Rumours I've heard that Rafa gave them a list of names but they didn't fit in with the club's criteria (young, cheap, sell on value, etc..) they came back with a list of names for Rafa but he didn't want them and so there's been a Mexican stand off. He gets final say on transfers, but no actual say in who they are. You can't make this shit up!

Aye, after witnessing the ruination of the club and the maltreatment of Rafa then the question of who the next manager is, should be moot. No one can make this club a force under Ashley, the moment anyone does better than expected the purse strings get tighter and the players that get us there get sold for profit and replaced with cheaper alternatives or worse still, loans. We're in immediate danger now with the better players being sold and not replaced and becoming more and more reliant on loans. Those loans go back and you still have huge holes in the squad, we're following in the footsteps of our close neighbours, the team has been completely asset stripped and will go down sooner or later unless huge investment is made. Rafa will leave and no matter who the replacement is, even if Ashley splashes the cash, will hit the same brick wall sooner or later.

Not like we're short of cover in defence, not that it'll matter when some no mark PFM is back in charge next season.

I have to strongly dispute this. You can't just terminate someone who is good at their job and then prove that's legitimate at tribunal. Especially if you've offered them a new contract! AND done it to everyone else on the payroll too. Like I said earlier, I've been through this twice myself. Successfully. Once against one of the biggest North East employers who thought they could bully their staff and that nobody would dare stand up to them. You simply cannot change someone's contract without their permission. Anyway, Ashley's a cunt. Let's get back to something we all agree on! There are ways of making your position redundant and offering you the new contract under a different guise, but either way will cost them money. You are protected by law in a takeover to refuse any contract and retain your existing contract though. If there's a will there's a way and if he wanted to be a twat (he is) he could find a way. All that matters to him is money and how much he can squeeze out of any company with minimum outlay, it's an unsustainable business model and it will come down on him at some point. Ashley just needs to fuck off, he's a blight not just on NUFC but on the English high street.
