Given the massive depth that our squad possesses and our great injury record I'd say that was daft. Don't see how. It's the position we're most stocked with and he's currently behind Wijnaldum and Perez surely? Can't see how he's going to get on the pitch. We're an injury to Mitrovic or Perez away from him starting whilst Cisse is out. For whatever reason McClaren doesn't seem to think Thauvin is ready to start and Aarons is a mile away from starting. McClaren has shown before that if he's going to change things with one of the front two he rates De Jong.

Yeah De Jong is really capable of playing as a deep lying CM or even a CM for that fact. Why would it?

What have you seen of him this season that suggests at 18 years old and the top goalscorer in the league in his first full season suggests his career is already on the decline? At his age and what he's achieved already he's arguably the most promising academy player we've had since Gascoigne.

His loan is only until the 16th so it'll be an extension.

He was involved in our best chance before our first goal, he was a big part of the Janmaat penalty shout and then had a very good second half. I'm not sure what people are expecting, he's had a better debut season than Memphis and playing in a poor team with hardly any quality service.

Really wouldn't be against shifting Colback to left back for a bit, Dummett offers nothing going forward and Colback did pretty well there for Sunderland.

He also has the ability to be a bit of a nasty fuck (see the away game last season) which we've missed since Cabaye, Colback is clumsy and slow whereas Cabaye at least was a bit malicious.

I think that's from his interview with Graham Hunter on the big interview podcast.
