    Alan Pardew

Some fans on here are so fickle! A season is a marathon, not a sprint and you make improvements over several seasons. Look at Moyes at Everton, he's had some shit periods and some great. Pardew didn't get the backing he needed in the summer window. We have a paper thin squad playing in UEFA cup. Positives from today: - clean sheet (very important) - QPR didn't create anything - Marv, Shola and Ober gave us what we needed, fresh legs with energy. Negatives: - just read this board, plenty of shit to go around
  2. Jonas' ineptitude is bringing Santon's offensive shortcomings into sharp focus though. He was essentially playing winger and fullback against City. Also whoever said he doesn't make overlapping runs is completely wrong. Pretty much all he did second half yesterday until Ferguson came on. well i will give you plays a part. But santon does not make great left footed crosses. And i cant really remember him making an assist? his end product is lacking....i just think everything will come more natural for him on RB. I agree with you on his crossing ability. Out of interest do you think its possible for him to work on this to a high enough level to be effective? If you look at his touch and general passing (as opposed to crossing) with his weaker foot he's very solid. I only ask because if he could become better with his crossing on his left he would be suited to playing on the left as obviously he becomes far harder to defend against. If you had the option of him either overlapping to whip a cross in at the byline or cutting in and creating space for the left winger/driving at the box then I think we would have a seriously effective left side. Well, he will only get better. Dont think his left foot will improve much. He is good... I just think he might be better on the right. Maybe a natural left footed winger would do him good? Earlier i wrote Jonas was not to blame...he might be... To some extent? But right now we do not create anything through Simpson and santon. Thats a problem. Imaging arfa if also the opponts had to defend against a skillful attacking rb. Arfa will improved hugely because of more options and space. Right now he is working alone. He is only 21 afterall, compared to the players of a similar age he is streets ahead and is exceptionally talented (Ranger 21, Ameobi 20, Ferguson 21). He really is the least of our problems. Also think how many games he has played this season. I think a natural left footer would increase his consistency as he wouldn't have to do so much. I think you touch upon something though when mentioning Hatem. We currently have no partnerships/trios on the pitch. Under Hughton we had small chains of players working together very well, jonas, jose, colo; carroll, nolan barton. To criticise him now is like complaining about someone lighting a match indoors while the whole house is ablaze. Totally agree!

    St James' Park

shouldn't this be on a non football related chat.
  4. Also very unrealistic! Debuchy has a elevated his price tag beyond our valuation of him during the Euro's. We are also some way of De Jong's set price and while Monchengladbach is sniffing around I think Twente will stick by their price. Douglas is a possibility although sounds very complicated deal do complete with multiple agents and his passport issues. I don't think it's "very unrealistic". All three might be a bit much to ask, but it seems we're in advanced negotiations for the first two. We might not manage to conclude the deals, but even being at this stage is a big positive IMO. You are one of those "the glass is half full" people I hope you are right and I'm wrong. On the positive side we have bid high prices for players like Gameiro and Gervinho. So we might go the extra mile for de Jong if the really value him.

  6. Benzema has not been good this tournament.
  7. I think there are 3 clubs that would suit Carroll. Stoke, QPR and West Ham. I also don't think it is a coincedent that Heidar Helguson has scored 7 goals in the premier league playing with Joey Barton. Carroll would be used to his strength in the playing style of Stoke and West Ham, very direct style! I still think he can be a great player, but not for Liverpool. He is really low on confidence and can't see it return unless he changes enviroments. He might get it by coming back, but to be fair I would rather we got a Bellamy type of player with Ba.
  8. This constant doubt is what keeps us under the radar. That is a good thing!
  9. They important thing in the article was: So this stupid idea wont fly!
  10. Funny how liverpool fans are lowering Carrols pricetag. I heard 32m before this weekend and now its down to 30m. It'll be down to 15m by the end of the season.
  11. If his liverpool career fails, I can see him going to West Ham to join his pal, Nolan. But only if West Ham get promoted.
  12. Villa fans on villatalk are not impressed with him. Got shit ratings from them and it seems he's been like that since he signed for them. My guess would be AM tactics having something to do with it.
  13. Interesting read http://oneinthehole.wordpress.com/2011/08/29/why-harry-redknapp-is-no-longer-the-manager-to-take-spurs-forward/
  14. What will he do if he's wrong? Donate a kidney to a dying child? He might want to go with donating a singular cells, donating whole organs will see him run out very soon.
  15. don't know anything about this guy, but I don't follow French football. Why is everybody so exited?
