    RIP sale thread.

So much riding on Barclays. According to the Journal: Approved: Moat, Shearer, money for new signings, no further departures. Rejected: Ashley, Kinnear, no new signings, Jonas and Taylor to be sold along with other players that will get bidded on. We haven't had much to smile about since our Ashley took over so I prepare myself for the worst outcome.
  4. Tbf, the German league was a lot more exciting than the English, Spanish and Italian league last season. It's not as bad as people here are making it out to be. The football the play is a lot like the English style. Their league is recovering after a big recession and is getting closer to top 3 (English, Spanish, Italian).
  5. From Reykjavik, Iceland but currently living on fyn in Denmark.
  6. Alves just missed a penalty. EDIT: Nope, I'm wrong
  7. This happend to me once. I was really worried since I have to travel all the way from Iceland. But this was no problem. Even though I had requested that the ticket would be sent they were waiting for me at the box office. Hope you make it to the game. I'm sure you will!
  8. Fantastic diagram. It's clear Harps needs to play it to his defence as Van Der Saar only has 5 passes which went over the halfway line, as opposed to ALL of Harps'. Fantastic apart from the fact they got the Man U/Everton score wrong! It's WestHam vs. ManU so the score is correct
  9. An alias: Journalist Name worbo Tag Line Latics in the Prem! Live the dream Biography I'm from a long line of Latics supporters and with a bit of luck I'll produce another long line of Latics supporters
  10. A piece on vitalfootball about the Bruce issue, from a Wigan fan. http://www.wigan.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=143881 ------------------------------------------------------- From VitalFootball: Bruce is Back in Town Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce returns to work today following a short holiday to Dubai and he will be hit by all the speculation linking him with the Newcastle United job, even the Wigan Evening Post has got in on the act (no surprise there then) With Joe Kinnear looking at a lay off of 8 weeks minimum Newcastle United are currently being run by Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood, not really an ideal situation to have your assistant manager and first team coach in charge of what is effectively a relegation battle Bruce was offered the Newcastle job back in 2004 and he turned it down, a decision he says he regretted at that time, but times have moved on and Bruce has his sights set a lot higher than the Newcastle job For a start he is in charge of the Latics and still has three years of his contract left to run and club chairman Dave Whelan paid a huge sum for a manager when he gave Birmingham £3 million compensation but Bruce has proved his worth to the Latics taking the club from relegation certainties to European hopefuls all in the space of 12 months Bruce has shown at the Latics that he isn`t afraid of reputations and he has made changes in the side and got people to play how he wants them to play, he has also changed the staff around, bringing in 15 players and shipping out 16 and making a tidy profit along the way. There have been sounds coming out of Old Trafford that Bruce could and I stress could be in line to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson when he decides to call it a day at Manchester United though he would face competition from Jose Mourinho who is many peoples favourite for that job. The Latics would also demand a hefty fee for Bruce, the £3 million that Whelan paid Birmingham now seems an absolute bargain and surely he is worth at least double that amount, to Birmingham he was worth £60 million because that`s the amount they lost when they were relegated at the end of last season. When Bruce left Birmingham they were in 14th spot and seemingly heading for mid-table security when Bruce joined Wigan we were 19th with 8 points and heading for the Championship the turn a round at both clubs was amazing, Latics achieving the mid-table security that 14th place brings and Birmingham relegated just one place above Derby County and the worst ever Premier League performance. Bruce is worth is weight in Premier League gold and he is destined for greater things than Newcastle United, fingers crossed, lets just hope that in the next few weeks I am not left eating my words. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This fan certainly likes Bruce, which is understandable, he's perfect for them. Not too sure he will be Sir Alex successor, think Moyes and O'Neill are likelier candidates.
  11. ? There are only 30 days in June But you were referring to being 31 in June, not the 31st of June! Morpeth misread
  12. Mirror with a piece on Bruce wanting to come to Newcastle. Don't know if it is a rehash or not. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2009/02/14/steve-bruce-ready-to-take-over-at-newcastle-united-115875-21122041/ ----------------------------------------------------------- Steve Bruce ready to take over at Newcastle United Steve Bruce is ready to answer an SOS from Newcastle and become their next boss if Mike Ashley goes for a replacement for Joe Kinnear who has had heart surgery. Wigan chief Bruce has never made any secret of his desire to boss 'his' club and regrets turning them down when he was younger. Bruce has taken Wigan to Premier League safety just over a year after joining from Birmingham City - but he has private fears about their future after selling some stars and facing the loss of more in the summer. Chairman Dave Whelan paid a record fee to take Bruce from Birmingham, but the veteran supremo keeps dropping hints he may be willing to sell the club. The Toon job has always been Bruce's dream despite his potential claims to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United. Ashley faces a major decision with caretakers Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood thrown into a relegation dogfight by Joe Kinnear's triple heart by-pass operation. Terry Venables and Bryan Robson have been considered as short-term options. But Bruce would be a winner with the fans and those close to him guarantee that he would take on the task at the Toon this time around. ------------------------------------------------------------- Like most of you I'm not convinced about Kinnear, I feel that we should carefully pick another manager this summer. Someone who will work in the current system. Someone who the fans will get behind. Souness, Roeder and Allardyce were not in that category and therefor less likely to succeed. Someone who the owner is ready to stick with for the next 10 years. We need stability.

    Aston Villa

Really like Villa's style, fast and fun football. Hope they break the dominance of the top 4. To think that I could be us. If only Shepheard would have stuck with Bobby through the season like originally planed. O'Neill would have been tempted to succeed him in the summer. Instead we appointed fucking Souness and the downward spiral began.
  14. It would help Harper if Newcastle would finish top half. If we can get our act together next season, he would definitly be a candidate for 2010.
  15. I understand it the same way you did. The Journal points at Mario Gómez as a possibility, but their are a lot of Gomes playing in the world.
  16. A what? Ehm that sentence was a bit norwenglish! But I would say it was correct though Either a left back or right back? a side back? you know. They call it fullback there in the Britania
  17. Spot on! It will always be a case of "what if he never left". It would have been fantastic. I just loved watching Newcastle with Keegan in charge.
  18. But at the end of the day, theres a reason why Keegan is manager and not Ashley, which is to make these footballing decisions! Agreed, although i think Ashley hasn't been taking any of these decisions, its that Lambas.
