Time to stop using the term "golden generation" unless they're actually winning things.

Utterly lame set of pens from the Swiss, like. Having said that, Spain's weren't much better. -

Still too God-bothery. Len's "Steal My Sunshine" or nowt, tbh. -
When Southgate took over - and during the 2018 World Cup - the media were loving how open and accessible things were. I think before they went to Russia they sat each member of the squad down on a table and the press could go and speak to whoever they liked. That attitude, along with the attitude of the players themselves (not towing the Italia 90/Euro 96 narrative) has definitely helped compared to the siege mentality seen between the Eriksson and Capello eras (particularly the latter).

Actually looked capable of going forwards a couple of times too. Rice is akin to Shelvey. Gets the ball, takes far too long and ends up going backwards. If there's going to be a break on, it'll crumble if it goes through him. -

Yep. When you took a squad of 23, you could have everyone not in the XI on the bench. They've allowed a squad of 26, but it's still a matchday squad of 23. Sancho didn't make the bench against Croatia. -

Fucking baffling not to have DCL on the bench when this is as much as Kane offers. -

I can see why he's employed Graeme Jones now. He's seen the dynamism that Shelvey and Hayden offer and is replicating it with Rice and Phillips' fluid three-yard one-twos. -

Group D (Croatia, Czech Republic, England, Scotland)

We need to put an end to the Rice/Phillips midfield pairing. It's nearly as painful as watching Hayden and Shelvey. Not sure what's up with Kane. He drops incredibly deep which shouldn't be the case with the three just behind him and it seems incredibly easy to mark him out the game. There's very little movement. I'll also throw my hat into the maverick fanboy ring. Play Grealish and Foden - drop Sterling - and see what happens. -
Sat here wondering exactly the same thing. What the fuck is he on about?

Any decent wallcharts knocking about? I'm guessing some of tomorrow's papers might have them? -
Andy Carroll (now playing for Bordeaux)

It's the people who run fan YouTube channels and questionable notables on Twitter I feel sorry for. They seemed to love him. They'll be gutted. Us folk with half a brain realised it was a horrendous attempt at positive PR that thankfully fell flat on its knees into the sodden turf (figuratively - and literally in Andrew Thomas Carroll's case). -
If we’re going down the route of a Metro theme, I’d prefer if we incorporated this legend somehow
