  1. Hull 0 - 1 Wigan Own goal from Ricketts
  2. Yeah, I think I heard him mentioned in this thread http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=55534.0
  3. 1. Arsenal 2. Aston Villa 3. Blackburn Rovers 4. Brighton & Hove Albion/Manchester City 5. Burnley 6. Cardiff City 7. Chelsea 8. Crewe Alexandra 9. Derby County 10. Everton 11. Fulham 12. Hartlepool United 13. Ipswich Town 14. Leeds United 15. Liverpool 16. Manchester United 17. Middlesbrough 18. Newcastle United 19. Northampton Town 20. Portsmouth 21. Queens Park Rangers 22. Reading 23. Rotherham United 24. Sheffield United 25. Southampton 26. Stoke City 27. Sunderland 28. Swansea City 29. Tottenham Hotspur 30. Watford 31. West Ham United 32. Wigan Athletic Here are the teams in the bag for the noon draw today. Any matches you're hoping for in particular? A home draw against Hartlepool would do me nicely.
  4. This is from the Uruguayan El Pais, not the Spanish paper of the same name. Not sure what that means about its trustworthiness. So it is. Hmmm, it's still from El Pais the Spanish based paper so I guess it doesn't make any difference. Good spot that
  5. Hmmm, says that he's passed a medical but it has been verbally agreed that he'll come to us for a loan spell as Valencia are happy with their clubs depth at this moment. El Pais is a reliable source, so I'm inclined to believe this. It's the paper I read when I'm in Spain EDIT It's a year long loan, couldn't find that bit before.
  6. We'll lose 2-0 I think but it's not a game you're expected to win really. As McClaren would say: Arsenal... The Emirates.. We are not what you call, underdogs.. but massive underdogs! Nah, as long as we put in a good performance today I'll be content. The best I'm hoping for today is an easy home draw for the Carling Cup. If it looks like we're struggling due to the team being stretched from injuries and depth then hopefully it'll be sorted for Hull.
  7. They still sell it in the club shop to my knowledge. About £24 I think.

    Gooch

Well that brought back memories of playing a frustrating game way too much as a kid. Nealy as bad as that Rise of the Robots or whatever it was.
  9. That article cleared nothing up for me at all. Either he wants to sign or doesn't. Can't be doing with him already.
  10. Geremi is injured apparently. Looking a bit thin in the midfield isn't it.
  11. On loan? Can't wait to see this blown out of the water.
  12. Since it's away from home Keegan will most probably play one upfront with an attacking mid playing just behind like at ManUtd.
  13. Reportedly yeah, but only because it was done behind his back and the first he heard of it was when Corluka was down there discussing personal terms. How much truth there is in the rumours though, who knows?
  14. Alot of English players in Villas first team. Most in premiership perhaps?
  15. I reckon he'll be in the Bassong mould and get a few lower profile games for us first of all. If he seems good in training I've got no problem, get the lad in.
  16. So it's off, or just delayed? How has he played over in Germany out of interest?
  17. Cheers for that, billy-no-points.
  18. Why Villa? They heard that a player they wanted was officaly put on the transfer list by his club due to his request and signed him, they've done nothing wrong imo. They blatantly tapped him up. Chances are his agent informed Villa of his availability.

    The return of Lawro

I reckon we'll lose 2-0 to Arsenal, if we win it's nailed on we'll lose to Hull or another relegation candidate.. we'll say Tottenham
  20. Oh my god - "B I D S" . . . (or even more accurately - "reported bids"). How many times does THAT need to be pointed out? Fine then, lets look at facts. Coloccini for a reported 9m going up to 10.3m - also reported to have signed the 'contract of his life'. True, the Modric bid (I'll forget the Aimer & Inler ones because as Dave said, could be wrong) was made before any players were sold. In the end the deal didn't come off but it shows that the money is there for players of the right calibre. Gutierrez had an original asking price of 10m but we got around the via a loophole, but I imagine we still had to pay a few to get him in. There's a difference between 'selling to buy' and simply getting rid of players that are no good for us. How do you know (or 'imagine') that a Coloccini purchase would have been funded, if we had got (say) Modric? Also, I don't think Keegan would agree with any of you "Milner haters" on here ("no good for us" !!!!) I don't agree with you either. I also asked if you thought it would just be a 'mere coincidence' if Ashley actually spends some money RIGHT NOW? Well? I'd rather we spent money now than didn't spend any just to prove you and your ridiculous theory wrong. There have been reports of us going for specific players all summer, with either agents or players themselves saying about interest - some I'll take with a pinch of salt but I wouldn't be surprised if some had truth in them. I honestly don't think that the club has been sat about hoping for the likes of James Milner to be sold just so we can buy some players. Coloccini negotiations were started 3 months before he signed and Modric nearly signed in May I believe. Ashley has come out and said how he feels about the club but you clearly haven't read it or decided to simply disregard it because it doesn't fit in with your opinion. Keegan has said about the type of players we want - need even. It's the easiest thing in the world to go out and splash £10m here and there for players, that's how we ended up with Luque and Boumsong. I'm curious where you got the 'Milner Hater' thing from as I've never really slagged him off or wanted him out. I do think that £12m is way too good to turn down though assuming he can be replaced. For a player his age and with his experience he just hasn't moved up the level required for me, he has little pace struggles to cross. I think we can get better and hope we do. Wasn't meaning specifically YOU by the 'Milner Hater' thing - sorry if it read like that. There are a LOT on here who are though! You do make a fair few 'broad brush' statements about my opinions and how I form them. None of them are true, by the way. I am simply observing a disjointed organisation, failing to 'achieve' in the manner that it should be capable of achieving. Naturally (as this organisation is one that I personally care about) I am WORRIED. Fair play about the Milner craic - same with any of our players I guess. Some go too far, you're right there. On the topic of a disjointed organisation, you could seriously be talking about any premiership club outside of the top 4 really. Tottenham, City and Villa are the only teams that have really strengthened but all of their fans are still dropping bricks - Spurs, especially. I'd much rather we'd have done alot more to improve the first team squad but I think the issue is less with having no money to spend and simply just not being able to get the type of quality that we're after through the doors which is somewhat understandable given the last few seasons of managers, finishes and performances in general. On the whole though, I am happy. We've gotten rid of players that never played or reached their potential - like Carr, Emre and Ramage and replaced them with players that have already shown a marked improvement on the first team squad. Some of the passing and confidence that we've shown against ManUtd, Bolton to a smaller extent and Coventry shows that changes are in place - and we're scoring goals with an unfit Michael Owen which fills me with loads of confidence. I think that even if we had signed more quality, we'd still be in for a hit and miss season hopefully leading to a marked improvement and I feel that we may get a few more names through the door but if we don't I'm confident that we'll do good enough until January. Look what Keegan did at the end of last season with the players he had - that alone gives me faith. I'm not really panicing and if we don't sign anyone else I'll be a bit disappointed but not worried, I'll just go along for the ride because for the first time since Sir Bobby Robson, I trust the manager of the club.

  22. I still reckon we won't be signing anyone today. It'd be nice to be proven wrong but it wouldn't be NUFC without deadline rushes. I went on the Everton site and there isn't one bad thing in the comments section about them signing Saha. I'd be mortified, as he's just a complete crock. Apparently Moyes is a genious for bringing in a French International who can find the net.

  24. Manorpark - reluctant to spend? Surely bids for Coloccini, Modric, Aimer, Inler etc. show that there's money to spend. How many times does this really need to be pointed out?
