sports The listed institutions above seem to be happy with the way the English game is run. They have the power to make a difference. Newcastle United fans have been mocked for years for attempts to remove the current owner by some of the same people in the media demanding that we now ‘take action.’ As a board there isn’t a media request we haven’t tried to make and in the main the conversations have been respectful. Even if there is a disagreement about this proposed takeover, there can still be civility and respect between the fans and journalists. No one should be abused privately and publicly for expressing doubts about the takeover of a football club. That respect and civility has to work both ways though. The board of the Trust were dismayed to read an article in the New Statesmen by respected and awarded winning sports journalist Jonathon Liew. The general tone of the article was, in our opinion, offensive toward the vast majority of Newcastle United supporters. From a Trust perspective we were appalled to read the following line in Mr Liew’s piece: ‘Asked whether they would be in favour of their club being purchased by a state culpable for numerous human rights abuses and accused of a litany of war crimes in Yemen, 97 per cent of respondents to a survey by the Newcastle United Supporters Trust said they would.’ We will not allow our members to be defamed in this manner. As you will be aware the question in our survey was ‘Would you approve of a takeover of Newcastle United via the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, the Reuben Brothers and Amanda Staveley as is widely reported in the media?’. We have emailed the New Statesmen the following on the matter: Sadly, at the time of writing, we have yet to receive a response from the New Statesmen. The article remains on their website in the original form and has gone into the print version of their magazine (page 40). There are many other troubling aspects of Mr Liew’s article and we understand why Newcastle United supporters are deeply unhappy with it. It was heartening to see some positive, robust responses on social media that didn’t resort to abuse. Despite our objection to the article no journalist, activist or fan deserves abuse for their point of view. However it is important that football fans are able to stand up for themselves. Sadly many professionals paid to write and speak about the game have viewed Newcastle United supporters as easy targets to ridicule. We will be pursuing this with the New Statesmen in the aim of receiving an apology for you, the members. What they have published is unfair and untrue. We will update members when we can on what happens next. As a board it is essential that the Trust speaks out for Newcastle United Supporters. We have conducted the following interviews since details of a deposit paid for the purchase of the club. We will continue to ensure the positive views of members about this takeover are hear: The Chronicle Forbes Magazine Independent Independent #2 Guardian The WSJ BBC The Athletic Radio 5 Live ITV Thank you for reading. There has always been a slight problem getting major players to come to "The North East" . . but that same problem never seems to apply to getting people to "come to Newcastle". Our famous name has always meant people love to come here, and I am NOT specifically talking about football, but that certainly does apply in football. We often get casually lumped in with (say) Middlesbrough and Sunderland when this issue is discussed by THEM, even though it obviously does not apply to Newcastle or to Newcastle United.
  18. Meaningless, but Sunderland supporters adopted a "Haway" chant, just to be different from us. Who cares about them? But that's why it has happened.

Despite the magnificent, fantastic, 1 9 6 9 . . . https://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=2177948 Is the book by Gibson and them any good? Seen it advertised, but not picked it up. On the above link, "Post No. 9" of that Skyscraper City Thread lists and shows details of all the "Fairs Cup Win" books. Sorry, not sure which one you mean by the 'Gibson & them' one?

  21. I live about four miles away from the airport, but we aren't on the flightpath, so we never get planes directly overhead. In the middle of the night I was woken up by a very LOUD plane flying directly overhead, never heard anything like that here before. So I immediately thought (still 95% asleep) "that's them, the Saudis, flying in from a different direction from normal planes" and then I went straight back to sleep. It may all have been a dream of course, but in the morning I felt it was real !!! (how 'wound up' into all this, am I . . .. ) There's only two ways to land a plane at Newcastle. Straight in from Whitley Bay area, straight in from Hexham area. Anything else would end in disaster. Unless the Saudi private planes are like Harrier jump jets. Maybe you heard the Northumbria Police Ghetto Bird tracking some villains ? Or a military jet. get occasional Tornado's and Typhoons flying around at low levels. Takes what about 2 minutes to get to Leeming when you're doing 7-800mph? Or, it is just possible that I dreamt the whole thing, as it is so much on my mind. After this happens I will need a long uninterupted wank (about a MONTH) I think !! FTFY THANKYOOO !!

If the Sunderland Football Club does fold / go out of business, there could be an even lower league 're-birth' for a brand new club, to replace them. It would be so much better if that new club were to be based in the City of DURHAM. rather than in Sunderland. I quite like the idea of a "Durham City FC" to replace them. They could even be adopted by us and become one of our 'feeder clubs'. Happy Days !!! Durham City already exists Yes I know but it's the 'spirit' of the idea I mean. A new club designed to move (a little way) up the leagues to replace Sunderland. The usual way around pre-existing names is (something like) "AFC Durham" or whatever . . .
